For me, Malory Towers. I still love those books and always enjoy reading about the outdoor pool, Gwendoline's misdemeanours, and Mamzelle's eccentricities.

Hogwarts, for the treacle tart if nothing else.

mostdays · 16/11/2018 15:04

Miss Cackle's Academy for Witches

Bubblysqueak · 16/11/2018 15:04

St Clair's or Hogwarts.

BreconBeBuggered · 16/11/2018 15:04

I honestly thought I'd be going to boarding school at 11, harbouring a wilful blindness to the secondary school kids getting off the bus at the end of our council estate road. I both liked and dreaded the idea of Malory Towers or St Clare's. I was sure I could hold my own in the classroom, but the whole lacrosse and swimming larks brought out my inner Gwendoline Mary. The Chalet School seemed too exotic for me - I didn't even have a passport.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 16/11/2018 15:06

I loved the Chalet School, but I wouldn't have lasted five minutes with the cold baths and being trilingual. And if I went to Kingscote I would have been one of the unpopular ones.

Trebizon sounded fun though!

TeenTimesTwo · 16/11/2018 15:07

Calamity I don't think I would have wanted to give up all my birthday money to everyone else. I would have asked for money/presents to stay at home until the holidays.

ilovepixie · 16/11/2018 15:07

Chalet school.

Lydiaatthebarre · 16/11/2018 15:08

I would like a school that had a combination of the fun and excitement of Malory Towers and the family atmosphere and kind teachers of the Chalet School.

Chalet Towers, maybe?

MereDintofPandiculation · 16/11/2018 15:08

I knew someone who went to the real St Trinians (it was a school in Edinburgh). She said it made applying for jobs a bit difficult - everybody felt you were not taking the application form seriously.

BuffaloCauliflower · 16/11/2018 15:08

Chalet School for me too.

@DappledThings I think we’d be good friends Grin

MerlinsScarf · 16/11/2018 15:08

Miss Cackle's Academy for me too. Maybe we've got lessons together, mostdays?

bokkleorandoove · 16/11/2018 15:09

Hogwarts I think. Someone needs to a buzzfeed quiz for this

bokkleorandoove · 16/11/2018 15:09

*needs to do

Tanith · 16/11/2018 15:09

Really, Bertrand? I love Antonia Forest and think she's by far the best author, but part of that writing is the realism that Kingscote was a miserable, place at times.

I think I'd choose the Chalet school for the meals alone Grin

Blanchedupetitpois · 16/11/2018 15:10

Hoggy Warty Hogwarts

Lydiaatthebarre · 16/11/2018 15:11

I always felt St Ronan's in the Susan books was quite realistic as well - although the books are much more light hearted than the Kingscote ones.

SusanWalker · 16/11/2018 15:13

The chalet school.

I love Mallory Towers but feel in real life that pool would have been freezing. I don't think I would have been sporty enough.

Goldengroveunleaving · 16/11/2018 15:13

The Abbey School, in the Elsie J. Oxenham books. I loved the descriptions of the May Queens, each with their flower/plant themed trains and crowns. There are lots and lots of books in the series and another thing I loved was that the daughters of some of the original girls appear in later books.

NorfolkNellie · 16/11/2018 15:13

Trebizon or Hogwarts

CheeseEater · 16/11/2018 15:14

Malory Towers - but mainly for the pool

Frogscotch7 · 16/11/2018 15:17

Trebizon! I’d have been totally inspired to get off my arse and do some exercise! Or Hogwarts for sure. Who wouldn’t want to fly - quidditch sounds a bit brutal though.

Bit wary of Malory Towers - the girls were such bitches to Gwendoline and so horrible about her being fat and spotty.

Maybe St Clare’s but all the talent everywhere would make me feel very inferior.

Definitely NOT the Chalet school. Bunch of goody two shoes waiting around for a big strong man to come and marry them. Ugh.

NewtScamandersNaughtyNiffler · 16/11/2018 15:18

As a child I would have said Whytleafe without a doubt.

Then Harry Potter happened.

HumphreyCobblers · 16/11/2018 15:20

Oh the Abbey School is very appealing! All those romantic dances (although folk dancing is much less glamorous in RL imo) and May Queen crownings. I remember I thought hard about what my flower and colour would be as Queen - dark pink and apple blossom I think.

Overall though I would go for Kingscote, just on the offchance I could have made friends with Tim and Lawrie.

hels71 · 16/11/2018 15:21

Definitely the Chalet School!

HumphreyCobblers · 16/11/2018 15:22

The girls at Malory Towers and St Clares were rather mean. Always dishing out appalling abuse and then being critical because those on the receiving end of it were not sufficiently humble.
