To think my partner is having an affair because of strange delivery?

My partner has been working away a lot in the last 3 months. Like almost constantly away Mon to Fri. That's fine.

Today a parcel came, I get a lot from e bay and it looked like an e bay parcel... hand written address, post office packaging etc.

I opened it as i was expecting some tops I had bought from e bay. I opened it and it was my partners shirt. Washed, ironed and folded. No note but by the address it said from honey???? In pen.

I asked him why his shirt has been delivered and he said he has bought another from e bay???? Why would you. It's not even one of his nice ones.
Am I being a big mad paranoid loser?

Sometimes people don't put paperwork in an EBay delivery. I received items before just wrapped with no note as proof of purchase is all online. Do some research.

naicepineapple · 14/11/2018 20:00

@badirene surely he wouldn't make up a story about ordering it from eBay if that was the case?

Mumshotel · 14/11/2018 20:00

Sorting kids. I'll let you know in a bit

Ask to see his eBay purchase history, if he has nothing to hide then he won't mind showing you although you can hide items you've purchased so maybe check his PayPal account too

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 14/11/2018 20:00

I doubt any mistress would wash, iron and send back a shirt to their lover tbh.

ReflectionsofParadise · 14/11/2018 20:02

Only a spiteful lover would do that. If he is, she wants him to get caught.

badirene · 14/11/2018 20:02

@naicepineapple As I wrote trying to see the innocent side, would not take any explanations without proof. It is a horrible position to be in, been there and got the (non laundered, non ironed) shirt.

Alwaysasparklymoment99 · 14/11/2018 20:02

I agree. Not all things sent out by ebay have an invoice. I would go onto his computer and check out his account. It should be there. If not, he is lying. Also there must be a number of people with the user name honey. I doubt its rare.

lalalalyra · 14/11/2018 20:03

A pissed off one who wanted to make a point might.

SuchAToDo · 14/11/2018 20:03

Does the parcel packaging have a return address?.

FearLoveAndTheTimeMachine · 14/11/2018 20:03

He will be able to prove it easily by showing you his eBay account and the bank transaction for the item, as well as the other shirt.

I wouldn’t be surprised if a really dim mistress posted it to his home assuming you’d be out or that you wouldn’t open his mail. Or maybe she doesn’t even know about you.

Nothisispatrick · 14/11/2018 20:04

That is weird. Checking his eBay account seems like the best next step

Zoflorabore · 14/11/2018 20:05

Wouldn't it have tags? Was it an expensive shirt? He is definitely lying op sorry.

He's probably just said the first thing that came into his head. And honey??? Who would write that from eBay?

SaucyJack · 14/11/2018 20:06

I think he’s left his shirt round the house of somebody who wants you to think he’s been having an affair.

Whether that’s because he has, and the other person is bitter, or he’s turned down the opportunity and the other person is bitter.... I can’t say.

Weebitawks · 14/11/2018 20:07

Op I hope it came across that my aggressiveness was aimed at other posters on this thread making assumptions, not you!

CrispbuttyNo1 · 14/11/2018 20:07

I never ever sent anything out from eBay with an invoice. I might have put a note in with my seller name though. I wouldn’t think the worst just yet. If you know his eBay account name, go onto goofbay and you should be able to check his purchase history,

BollocksToBrexit · 14/11/2018 20:08

If this were my DH it wouldn't bother me. I'd just file it away in the 'weird shit DH does' folder in my brain. But he does have a habit of doing really weird stuff for no apparent reason.

margaritasbythesea · 14/11/2018 20:08

You can search for the shirt on eBay with colour, size etc and then refine by 'sold items'. This will tell you if one has been sold recently. Of course, you have to allow for the fact that it might have been listed a bit oddly but it would give a start for a conversation.

Blanchedupetitpois · 14/11/2018 20:09

What lover would post the shirt back?! That is way, way less plausible than it being an eBay purchase.

Trampire · 14/11/2018 20:11

Not many affair lovers would have a full address plus postcode.

I'm still not entirely sure of some of my friends addresses and I've known them 20+ years.

Hocusypocus · 14/11/2018 20:14

I'd want cast iron proof of purchase if I were you, given the peculiar circumstances.

If he's innocent he can put the matter to bed within minutes.

If he refuses to show proof that he bought it from ebay then that would be quite telling.

wineandcheeseplease · 14/11/2018 20:14

I'd assume he was innocent

Petalflowers · 14/11/2018 20:14

I think it’s a bit strange that a lover would send it back (unless she wanted to cause trouble).

More likely the hotel. Does the parcel postmark match where he has just been?

However, dh saying he bought it off eBay is suspect, especially if he has lots of shirts so one wouldn’t be missed.

You are nota mad paranoid looser, but someone who wants answers.

onefishtwofishthreefish · 14/11/2018 20:14

Does seem a bit strange but could be completely innocent. I'd check eBay for recently sold shirts and check his account if he lets you. I've sold clothes on eBay and I make sure they're washed and folded well but obviously they're without an invoice.

winterisstillcoming · 14/11/2018 20:15

Can you log onto his ebay without him knowing?
