For fun
Who sleeps closest to the door if you're in a relationship?

OP posts:
SayKnockKnock · 17/11/2018 22:12

I sleep on the left side of the bed (if you're standing at the bottom looking at the pillows) in this house I'm at the window and DH is at the door.
In hotels we stick to our sides so sometimes I'm at the door sometimes it's DH.

I can't sleep on his side of the bed it just feels wrong!
If DH is on nights I do sleep in the middle of the bed 😁

SecondTimeCharm · 17/11/2018 22:15

if you’re stood looking from the foot of the bed I’m on the left these days (furthest from the door) but DH and I have swapped many times over the years and I’ll be back on the other side once DD2 is born cos that’s where the sidecar cot fits!

Treaclepie19 · 17/11/2018 22:16

I sleep furthest away from the door wherever we are and whatever side that puts me on.

Treaclepie19 · 17/11/2018 22:17

(But I prefer the left side)

agentdaisy · 17/11/2018 22:35

If you're stood at the foot of the bed looking at it I sleep on the right side, we picked these sides because a cot will only fit at my side and I was the one dealing with night feeds. The door is at the end of the bed so we're both the same distance from it.

Before kids if we went away dh would sleep nearest the door now I think of it but now I always sleep on the same side as I'm so used to it and can't sleep on the 'wrong' side.

spicedemerald · 17/11/2018 22:42

If I’m on my own I sleep on the right, but when with DP the left-not sure why Confused

flojo73 · 17/11/2018 22:46

DH closest to the door, but the DCs always walk all the round to my side of the bed if they wake in the night...

Cuppaand2biscuits · 17/11/2018 22:52

My dp can apparently only sleep on the left side of the bed!
In our old house it meant he was closest to the door. In this house I am. Even in hotels or camping he has to be on the left regardless of layout!

SmallButFierce · 17/11/2018 22:56

I would always sleep closest to the door - I reckon because I can’t be arsed having to walk all the way round to get in it! DH doesn’t seem to care.

Athena51 · 17/11/2018 22:57

Closest to the door but I do spread out a bit of DP isn't there.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 17/11/2018 22:58

I sleep on the left opposite side to the door but I’m not arsed really. I slept on the other side when pregnant.

I’m a really restless sleeper in general so don’t have a preference for which way I face.

Sethis · 17/11/2018 23:01

The side closest to the wall, if there is one. I hate the possibility of falling out of bed, however remote.

If no wall available, usually me on the left, DP on right. I'm easy, but she prefers it that way round.

BringOnTheScience · 17/11/2018 23:02

I'm on the left at home because it's closest to the door and I'm always up in the night. If we go away, I still sleep on the left out of habit

gamerwidow · 17/11/2018 23:02

Left closest to the door at home, right at MIL, left generally if we’re away somewhere. Strangely at our old house 10 years ago I slept on the right and furthest away from the door. We’re moving soon wonder where I’ll end up Grin

PickAChew · 17/11/2018 23:03

I sleep on dh's left. Furthest from the door but it was the closest, in the last house.

FermatsTheorem · 17/11/2018 23:04

It's all mine, mwa ha ha. All of it!!!

Unless of course the cat is around in which case I am allowed the small sliver she is not occupying (for a small cat she can occupy a remarkably large amount of bed).

N0b0dysMot · 17/11/2018 23:04

I'm single and I sleep on the side nearest the door. The right side of the bed. But in my last house i slept on the left cos it was nearest the door. So you've just made me realise that my side is the side nearest the door. Hmm, if I ever get together with somebody will that be an issue? do both parties want that side?

JustAskingForAFriend · 17/11/2018 23:05

Always have to be closest to door.. So the right side for me. But would vary if stayed elsewhere depending on where door is.

Fullofthought · 17/11/2018 23:06

Single here and tend to start off one side and end up side ways in the bed by morning lol. Enjoy having the bed to myself

DontCallMeCharlotte · 17/11/2018 23:08

The left (from in the bed) which is furthest from the door but it was nearest the door in our last house. If we're away I usually sleep on the other side (which would be my preference at home but after 20 years, It's a hard habit to break). The door has no bearing.

Pieceofpurplesky · 17/11/2018 23:10

In theory as a single mum I should get it all. But usually squished between the cat and the dog (who isn't supposed to be there but gets himself out of the lounge).

Rachelover40 · 17/11/2018 23:13

My husband sleeps on left, next to door, and i on right. No rules about it, he has always slept on right, we just got into that don't know why.

Varies when we are away.

TheGhostOfYou · 17/11/2018 23:13

I always sleep on the right (when laying in bed, left of stood at the foot looking at the bed) and am closest to the door. I have been in every bed I've shared with DP

batshitbetty · 17/11/2018 23:14

DP sleeps closest to the door, but only because I need to sleep closest to the window (he gives off enough heat when he sleeps to rival the sun, and I have a weird 'must be cool and able to breath fresh air while I sleep' thing which I've had since childhood)

To be fair he can sleep standing up, so if we go somewhere different e.g stay with PILs, we swap sides so I can be near the window

pisspawpatrol · 17/11/2018 23:17

It used to be DH closest to the door because i've always had a thing about sleeping closest to the window. It has now turned into DH sleeps to my right no matter where we are, but I feel twitchy if i'm closest to the door.
