Define fat - some people feel fat if they go from a size 8 to a 10, others are size 20+

ImWorriedAboutThis · 23/11/2018 17:57

Post on the style and beauty board, Im sure they'll help you out. Oh and I'm sure you don't look shit in everything Smile

BumDisease · 23/11/2018 17:58

Someone will be along in a minute to tell you to go on a stupid crash diet.

haverhill · 23/11/2018 18:00

Wear something which draws attention to something you like, like good legs or nice boobs, and something plainer on the bits you’re not confident with.

HoleyCoMoley · 23/11/2018 18:01

You won't look shit, what size are you, height and do you like to wear dresses or trousers. There are some lovely clothes around. Well help you find something to make you look amazing.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 23/11/2018 18:08

Yes, Style and Beauty board will help you. They’ll probably want an idea of height, weight, general body shape, skin tone and hair colour too as they can make a difference to what looks good. Also, is there a ‘celeb’ you resemble even just a tiny bit as that sometimes helps to find a look that will work. EG, I don’t profess to be as gorgeous as her but, I’m very much a Dawn French size and shape and colouring now, so I dress very much Dawn French-like and make sure my skin and hair are as good as possible. Seems to work ok Smile

I usually go for oversized baggy top and leggings with nice boots or just boots/heels

Something like this

Have a look on simply be - all their clothes go from a 12 to a 32 and some are 34/36.
They have some lovely things, not ridiculously expensive, and if you have a shop near you, you can try them on first.
They sell Joe Brown in big sizes too, if you're looking for something different, I just wish I could afford all of them!
Wear what you feel good in, and you will be fabulous!

My weight fluctuates a lot. My size ranges between 12-20 so I know what looks good on most sizes! What size are you now? Do you not like your bum/thighs or your stomach most? Are you tall or short? Give us some more info and we can help!

MrsTWH · 23/11/2018 18:27

Give us an idea of your size, height and problem areas and we can help!

CoughLaughFart · 23/11/2018 18:53

My weight fluctuates a fair bit. I wouldn’t call myself fat, but I’m no size 10 either.

Personally I like big prints. You’ll get people telling you to wear head to toe black as it’s slimming, but personally I find a bold floral pattern (for example) hides a multitude of sins.

Also, don’t be afraid of big jewellery (statement necklaces etc.) Delicate little chains etc. look lost on me (I’m also tall) but I can pull off quite bold accessories.

YesIDidNameChangeForThis · 23/11/2018 18:57

The Scarlett and Jo polka dot Marilyn dress is incredibly flattering. Accentuates the girls, whilst giving you a waist (even if you are a blob like me)..It's a good length too..wear with some oversized fishnet tights and some glam heels and you'll feel a million dollars.

sossages · 23/11/2018 19:02

I very unexpectedly got a gorgeous blue/grey floaty dress from Evans a couple of years ago, and only because it shares a shopfront with Dorothy Perkins where I live. It shows a bit of boob and a lot of leg but is mysteriously but stylishly floaty around my middle section. I kid tell myself it looks like something Joan Watson would wear in Elementary. So I would recommend trying shops you might not normally go in.

Merename · 23/11/2018 19:06

Following! Feeling very fat after dd2 Sad

glueandstick · 23/11/2018 19:07

Ah you horrid vipers Flowers thank you for making me feel less crap.

I’m 5’7 and an 18. Problem is a lovely overhanging stomach thanks to a badly done section and comfort eating. Big boobs though. Always a bonus?

An Autumn Phillips type but with many spare lbs.

This is a Collectif dress called Trixie, I sized down and it's mega flattering

You will not look like shit! What's your height and dress size? What are your fave bits and least fave bits?

LagerthaTheShieldMaiden · 23/11/2018 19:11

So accentuate the boobs. Fitted midi length skirt, tuck in a loose fitting sparkly v neck cami (Asda have some gorgeous ones if you're on a budget), and finish with a shrug or a blazer?

CrookedMe · 23/11/2018 19:14

Great dress @Ollivander84 Smile

Livpool · 23/11/2018 19:21

I've put on some weight and am currently a 16-18. I am dreading what to wear over Christmas. Plus, I plan on losing it in the new year so don't want to spend a lot

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 23/11/2018 19:37

If you've got great boobs 50s style swing dress would be flattering. Seems a flattering style on most people. Hell bunny, dolly and dotty, lindy bop are all good websites to look at. They are great with a petticoat underneath too.

halfwitpicker · 23/11/2018 20:42

Unicorn and bows is on the money with that dress.
