I’ll start. There is absolutely nothing acceptable about all day breakfast in a tin so why did I buy it in B&M earlier and eat it for dinner?! Blush

Graphista · 28/11/2018 18:40

VEGETARIAN all day breakfast in a tin (preferably with tattie scones, fried eggs, veggie bacon and toast and a big mug builders tea - don't have it often as obviously need to be really hungry - generally after a period of not eating due to illness then that first day that you're actually HUNGRY again - hits the spot)

"I’m so confused by an all day breakfast in a tin? Is it just everything mushed in together?!"

Basically - baked beans, sausages, mushrooms, bits of bacon and scrambled egg all in one tin. Can't seem to find the veggie versions now though 😪

Veggie tartex yeast pate on toast or crackers - can easily eat a whole tube in one go inc cutting open and scraping out the rest

Sweet n sour pot noodle

Mini homemade cheesecake as follows: digestive biscuit, cream cheese, strawberry jam - gone in 2 mouthfuls make next 😜

Instant mash with -

Mayo & salt
Cream cheese or herby cream cheese
Pesto sauce (try it)
Butter & marmite

Celery dipped in peanut butter
Cup a soup cream of mushroom with croutons
Pickled pretty much ANYTHING including but not ltd to - eggs, gherkins, peppers, asparagus, garlic, beetroot, cabbage (sauerkraut), red cabbage, onion, carrots, cauliflower... Unfortunately gives me raging heartburn so HAS to be followed or preceded by something dairy which is weird.
Chip butty with salad cream
Ice poles (this may be a perimenopausal thing)
"Hot dog" pasta - pasta with sliced veggie hot dogs, fried onions, butter & ketchup plus dash of mustard (trust me try it! Dds favourite at one point)
Cheese on toast dipped in mug of tomato soup which has lots of black pepper in.

"Salad cream generally but especially on new potatoes" oooh yes

"Sherbet fountains" yes but I want the cardboard tubes back I'm certain they taste different outta plastic

I'm currently going through a dolly mixture phase

Stuffing balls (cooked) there's only me & dd but we get through a big box of paxo between us Xmas day no bother! I dip mine in cranberry sauce, she uses gravy. If they make it to dinner actually being served there's something wrong!
I may win weirdness award for this one - quorn deli ham slices spread with pesto sauce, add a few olives or sundried tomatoes or both, roll & eat (nope no bread or crackers just savoury lusciousness)

"The eggs from scotch eggs but not the meat. Peel the white off first then bite the yolk in half!" Umm so that would be just boiled eggs then?!

Century eggs - look & sound gross BUT I love pickled eggs so maybe I'd like? What do they taste like?

"Can you still get Primula cheese? And meat/fish paste? I thought these things were obsolete." Noo you can still get them in most supermarkets. Also Heinz sandwich spread which dd loves but begs me not to tell her what's in it 😂

Contrary to the stereotype as a veggie who used to eat meat I don't miss bacon. I do however sometimes miss:

Fish & shellfish, inc cod roe (and yes thank goodness scampi fries are veggie)
Black pudding (apparently there's a veggie version out there?)
Pork scratchings
Tongue sandwiches
Pilchards in tomato sauce on toast

Drying - dry shampoo as sub for scampi fries 😂😂😂

"It’s always savoury crap for me..." Noticed most of the thread is savoury?

"do have some standards" completely unnecessary on this thread 😂

"Ladies talk to me about cooking potato waffles in the toaster..." Me too! I already do tattie scones in toaster which then go in a buttered roll with plastic sliced cheese & sweet pickle.

"You just hoof it in the toaster. It sometimes needs 2 gos to be cooked enough" noted

"Mackies ice cream" boak - no too far, tastes like it's made from on the turn milk!

"No food is unreasonable just not accepted as posh enough by the aspiring middle class" too true - yet the REALLY posh people I know, including landed gentry LOVE the most bizarre foods. And certainly aren't averse to supposedly "working class" things like chip & crisp butties.

