What is this fresh hell?

People putting their trees up in November WTAF? Its another week until bloody December?!

I hate the bloody commercialism the bloody colour themes people moaning about putting one up and having another two to go (in their own home so entirely optional).

Why does this have to be another “thing”.

Bah humbug I say.

Mine is up because I love Christmas , I don't see Christmas as one day for me it's a whole month and so on, it's magical, I love the cold weather, I love the twinkly lights, I love everything about it I really do. The manic shppping and getting the food in and gifts etc.

isseywithcats · 25/11/2018 20:43

and its behind the telly because the cats thinks its a gym just for them its safe there

CharlieandRabbit · 25/11/2018 20:45

If your tree goes up before December then you're a knob. Basically.

If it goes up before December the 10th or comes dowb before January 6th you're still a little bit of a knob.

If your tree comes down on boxing day. You are a massive knob.

Baking101 · 25/11/2018 20:46

Nah it's out of the way of the door. I wanted it in front of the window and that's the closest I can get it. Grin

CharlieandRabbit · 25/11/2018 20:46

Down*

EnglishRose1320 · 25/11/2018 20:46

What people do in their own homes I guess is their own business, still seems insanely early. Ds1 is autistic and feels Christmas shouldn't start unti December the 1st at the very earliest and gets completely overwhelmed by all the decorations going up on people's houses before that.
I like to build up gradually, the odd song and movie in the last week or two of November, Christmas get togethers, markets and the like in the first weeks of December and then full blown Christmas, tree lights the lot from then on.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 25/11/2018 20:48

I've had mine up since yesterday and it looks fab

MrsDylanBlue · 25/11/2018 20:49

TBF I dont really love Xmas that much.

I was a single mum with three kids and it was always massively pressured and anxiety inducing.

I absolutely love Christmas but never ever put our tree up until mid-December. Mostly because we get a real tree and it would be seriously wilting by Christmas Day if we did!!

We’re getting married next weekend and then it’s DS’s First Birthday the weekend after so definitely no Christmas in the house until after then!

AGHHHH · 25/11/2018 20:54

People have been doing this for years. The same complaints come every year..

KipperTheFrog · 25/11/2018 20:56

These are the same people who will have it down on Boxing day because Christmas is over and they're fed up with it. Ignoring that Christmas is the start of the "12 days of Christmas".
Our tree will go up mid December.
DD1 is 4 and already fed up with all the Christmas stuff as it's been rammed down her throat at school Sad

Notfastjustfurious · 25/11/2018 21:00

I'd just been saying to dh that it seems like more people have trees up early this year he just shrugged so glad to see its not just me thinking that. Ours will be next weekend as its a real tree and that's when they start to go on sale. Never used to do it until mid December but the advent calendars looked lonely as the only decoration.

YouWereRight · 25/11/2018 21:01

If it were up to me, I'd keep the Christmas decorations up all year round. They make me feel happy and warm. Dp would leave though Grin

We've compromised by keeping some strings of fairy lights up, and trying to pretend some ornaments aren't Christmas specific.

VioletCharlotte · 25/11/2018 21:02

These will be the same people who will be posting on Facebook on Boxing Day that they've had enough of Christmas and have take their tree down. It's far too early!

MrsDylanBlue · 25/11/2018 21:16

Are any of these people religious? 😂😂

adviceonthepox · 25/11/2018 21:16

I put mine up the first weekend In December usually and take it down on the 27th. The reason I take it down is we have 4 birthdays between the 28th and the 5th of jan, just do whatever fits in with your own family and don't be bothered what anyone else does!

RJnomore1 · 25/11/2018 21:20

I knew I took a photo of this card today for a reason

Meh. I wouldn't do it. But life is pretty miserable at the moment, so if it gives people some joy and happiness, who cares?

Blanchedupetitpois · 25/11/2018 21:22

I wouldn’t do it myself but I can see why some people want to spread out the joy as much as possible.

ToastedSandwichObsession · 25/11/2018 21:22

Well I'm with you Op but it's a big thing now and apparently we should butt out because it's none of our business.

LagunaBubbles · 25/11/2018 21:34

Only speak for myself but nope! Don't come down until around 4th January.

Doghorsechicken · 25/11/2018 21:35

I love Christmas and I love my decorations! Our living room is so beautiful but adding Christmas decorations makes it even more magical. I love my decorations and would leave them up until spring if it was up to me! Makes winter seem cheery & cosy. My tree went up last week but I usually put it up on 30th November.

Baking101 · 25/11/2018 21:37

Mine won't come down til January either. Like hell can I be bothered to take down decorations on boxing day. I'll be lucky if I can move. Grin
