For fun
Who sleeps closest to the door if you're in a relationship?

OP posts:
BrazzleDazzleDay · 17/11/2018 21:44

I'm on the left closest to the door, always have done as I'm a left side sleeper and feel like I can't breathe properly with something in my way, am I weird? Our room is long and narrowish and the door opens covering my entry to bed, so if the dc come in they walk right by the door to dh side Grin winning

Howhot · 17/11/2018 21:44

I always sleep furthest from the door. And yes it's because I'm paranoid about people sneaking in, in the night! I wake up at every noise and OH sleeps through it all anyway... hopefully we'll never actually experience any danger coming through the bedroom door.

Im heavily pregnant ATM though so we have swapped as with SPD and a constantly full ballader it makes life easier for bathroom trips...we will eventually swap back Grin

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 17/11/2018 21:45

Left away from the door

Stephisaur · 17/11/2018 21:46

DH sleeps closest to the door, so he sleeps on the left of the bed as you look at it.

We keep these sides at hotels too though, so often I am closest to the door then.

I absolutely have to face the door though. I can’t sleep if the door is behind my head (if that makes sense) and I prefer my back to face into the centre of the bed.

EggysMom · 17/11/2018 21:46

I sleep on the right. In this house, it means I'm next to the window and DH is next to the door; in the previous house it was the other way round (me nearer the door).

Howhot · 17/11/2018 21:46

Bladder not ballader!

TheFaerieQueene · 17/11/2018 21:46

The door isn’t near the bed and is facing the bed in a way, but I sleep on the left.

CantWaitToRetire · 17/11/2018 21:46

Whichever side I bloody want! Me and DH now have separate beds and separate rooms and it’s bliss not having him hogging more than half the bed and all of the quilt. Also I don’t get kept awake with his awful snoring...Zzzzzzzz

itsbritneybiatches · 17/11/2018 21:49

Always on the left, apparently you usually favour the side of the hand you wrote with.

No idea if it's true or not.

Bippityboo2 · 17/11/2018 21:50

Closest to the door so I can hear the kids.

cricketmum84 · 17/11/2018 21:50

Well I thought I always slept on the right, doesn't matter where we are we just default to those positions. But then thinking back I think that's Cos the left is always closest to the door? I'm thinking back through holidays and the only time I took the left side was when the right side was closest to the door! That's so strange that we do that without even realising.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 17/11/2018 21:55

DH always sleeps nearest to the door. If Fibgus the Bogeyman pops through the door, he’s getting DH first Grin

Frlrlrubert · 17/11/2018 21:55

DH likes to be closest to the door, because he's lazy to protect me from 'bears'.

hooveringhamabeads · 17/11/2018 21:58

Always left. It’s closest to the door at home but if we stay somewhere else then I still sleep on the left, regardless of the door.

Malibucyprus · 17/11/2018 22:00

I sleep on the left side, which is furthest from the door at home, but if we’re in a hotel/away from home, I still choose the left regardless of door position.

BinglyBunglyBoops · 17/11/2018 22:00

Left, same with the sofa.

VanessaShanessaJenkins · 17/11/2018 22:00

Always left. In the last 3 places we lived that meant closest to the door but here dh is closer.

jarhead123 · 17/11/2018 22:01

I'm on the left side, closest the door. Always need a wee in the night and always first up to kids x

TheChickenOfTruth · 17/11/2018 22:02

People saying "on the left" - is that on the left if you're sitting up in bed, or on the left as you look at the bed from the foot of the bed? I'm so confused!

Anyway, I sleep nearest the door. Right side if we're sitting up in bed. It was my house first and he started staying over, so he was the one who had to edge around the bed in the dark. Muhaha.

DramaAlpaca · 17/11/2018 22:03

On the right, closest to the door & nearest to the en-suite because I always get up in the night.

PetuliaBlavatsky · 17/11/2018 22:03

We swap round every now and again. In our old house I slept on the left (closest to the door), now I'm on the right (both sides are equal to the door). We swap in hotel rooms too and just pick whatever side we fancy.

Oneinthegrave · 17/11/2018 22:04

I sleep closest to the door to get up with DS if he wakes & to get up ready for work in the morning without waking DP. If DP goes to bed before me which he sometimes does after a particularly hard day at work, i slot in wherever i can. He tries to sleep in the middle

Passmethecrisps · 17/11/2018 22:07

I sleep on the left of the bed which in this house is furthest from the door. It was closest in our previous two houses. I get up to the loo multiple time a night so I think it came from that

Ragwort · 17/11/2018 22:08

Wherever I want, I’m another that just can’t sleep in the same bed as my DH despite being married over 30 years Grin. He has the (very comfortable) spare room. Do people really sleep well with someone else in the bed? Maybe I am a particularly light sleeper but I am very easily disturbed by just being in the same room as someone else.

BertramKibbler · 17/11/2018 22:08

LHS... nearest the en suite & window furthest from the landing door.
