AIBU to not know what fat people should wear?

It’s Christmas party time. I’ve got fat this year and look shit in everything.

What the hell am I supposed to wear that doesn’t look awful. I feel shit in everything.

Can the fashion gurus help? Everything lovely looks awful on me. Help.

When I was overweight the problem I had was that instead of viewing clothes as what looked nice I viewed them as what would make my body invisible. I did find that doing my hair and makeup before trying on the clothes gave me a lift that helped with the confidence to view the clothes more positively.

I was browsing around on the back of this thread, and was surprised to see a model sporting this look! Please tell me I'm not imagining that this is a bit weird.

If you try the trousers and top combo, I can recommend the leather look skinny jeans from Boden. They sound a bit odd but honestly v flattering and comfortable. I'm 5'6" and a 16/18 and with a long top they look great (if I do say so myself).

I'm a size 14 but short (so overweight) and I go for dark colours, sleeves that cover my upper arms and a skirt length that goes to just below my knees. It hides the worst areas - flabby arms and chunky thighs - and a dark colour covers a multitude of sins!

Great big Bridget Jones knickers. They smooth over the stomach a bit and hide bulges.
