Ok, so this has been discussed many a time, but nothing ever seems to change, every year, people still seem to enjoy adorning their homes with these eye bleeding, migraine inducing, brain splitting fuckers. Would you consider reforming your blue light ways for the sake of your fellow neighbours? Will you finally ‘see the light’ Wink and change to any other colour instead? Please? begging

Our massive city Xmas tree has its lights put on in up and down stripes rather than wrapped round. Ugly!

Iruka · 21/11/2018 17:17

I like the blue lights too but not flashing. Hate the multi-coloured ones and have never seen gold (and wouldn’t use them either)

picklemepopcorn · 21/11/2018 17:20

Down with blue lights!

I hate the constant edge of anxiety that an emergency vehicle is coming or worse- everyone ignoring flashing blue lights!

Nanny0gg · 21/11/2018 17:29

I see your blue lights and raise you deep pink Shock

You know those outside pre-lit 'trees'? White I can cope with - but Pink??

strumpetblowingatrumpet · 21/11/2018 17:31

Oh now you see we used to have deep pink in the multi coloured lights back in the 80s and I liked it, perhaps not on its own though...

WhirlyGigWhirlyGig · 21/11/2018 17:31

I have about 12 days before my neighbours adorn the entire front of their house with blue lights flashing in various sequences 😭 They're very nice, tasteful neighbours until Christmas comes around, then they turn into garish people with their 999whats your emergency house decorations.

Leafy2018 · 21/11/2018 17:34

Urgh... I'd temporarily forgotten about the blue Christmas lights. I hate them! NOT festive in any way. Awful!

SixToEightInchesOfSnow · 21/11/2018 17:36

I really do think they should be banned due to looking too much like emergency vehicle lights.

SoupDragon · 21/11/2018 17:37

I'm going to go out and buy shed loads of blue lights.

Far better than those rank yellowy white ones.

SoupDragon · 21/11/2018 17:38

If you can't tell the difference between Christmas lights and an emergency vehicle, you should go to spec savers.

TheVanguardSix · 21/11/2018 17:39

In the States, when I was growing up, blue lights were for Hanukkah. So if you're Jewish, you string up the blue lights.

actiongirl1978 · 21/11/2018 17:53

Our elderly neighbours have bright white lights in icicles. Which would be just about ok, but they have them on a flashing sequence which goes 'on...off...on....off..onoffonoffonoff....on.....off. Last year I had to ask them to turn them off at night as we didn't have a bedroom blind at the time as we were mid decorating. They were most peeved and explained they would be leaving them on all night over Xmas eve/day/boxing for the people on nightshifts so they would be cheerful. I literally cannot look at them without getting a headache, not sure how they make people cheerful! The rest of the village thankfully went warm white. I should add it's a tiny 'drive throughout' village in hampshire with thatched cottages. Warm white should be in the deeds.

Parttimewasteoftime · 21/11/2018 18:05

Just passed a house on bus looks likes Elsa's house! Hate them oh and just so you know the cold bothers me 😂

MammaSchwifty · 21/11/2018 18:05

I would like to add in my objection to 'cool white' lights. Brrr! Shudder! Shiver!

Why would anyone choose blue or cool white over lovely beautiful festive appealing warm white?? It's an instant design fail, surely, yet every year they are draped all over public spaces.

I'm so glad this isn't just me!

Artofhappiness · 21/11/2018 18:08

Grin this thread has really cheered me up on a rubbish day. Thanks you!

WhirlyGigWhirlyGig · 21/11/2018 18:08

Cool white gives me the rage too. Warm white is nice and tasteful, feels cosy. My outdoor entrance lights are warm white so as not to blind neighbours if they look out of their curtains.

toomuchtooold · 21/11/2018 18:11

My kid wanted to buy blue Christmas lights today in Lidl. I managed to talk her down to cold white but I'm still horrified. They're going in the kids' room.

(I'm going to turn into one of those people who has a separate kids' tree for all the tasteless stuff, aren't I?)

citiesofbismuth · 21/11/2018 18:17

I really like them. Blue is my favourite colour. I think they look really pretty. I don't have any, but some of the neighbours have.

treehousethunderstorm · 21/11/2018 18:30

Blue lights - definitely not.

Cool white lights - if you must.

Retro coloured lights - Yes.

Warm white lights - Absolutely.

SoupDragon · 21/11/2018 18:35

Why would anyone choose blue or cool white over lovely beautiful festive appealing warm white??

People in Different Tastes Shocker!

I think "warm white" looks like something white that's gone yellow with age. It doesn't shout "cosiness" at me. [shrug]

MortyVicar · 21/11/2018 18:36

Lights should be warm white, decorations should be red, green and gold. And if I could find my gavel I'd bang it.

Blue is just so not Christmas. Anyone remember the year it was all black trees and orange lights? Or green trees and tartan ribbons? I imagine that sometime in the future, when red and green and gold come back into fashion there'll be a bunch of adults who are teenagers now saying longingly 'but where are all the blue lights? This isn't Christmas.'

Anyway, off to glare at the lights down the road (where they've had their tree up since the 6th November). All round the windows and on the tree their lights are......Quality Street tin purple.

MarmiteTermite · 21/11/2018 18:38

I say bring back the pastel lights from my childhood in the 1970s [santa]

CoraPirbright · 21/11/2018 18:44

Blue are horrible and only marginally better are those chilly white ones. Warm white all the way although there is a house near us that adorns its front in multi-coloured, gob-stopper sized lights and, unexpectedly, I love it!!

Has anyone seen the trees that go up on the Fullers brewery in Chiswick on the main drag into London from the west? The lights are sort of beer coloured Grin. Brilliant.

feesh · 21/11/2018 18:47

I’m in the Middle East and my neighbours have adorned their balcony with blue Christmas lights.

People, we have a GLOBAL problem here.

Terribletwos84 · 21/11/2018 19:03

Came home today to my neighbours house adorned in blue flashing lights. Don't switch them off until about eleven and they shine into my son's bedroom and ours! I hate them!
