For me, Malory Towers. I still love those books and always enjoy reading about the outdoor pool, Gwendoline's misdemeanours, and Mamzelle's eccentricities.

I went to boarding school at 10. I was given the choice. I thought it would be like the Chalet school.
It wasn't like the Chalet school Sad

Mc180768 · 16/11/2018 15:44

Mallory Towers for me.

Loved Darryl - the fact she had a boys name threw me. I wanted a boys name. Like Jamie the bionic woman.

KERALA1 · 16/11/2018 15:45

OMG the Chalet school. The middle European mystery. The snow. I loved those books. Can anyone find them?! Are they out of print? Would love my 10 year old to read.

Lulu1919 · 16/11/2018 15:47

St Claire’s

KERALA1 · 16/11/2018 15:48

I realised recently that I accidentally named a child an incredibly close approximation of Gwendoline Mary Lacy. The name must have been lodged somewhere in back of my mind. Her name is the same syllables exactly just the odd letter changed. What was I thinking she's so annoying!

bengalcat · 16/11/2018 15:50

St Trinians - bad girl !

mumofmunchkin · 16/11/2018 15:50

Chalet school!

Isleepinahedgefund · 16/11/2018 15:50

Definitely the Chalet school. Or Malory Towers if they were full. Malory towers had a much better Mam’zelle than St Clare’s.

I think most people who know me would agree I’d fit in best at St Trinians though!

Man, I used to love school stories, couldn’t get enough of them. Going to boarding school was my dream (to escape my unreasonable parents!)

Worriedandanxiousmama · 16/11/2018 15:51

The Chalet School. Hugest disappointed when I discovered it wasn’t real.

TeenTimesTwo · 16/11/2018 15:51

Gwendoline Macey Lucy?
Madeline Masie Lucy?

RangeRider · 16/11/2018 15:55

It would have to be Hogwarts as there was no mention of swimming or sports in freezing cold weather (Quidditch doesn't count). Otherwise Malory Towers.

BowiesJumper · 16/11/2018 15:58

Trebizon. There were BOYS (in the neighbouring school). Come on!

Ariclock · 16/11/2018 16:01

Hogwarts without a doubt. I'd have been in hufflepuff!

Kemer2018 · 16/11/2018 16:02

Hogwarts

Aeroflotgirl · 16/11/2018 16:03

OOOh Hogwarts, I already went to boarding school as a kids, very Malory Towers Smile.

InsomniacAnonymous · 16/11/2018 16:04

CalamityJane10 "Whyteleafe School from the Blyton Naughtiest Girl books."

Oh I really loved those books. I remember them every time I pass Roedean.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 16/11/2018 16:04

Can't believe that no one has chosen St. Elmo's, the alma mater of the Four Marys..!

That's my choice.

Marcipex · 16/11/2018 16:07

The Chalet School on the Tiernsee.

I do think there was awful bullying at Malory Towers.

TheDowagerCuntess · 16/11/2018 16:14

St Clare's because they're the books of my childhood, but have just finished reading Malory Towers with DD, and they do seem to have the edge.

All the sending people to Coventry, often on a misunderstanding is awful though, especially when they're all supposed to be such 'decent' girls.

Tanith · 16/11/2018 16:36

GerdaLovesLiIi · 16/11/2018 16:44

Or possibly St Custards.

To wonder which fictional boarding school you'd like to have attended?
RedHelenB · 16/11/2018 16:45

I'd love to be bilingual or trilingual so the Chalet schoo

Id love to have my pet dog woth me so Kingscote (have them all but one cost £100 as it's a first edition.

I'd love the magic but would be a bit scared of the dragons and beasts so not Howard's.

Loved Enid Blyton as a child but can't stand the books as an adult.

Grimbles · 16/11/2018 16:46

Ha! I was going to sai st. custards chiz chiz chiz

ScreamingValenta · 16/11/2018 16:47

I'm an Antonia Forest fan and for that reason ... I wouldn't chose the awful, awful place that is Kingscote Grin.

I think I'd go for Malory Towers like the OP. I'd pal up with Gwendoline and we could moan about sports together.

Grimbles · 16/11/2018 16:47

Most of the Malory Towers 'heroines' were grade a bitches. Darrell was a violent thug to boot.
