Just that really. I just find it unpleasant and my DD7 corrects people she has heard on TV call children kids as she knows that 'kids' are baby goats.

I call all children .'Kids' it's not a derogatory term. Just get a life if it's offending you!

I know most ppl do not keep goats as family members, so it can't be too confusing for most people.

Yes, OP, YABU. I hate, loathe, detest children being referred to as 'kids". But one of my loveliest friends does it. For that reason alone, it's fine. I think your DD might need a lesson in manners, OP.

Loads of people refer to children as kids and they’re not going to stop because you don’t like it.
You have your opinion, others have theirs so YANBU to not like it. YABU to expect others to change because you don’t like it though.

My kids are lovely, and relaxed. Your children are far too uptight and restricted. I also use the term little kiddies. And what's with the caps?

I think I'd find your "kid" annoying tbh and I don't mean to be rude but I can just imagine it now... It's a common term used and there's no need for anyone to "correct" people or get so bothered about it. There's more annoying things in life surely?

While my late and lovely DM would have agreed with you OP, I find people calling fully-grown adult women 'girls' far more irritating. Especially when done in the sort of put-down condescending way as used by middle-aged boys men.

YABU. It's a perfectly normal expression. I remember someone disagreeing with me on a thread once about something to do with children, and she picked up on the fact that I'd used the expression 'kids' and somehow that proved I had a derogatory attitude towards children .

Just a couple of definitions... It's possible for a word to have more than one meaning
