For fun
Who sleeps closest to the door if you're in a relationship?

OP posts:
DanielRicciardosSmile · 19/11/2018 21:56

DH sleeps closest to the door, but only because he sleeps on the left. In our previous houses I've slept nearest the door.

AleFailTrail · 19/11/2018 21:58

DP sleeps nearest the door, he wakes earlier and means he an wake me with a coffee :D

Bigonesmallone3 · 19/11/2018 22:08

I sleep on the left, closest to the door. Might have to switch once baby arrives as the Moses basket will be in front of the wardrobe and DP goes to work early 🤔

Threeminis · 19/11/2018 22:16

I sleep on the left if you're standing at the foot of the bed.

I'm right handed so need my dominant hand if we are dtd.. it's always been this way regardless of where we are.

Am I the only one who sleeps this way for this reason? Blush

StormcloakNord · 19/11/2018 22:17

Weird... I always seem to be on the left too regardless of which house/bed we sleep in!

TheNewbieStep · 19/11/2018 22:18

Always closet to the door, whatever side that is. X

MissCalamity · 19/11/2018 22:22

Left side for me, closer to the door & en-suite. We never change sides!

Bigonesmallone3 · 19/11/2018 22:25

@Threeminis that's hilarious 😂

InvisibleToEveryone · 19/11/2018 22:34

Laying in bed, I'm on the left, furthest from the door and alarm clock!!

Always have been, don't know how that was decided, can't remember.

Away anywhere I'm aways on the left too.

Though when hes not there, I have all the bed, and when he gets up I move to his bit!

MrsCatE · 19/11/2018 22:38

@threeminis. Unfortunately, picturing this - seems a tad - disconnected. Are you both DTD / foreplay on your backs???!

I just picture you side by side, wan&+NG him off quietly but determinedly. Surely if you were facing each other / smooching/ cuddling right arm and hand would be not be able to operate smoothly?

I'm ambidextrous plus can also open jars with toes so have no issues; just popular*

*lying Blush

SavageBeauty73 · 19/11/2018 22:40

Left side. Despite being single for 3 years 🤷‍♀️

MrsCatE · 19/11/2018 22:40

Bugger @ Threeminis just re-read your post. Surely you know this is MN and a diagram is required? Tut.

Threeminis · 19/11/2018 22:48

You're right Mrs I should have drawn a diagram. I've really let myself down.

BubblesBubblesBubbles · 19/11/2018 22:58

Dh always sleeps closest to the window - which is always open Hmm

So in our room looking at the bed I’m on the left dh on the right

If we swap to the spare room I’m on the right dh on the left.

Bunbunbunny · 19/11/2018 23:07

Right hand side of bed nearest to the door. DH used to be creeped out by a shadow that would move by my old bedroom door but never worried me as was used to it & didn't think about it till he pointed it out (very old house, we knew at least one person that died there). I feel more comfortable being near the door

Bunnybigears · 19/11/2018 23:09

Laying in bed Im on the right because thats the side the moses basket used to be on (11 years ago!)

Gillian1980 · 19/11/2018 23:20

threeminis I’m the same! I’m on his right, so when we’re snuggled up I can use my right hand.

shrunkenhead · 19/11/2018 23:22

From my own research women usually sleep on the left. I'm not sure why, but thinking of all the houses ice been in the left is usually nearer the door so might make sense with regards to getting up to sort out babies/children during the night.
Although even in child-free homes women still seem to go for the left!

amusedbush · 19/11/2018 23:43

I sleep on the left of our bed (as you’re looking at it from the bottom of the bed) but when we stay at hotels or go on holiday I automatically take the side closest to the door.

thighofrelief · 20/11/2018 00:03

Closest to the door and loo. The dogs sleep on the other side, or are meant to, bloody dogspreaders.

SemperIdem · 20/11/2018 00:05

I sleep on the left hand side, regardless of how close it is to the door. I’m left handed so I prefer the bedside table to be on the same side.

OneTwistedAngel · 20/11/2018 01:07

Right hand side away from the window with the door in front of me.

sunshineandshowers21 · 20/11/2018 01:13

on the left, partner on the right closest to the door, two lanky boys squashed in the middle.

KeepTheBloodyNoiseDown · 20/11/2018 01:16

Always on the left, nearest the door at the moment. Me and dp met at uni, where both our beds were pushed up against the wall and I didn’t like feeling trapped so it stuck from there.
threeminis I’m really confused as I’m left handed and dtd much easier on the left hand side of the bed, so I can use my dominant hand while we’re facing each other.

NameChangeToAvoidBeingFound · 20/11/2018 01:56

Currently single so I sleep smack bang in the middle of bed curled into a ball because is freezing in student housing Grin. I think if I was seeing someone it would be most likely that I’d sleep up against the wall (student rooms mean all doubles are against the wall) because I’m the smallest (4ft9) and a ridiculously heavy sleeper so unlikely to need or want to get out of the bed or up early. Even so I know from past experience that I’d end up basically lying on top of them during the night anyway.
