Who sleeps closest to the door if you're in a relationship?

Right in the middle with two dogs on top of the duvet against my back and legs. Disabled dog is under the duvet against my feet and shins. No more farting sweating male human making it uncomfortable.

DH sleeps closest to the door whenever we are.

1. he can get attacked first if there's an intruder.
2. hes for the world's smallest bladder and will get up for the toilet at least 5 times a night, whereas I don't get up at all.

I sleep on the left, regardless of where door is, at home, I happen to be nearest to the door. Husband is on my right, one pug sleeps on the pillow above husbands head and the other pug is under the duvet between us.

On the right in this house, on the left in our old place. Whilst in both instances it meant I was furthest from the door it’s more about plug sockets than anything else...

This might shock people but we don't have sides. We just sleep wherever, sometimes I'm nearer the door, sometimes he is. We also swap beds as we have a spare room and often have a few weeks in one room and a few in another. Not sue why!

I sleep on the left - we recently had an alarm fitted and the guy said he's noticed it's much more common for women to sleep in the left. Can't think why though.

I don’t have a left/right preference, but dh pointed out that I always choose closest to the door/furthest from the window. No idea why.

DP sleeps closest to the door so that when a mad axeman comes in the room in the dead of night he’ll get murdered first 😳 (please note this is just a little joke we’ve had for years).

On the right, which in our old house and currently is closest to the door. When we decorate the room that is actually ours in this house DH will be closest to the door.

I always slept on side furthest away from the door.. until I got pregnant and needed to be closer to the bathroom - we've never changed back since!

I'm on the left, DH is closest to the door in this house, but in our last house I was closest to the door (and still on the left).

We're a bit weird though - whenever we go away and are sleeping in a bed other than our own, we nearly always swap sides... It makes it feel 'more like we're on holiday' apparently, according to DH!

On the left, closest to the door. On holiday I always sleep closest to the door, sometimes on the right. Probably because when dc were babies I always woke up before dh. I now have them trained to ALWAYS shout for dad

On the left closest to the door. Used to be the other side but Dh was on home dialysis for 7 years so needed to change sides to plug himself into the machine at night. Just recently had his transplant. Don't know if we'll swap back!

I've always slept on the left except when DS1 was a baby and the cot had to be on the right because of the shape of the room. We've lived in several different houses over the years and the position of the door has varied, but with that one exception, our positions in the bed haven't. I'm not aware of any particular reason why we sleep that way round - if there is one, it probably has something to do with the side DH mainly lies on (I lie on both sides equally but on my back most of all) and it's certainly never occurred to me that the man should automatically sleep near the door. I think if I was worried about intruders (which I'm not) I would rather be the one to face them.

Left like my politics (well, when there actually was a left. No Corbyn doesn't count. Wome/bus etc)
