To ask which side of the bed you sleep on?

For fun
Who sleeps closest to the door if you're in a relationship?

OP posts:
Flev · 17/11/2018 23:19

I used to be on the right and him on the left (nearer the door) but we swapped so I'm now closer to the moses basket for night wakibfs with baby (only one place the basket could go). It took a while to get used to being on the opposite side though.

stinkypoo · 17/11/2018 23:20

Depends which side DD has crept into before I go up - am single so if she's not there, I sleep in the middle.

Clevs · 17/11/2018 23:23

Have always slept on the right as when I was still living with my parents my single bed was against a wall. So I only had one way to get out of bed. Upon leaving home and getting a king size bed I slept on the right as it meant I would be getting out of bed the same side that I was used to.

We've had to swap sides this year due to the arrival of a baby and I'm now on the left as that's where the Moses basket fitted and is also closer to the door now he's in his own room.

BarryTheKestrel · 17/11/2018 23:24

I sleep on the right of the bed. Initially it was the door side but we switched the room around so it's now furthest from the door.

MrsCatE · 17/11/2018 23:29

Like pisspawpatrol I have to sleep nearest to window.

Years ago, when we in a flat, some loon broke through the communal front door about 3a.m and started to try and break through our door - screaming his head off. DH leapt out of bed - completely starkers - and chased him off.

Compare to ex husband: shakes me awake, "I think I can hear someone downstairs, you better check". Reader, I did.

After discerning no intruder I asked why he thought sending his very small wife to confront an intruder was a good idea - he blustered that he was worried that he would hurt said imaginary intruder and get into trouble. God, he was a tosser.

InsomniacAnonymous · 17/11/2018 23:30

I have always slept here (thought I'd do a diagram as which is the right or left side of the bed depends on your point of view).

JaceLancs · 17/11/2018 23:32

Me - I need to get up more in night for toilet than he does

RavenLG · 17/11/2018 23:32

DH closest to door but I was closest to door in last house. It’s all about the side of the bed. I have to be on the right (left if you’re looking at it). Doesn’t matter where the doors or windows are. If we swapped sides we would both sleep facing each other and I can’t be doing with someone else’s breath in my face.

an1997 · 17/11/2018 23:34

Right side closest to the door, my babies on the other side😬

duckthisshit · 17/11/2018 23:35

I sleep away from the door so I don't get got 😐

bellsbuss · 17/11/2018 23:38

OH sleeps closest to the door so that if anyone broke in they would get him first

tigercub50 · 17/11/2018 23:39

On the left nearest the door. We have a completely different set up from our old house. At the old place you walked in & the bed was against the back wall as you looked across the room. Here, you open the door & the bed is immediately to your right along that wall. I miss being right outside the ensuite!

FrangipaniBlue · 17/11/2018 23:45

We have separate rooms (bliss!) but on occasions we do share a bed I always sleep on the left, regardless of door location Smile

LadyFidgetAndHerHandbag · 17/11/2018 23:45

I always sleep closest to the door cos I need to pee a lot. In the last two houses that's been the right (as you sit in the bed) but in the two before that it was the left.
Before I met my husband I had a tiny bedroom in a tiny flat and my double bed was up against the wall on the left side so although I slept like a starfish in the middle of the bed I always got out the right hand side so it took me a while to get used to being the other way round when we moved into a new place.

Ecofluffynanny · 17/11/2018 23:46

Closest to the loo, always 🤷‍♀️

Longdistance · 17/11/2018 23:48

I sleep in the spare bedroom. I’m an insomniac 😳

bourbonbiccy · 18/11/2018 00:22

Yep @duckthisshit that was my exact thinking.
My DH used to sleep closet to the door but then we had our DS so it was closer for me to get to him through the night. We do keep saying we will swap back, but whenever we get to that point my DS starts waking through the night again so we stay put lol

In all honesty my DH would probably sleep through someone walking past him to "get me got " anyway lol

justforareply · 18/11/2018 00:26

Always left side of bed
But I can't sleep facing into the bed so always sleep on one side and now my face is folding up, I think I may have to move sides Sad

Triskaidekaphilia · 18/11/2018 00:29

I am always on left from my perspective/right when looking at bed. I'm closest to the door now, and want to be as I get up to wee and DH rarely needs to. In the first bed we regularly shared he was closest to the door, we just haven't ever switched sides!

Triskaidekaphilia · 18/11/2018 00:31

Although techically DH is in the middle and cat is on the far right Grin

Mydogmylife · 18/11/2018 00:35

DH always on my left no matter where door/window is. Can't sleep otherwise

Bluntness100 · 18/11/2018 00:38

I'm on the left closest to the door, in previous house I was right, closest to the door, in the one before that my husband has been closest to the door, I don't think the door is relevant....

Gillian1980 · 18/11/2018 00:44

I’m on the right, furthest from the door in our room. But I’m always on the right regardless of room layout.

PlatypusPie · 18/11/2018 00:45

Started sleeping on the left, , moved to the left when pregnant for easy door to hallway to frequent loo access, kept sleeping that way when theDCs were little for night wakings, then moved to the left again when DH changed job with v early commute so he could silently glide out. Remained to the left ever since - home or away.

Auntpetunia2015 · 18/11/2018 00:49

When I’m on my own I sleep on the left when my OH is around I sleep on the right !
