For me, Malory Towers. I still love those books and always enjoy reading about the outdoor pool, Gwendoline's misdemeanours, and Mamzelle's eccentricities.

Chalet School the Tyrol year's!

AlexaShutUp · 16/11/2018 17:48

Chalet school, no contest!

The real Malory Towers: Lulworth Castle in Dorset

SockQueen · 16/11/2018 17:55

Definitely the Chalet School! Though higher than average chance of serious injury in an avalanche/flood/rockslide, it'll all be ok because a handsome local doctor will save me and then lurk not at all predatorially until I'm old enough to leave school and fall into his arms. Who needs a career?!

Ohyesiam · 16/11/2018 17:57

Hoggy warty Hogwarts

Urbanbeetler · 16/11/2018 18:00

I’d like to go to Lowood but as a new head teacher so I could make sure the girls were fed, nurtured and loved.

I still have bad dreams about poor Helen Burns.

SureIusedtobetaller · 16/11/2018 18:04

Chalet school. All that coffee and cake!
I love the Kingscote books but as others have said, they are just too realistic.
I suspect the cold baths at the Chalet school and the no nonsense attitude would send me scuttling off though. And I’m a bit working class so I don’t think I’d be the right kind of gal Grin

bumblebee39 · 16/11/2018 18:05

Hogwarts

Got a feeling I'm a closet hermione 🙈

MrsMoastyToasty · 16/11/2018 18:12

I would have gone to Mallory Towers.

I was also at a girls boarding school -as a day girl- in the 80s. There was considerably more alcohol and cigarettes...

notthiscrapagain · 16/11/2018 18:16

The chalet school for me

MrsMoastyToasty · 16/11/2018 18:19

DH says he would like to have gone to Start Trinian's the pervert

Tanith · 16/11/2018 18:22

And, believe it or not, this is the real Chalet School - the location, not the actual building, though:

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 16/11/2018 18:24

The chalet school for me. Switzerland. So I could annoy Mary Lou.

MiddlingMum · 16/11/2018 18:27

I spent half of my childhood wishing I could go to Mallory Towers.

chaoscategorised · 16/11/2018 18:29

Another one for Whyteleaf! I would definitely have been the naughtiest girl.

chaoscategorised · 16/11/2018 18:31

Ooh or the school in What Katy Did At School - just because it sounds so much fun getting their giant Christmas boxes from home. I've never forgotten reading that for the first time and thinking it sounded amazing.

ChessieFL · 16/11/2018 18:32

Trebizon definitely! Love those books. Always thought it was a shame she stopped after 5th year and didn’t carry on into 6th form.

ChessieFL · 16/11/2018 18:34

Chaos I love Katy at School and the Christmas boxes too! With Debby’s jumbles!

Thesexyskeleton · 16/11/2018 18:34

Hogwarts!

I’d be brewing potions in the loos and enjoying the fact that my house is situated next to the kitchens. Amazing.

oldsewandsew · 16/11/2018 18:34

Ooh, love this thread! Definitely Malory Towers or St Claire’s for me, although I think Malory Towers probably wins. That swimming pool in the sea (although I would be absolutely terrified in real life!)

TheWernethWife · 16/11/2018 18:35

St Trinian's for me. Could be worth a fortune with all that training in how to make gin, owning my own distillery.

steff13 · 16/11/2018 18:40

Hogwart's. Disclaimer: I think that's the only fictional boarding school I know of, besides Eastland from The Facts of Life.

LadyFidgetAndHerHandbag · 16/11/2018 18:40

I've not read any of the Enid Blyton ones but they all seemed a bit too jolly hockey sticks for me. I'd probably have chosen Hogwarts if the books were around when I was a kid but the lax health and safety rules make me a bit twitchy these days.
I did go to boarding school for a bit (rural Australia, not posh) and it was fine but nothing like any books I've read.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 16/11/2018 18:45

The Chalet School! Imagine - 2 weeks in San for opening the front door when it was cold. Also, I have actually caught pneumonia from falling in a lake, so I would fit right in. Robin should have come and sung me back to life.

Ichbinstoltz · 16/11/2018 18:48

Kylemore Abbey. But it turns out it's not fictional. It did exist and the building still does. MIL brought dd a book back from her holidays in Ireland set in this haunted castle/school in Ireland. It's like Mallory Towers in reality but with a spooky spin Shock.

I'm not sure I would have survived boarding school at all though, no matter how amazing the setting.
