Middle aged man with no hobbies. Not into 'foodie' type gifts, already owns too many clothes. I'm at a complete loss this year. What are you all buying your OH's?

Christmas for my husband is his annual boxer and sock supply replenishment. The usually comes up with some idea of what he wants, this year it's a golf trolley Hmm He'll be getting a voucher to go and buy himself said golf trolley. Usually I'd get him tickets for something (festival, comedian etc) but we're about to have a baby so money is a bit tighter this year. He'll also get the usual chocolates etc

@DontsweatthelittlestuffThanks

Bloomcounty · 20/11/2018 12:36

We keep it really simple for each other, and just buy a couple of real (but not expensive) presents (a classic dvd, or a CD, and a paperback book, for example), and then fill a stocking with wee treats. Neither of us wants much, so little things that I know he'd enjoy are more our thing. A bag of hazelnuts in their shells makes him incredibly happy, as do chocolate covered cherries.

InsomniacAnonymous · 20/11/2018 12:38

Nothing. We stopped Christmas presents years ago.

Mine wants a beer and gin making area all kitted out in the cellar. And I'm just glad it's out of the way and not in the lounge ! So I've got a chippy / handy man setting it up so it's good to go for Christmas.
It's kind of going to be a bit of a bar too.

BiddyPop · 20/11/2018 12:39

AnotherOriginalUsername In our case, DMIL has the market cornered on the annual "jocks and socks" package (it's "knickers and tights" for the girls!).

I missed your post DontSweattheLittleStuff, Flowers

Vampiratequeen · 20/11/2018 12:39

I have bought my DH a step tracker for Christmas, it also monitors sleep, heart rate and stress levels.

Holidayshopping · 20/11/2018 12:42

Some really good ideas on here!

I might buy him a coffee maker, but am a bit overwhelmed by which one?!

tinytemper66 · 20/11/2018 12:46

I usually buy foodie stuff and some nice bottles of beer!
However he has suffered a heart attack in the last two weeks and so we have re-evaluate what he eats and drinks so I am at a loss. I have offered to get him a new phone. I had already bought him walking shoes-which will be useful for his recovery 😊

SallyWD · 20/11/2018 12:46

We don't buy each other anything for Christmas. I get stressed about the expense and would rather spend the money on our kids and our families. We really don't feel like we need or want anything from each other at Christmas (we get so many gifts from the family so we're not missing out). However we both have birthdays fairly near Christmas (give or take a couple of months) so we really go to town on our birthdays. Make each other breakfast in bed, get lots of presents, book a meal out somewhere. I'd much rather give my husband a special day on his birthday than spend money needlessly at Christmas.

thedevilinablackdress · 20/11/2018 12:48

Re. coffee maker @Holidayshopping, go for an Aeropress, they are the best!

greenlynx · 20/11/2018 12:52

Mine is hard to buy for too. I usually buy socks funny or luxurious ( like cashmere) something foodie like special fudge or honey, and something interesting for outdoor playing ( with our DD Smile) like a hammock or kite. This year he asked for something for the car so I bought it already.

ChubbyMummy12 · 20/11/2018 12:52

I've got my husband some aftershave, a mini drone, a 3D jigsaw puzzle, and some Jack Daniels honey fudge.

Birdie6 · 20/11/2018 12:53

We decided to "give" each other theatre tickets this year. I've booked them for our wedding anniversary which is two weeks after Christmas, so we've killed two birds with one stone.

Holidayshopping · 20/11/2018 12:54

@thedevilinablackdress

I’ve just been loooking at the Aeropress ones!

If you want to make 2 cups of coffee, do you have to wash it out between uses?

Do you know what the one with the permanent filter is like? It’s confusing as the picture shows it with a container or temporary paper filters as well?!

Girlicorne · 20/11/2018 12:57

We don't usually, as we prefer to spend all of our xmas budget on the DC and we don't really need anything but we have had a truly horrendous year and I would have broken down completely without him so this year I m going to do 12 vouchers for date nights, one a month (idea stolen from here!) and I may buy him a ps classic as well.

Burlea · 20/11/2018 12:58

We buy something for the house or garden between us.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 20/11/2018 13:00

Dontsweatthelittlestuff that's a lovely thing to do in your husband's memory each year and no doubt makes a huge difference. We had amazing support from the local hospice when my father was unwell.

I always try and do something charitable each year at Christmas. Usually I do one of the Christmas Eve/day/boxing day shifts on a mental health helpline that I volunteer for. This year I will have a small baby though, so doing something slightly different and will do some shoeboxes for the local homeless shelter appeal.

Blanchedupetitpois · 20/11/2018 13:01

Here are my greatest hits from the last few years:

Coffee machine
Smart watch
Mini drone with camera
Go pro
Voucher for glamping
Night in a fancy hotel
Posh slippers
Off road driving lesson
Theatre tickets
Nice wallet
Overnight bag
Subscription beer box
Good whisky
Crystal decanter and glasses
Board games

QuimReaper · 20/11/2018 13:02

@SolemnlySwear2010 Can I ask what bike accessories you've gone for? I'm a bit stuck too!

FilthyforFirth · 20/11/2018 13:03

Tickets to see The Manics! Had to get the bloody CD so I could pre-order but stocking aside that is him sorted. Boom!

KingscoteStaff · 20/11/2018 13:05

Theatre tickets and cinema pass

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/11/2018 13:05

dh has been a little resistant to my eco efforts, so he's going to get some bits like a reusable cup that I'll force into his hand each time he packs a bag some solid shampoo and a shaving soap. A proper woolly jumper made out of actual wool.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/11/2018 13:06

Wish we had a cellar...