"And a Belgian bun." Ooooh greggs Belgian buns! I went through a phase of having 4 a week at one point last year still in denial about why I'm fat

"Gasp How could we forget Angel Delight!" A similar thread prompted me to get some a couple months back - don't bother it's bland shite now!

DwangelaForever · 28/11/2018 18:42

Also a fan of scampi fries and "meat" pastes haha, especially crab and chicken paste!

recently · 28/11/2018 18:47

Tinned sardines in tomato sauce on Toast
Our local John Lewis used to do a great sardines on toast - and then they went all posh and dropped it from the menu.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 28/11/2018 18:57

lottiebear69 · 28/11/2018 19:05

MammaSchwifty · 28/11/2018 19:11

Yes, Angel Delight! Butterscotch, made up in a plastic measuring jug, eaten directly with a big spoon.

Mia184 · 28/11/2018 19:12

I love pasta with pesto mixed with tuna from a can.

My DM and DGM love hard-boiled eggs in mustard sauce - vile stuff! My DGF (husband of DGM) loved sandwiches with salami and honey.

foxyloxy78 · 28/11/2018 19:32

Donner kebab

delboysskinandblister · 28/11/2018 19:36

mango chutney out the jar

fried fish fingers, mash, tinned tomatoes all in a bowl (reminds me of nursery)

coleslaw out the tub

tinned hot chicken curry from Aldi

delboysskinandblister · 28/11/2018 19:39

@MammaSchwifty

butterscotch is THE only flavour - none else shall rule!

p.s. forgot tinned sardines in tomato sauce on toast

YoThePussy · 28/11/2018 19:43

Don’t know if it is unreasonable when ill have to have jelly with tinned fruit in, mixed fruit cubes for preference. Have lost my Mickey Mouse jelly mould to have to use china Victorian one instead. Squirty cream for garnish.

PlainVanilla · 28/11/2018 19:46

Foie gras
Oysters

Kitkatbar2018 · 28/11/2018 20:18

Ready salted crisps and chocolate together - yum!!! Dipping fries / ready salted crisps in a creme egg!!
Also packets of crisps that have been frozen - delicious - really intensifies the flavour!!!

n0ne · 28/11/2018 20:37

Tinned Heinz macaroni cheese. Pale, squidgy, practically tasteless but I just love it!

Clareel · 28/11/2018 20:39

Chips with cheese and curry sauce.
Mushy peas with cheese melted in served with sweet chilli sauce and copious amounts of mayo.
Cheese and jam sandwhich.

flowerandflower · 28/11/2018 20:41

Just thought of another, tinned curry with a buttery jacket potato Grin

AromaticSpices · 28/11/2018 20:44

I've had egg on toast tonight but frankly all I want is a pot noodle and one of my Greedy Bastard Hot Chocolates (trademark)

itshappened · 28/11/2018 21:07

Heinz sandwich spread and cheese sandwiches

KitschBitch · 28/11/2018 21:36

Aromatic Spices - pleeease tell me how you make one of your trademark hot chocolates, that is the kind of thing I need right now!

Lovingbenidorm · 28/11/2018 21:42

itshappened that made me laugh! I used to be addicted to sandwich spread , every day after school I’d have toast with sandwich spread, loved it!
Stopped eating it as an adult then saw it in a shop and thought ‘ooooh!’ Was so excited........... it was like sick! 🤭

MintyCedric · 28/11/2018 22:13

JemSynergy · 28/11/2018 22:52

When I was a kid I would always eat salad cream sandwiches

Picked eggs
pickled mussels in a jar
Spicy pickled onions
Eggs on Crumpets
Instant packet spicy Ramen which I add prawn, fish sticks and veg to
I try to not think about the MSG

Twotabbycats · 28/11/2018 23:04

Caramel sauce straight out of the jar... like eating toffee but less chance of breaking a tooth Blush
