Amazon Prime Deliveries

Ozil10 · 29/11/2018 20:01

So I've noticed these past couple of weeks, even though I pay for Amazon Prime and the next day delivery, that the dates they are delivered are all over the place.

I ordered two items last Thursday. Was originally told it would be Friday, then changes to Tuesday and in the end I received on Monday.

Another item was meant to be delivered on 07/12, and I had an email saying it was dispatched for delivery today. Mid afternoon I get an email that it had been delayed and it could arrive any time in the next week and they'd let me know.

The reason I pay for Amazon Prime is that I know I'll be in work on the delivery day to accept the parcel and now it's all over the shop.

So AIBU to be expect when paying for next day deliveries for them to actually fulfil this service and not mess me around with delivery dates? It's the changing that's annoying!

I had one delivery a few weeks ago to work that I was following the tracking on.

From 4pm it said 'only a few more deliveries until yours' and the map said the driver was a couple of streets away. I was hanging around at work, waiting to go home but wanted the item. Anyway at 5.15pm I got fed up and left. It was delivered at 6.30pm!

I haven't had a problem recently, but I have noticed this year that prime no longer means next day delivery. I've been using Amazon less as it's not even cheaper than other stores every time any more. Even in the Amazon website prime items are more expensive than the same item without prime.

BerriTerri · 29/11/2018 23:04

Me too, not a heavy user but all my recents have had issues with delays. Plus a book with half the cover ripped off!

Ontheboardwalk · 29/11/2018 23:09

Amazon always seem to go a bit wonkey Black Friday week.

My deliveries came a day early. I like amazon delivery even tho they are evil

PickAChew · 29/11/2018 23:15

The timescales always get stretched in the run up to Christmas.

I was an early adopter of amazon prime and my first year became almost 2 years because of refunded months due to late deliveries.

wtftodo · 29/11/2018 23:17

Agree - it’s been going on for months/a year. My prime renewed automatically before I noticed and I contacted customer service on livechat to complain about the deliveries.

In the past, if you said something had turned up later than expected they’d give you 1-2months extra prime as compensation, but this time I had to ask them to please extend my membership a month.. because I dont think its good value for money at all anymore

HundredMilesAnHour · 29/11/2018 23:20

I've been with Prime since they started but I won't be renewing my membership this time. I find it irritating that so many Prime items don't offer next day delivery any more. I started taking the Kindle etc credit for when you select a Prime item but don't care about the delivery date. That option worked pretty well for me but Amazon seem to have stopped doing this too. So that's it for me, I'm done with them.

MrMakersFartyParty · 29/11/2018 23:25

I've had to complain 3 times about this recently and all they've given me is a free month of prime each time and I don't want another month of something that doesn't function! Such a rip off.

whyarentiskinnyet · 29/11/2018 23:28

Call them. I had this and called and complained and got an extra month free prime and a £5 credit.
Ordered stuff on thurs which was advertised as prime next day delivery and they were quoting Sunday for actual delivery, that's not next day!

pandarific · 29/11/2018 23:30

I've noticed this too! I was on the phone to customer service about an order which was falsely called next day and they basically told me that because I had more than one item, they needed the other day to collect it all together. Hmm No apology, nothing - I suspect it was utter bollocks made up to get me off the phone.

I am also going to cancel, there's no point if it's actually not next day delivery!

sophisticatedsarcasm · 29/11/2018 23:32

Not had any issues with mine, and have ordered shit loads the last week, sure it anything to do with the couriers they use for your particular area.

Luscinia · 29/11/2018 23:38

I complained to Amazon about this and got a refund of half of my Prime membership. I will not be renewing it next month and am trying to wean myself off Amazon altogether.

OrigamiZoo · 29/11/2018 23:42

Prime is a bit of a con - ofen over-priced, especially when you don't get next day delivery.

You have to be very careful with the Add-On programme, I find if you look to the right hand side of the page and 'other sellers' you can get those items for less, still with free delivery, just not next day, which as many of us have said, isn't nex day anyway.

My go to now is Argos as I get always get 5% cashback and it is often cheaper than Argos.

OrigamiZoo · 29/11/2018 23:45

@HundredMilesAnHour Yes, I've noticed this too. I think prime is for the bin for us too, the tv isn't that great either.

cakesandphotos · 30/11/2018 07:40

It’s almost always DPD for us. We had a fab driver who always came on time, always cheerful. Then he left and our deliveries have been a bit up in the air since then. Our village Facebook page is constantly tracking the DPD van!

LucyMorningStar · 30/11/2018 07:44

Any Amazon lockers nearby? Or drop off points? Might make your life easier

LunaAzul · 30/11/2018 07:49

I had a parcel for delivery on Tuesday. Checked the tracking at about 6pm and it had been “handed to resident” in the morning. But I WFH and the door bell hadn't gone.

Contacted Amazon who said it was a miss scan and hadn’t been delivered, but I opened my front door and parcel was wedged against the door using one of my potted trees! Very inventive but the parcel was drenched.

Weetabixandshreddies · 30/11/2018 07:53

I've noticed this for months now. Very, very rarely is it next day delivery even if I've placed the order early in the morning.

I understand that at busy times eg black Friday delivery might be delayed but it's just the norm now.

Nenic · 30/11/2018 08:09

I’m still getting all my parcels next day and I’ve ordered loads of stuff. I fully expect that during november and December it may take extra time as they will be extremely busy. Prime isn’t just for next day delivery. It’s for all sorts of stuff. It really annoys me when people start complaining about this at the busiest time of the year.

PourMeAGlassOfMilk · 30/11/2018 08:15

Phone them up and complain you're not getting the prime service you've paid for. Do it every time a delivery is late/delayed. They will usually offer you a month's free Prime. I got 6 months free last year.

MuddlingThroughLife · 30/11/2018 08:18

Not very helpful but I find this happens every year in the lead up to Christmas. It's very frustrating.

footballmum · 30/11/2018 08:19

I’ve started choosing dellivery points or lockers rather than home deliveries. It means I’m not waiting in and don’t have to inconvenience my neighbors if the parcel is dropped off with them.

Osirus · 30/11/2018 08:28

I don’t use Prime and always get my deliveries within 2-5 days. It’s not the worth the money and don’t know why people bother.

Junkmail · 30/11/2018 10:54

I order a lot of stuff from amazon (Blush) and most of it has arrived absolutely when they say it will—just the odd thing here and there late. But I remember from last year it got less and less reliable the closer to Christmas. I think they just have a massive influx of orders at this time of the year and are doing their best to keep up. Email them and complain about it though—it’ll give them a chance to explain what’s going on and they may give you a coupon for the inconvenience. I’ve found the customer service at amazon to be good.

Yellowbutterfly1 · 30/11/2018 11:02

I had this problem this time last year.
It's also annoying me that I order a Prime item like I did yesterday morning and it stated delivery on Sunday (not sure what the point of having it Prime was), I order it.
I then look up the item last night and it says delivery on Saturday if ordered in the next 15 hrs.
Why would they not offer me Saturday a few hours earlier?
