The DUP are absolute wankers.

I am not in the UK. I do sympathise with the Brexit disaster unfolding, I know people in the UK have much bigger concerns for their economy, than the NI border and GFA.

I am horrified the DUP were invited in. They are nasty poison bastards and I fear they will not agree to anything because it makes things different in NI. They do not care about cross border business, or fighting, as long as there the same as the UK. It is all a nightmare.
I watched a few clips on YouTube of Pop goes Northern Ireland of different stages during the troubles. It is very good, for anyone unaware of the fighting in NI.
Not an aibu. Just a rant.

IDontGiveAFuckWhatArleneWears · 14/11/2018 17:22

To be fair to the DUP (there's a sentence I never thought I'd type) I don't think they're quite at KKK level yet.

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 14/11/2018 17:24

“they are NOT terrorists or racists”,

Have you heard any of them talk about racial issues or immigration? In particular Sammy Wilson?

LadyGregorysToothbrush · 14/11/2018 17:25

I’m not so sure about them not being racists.

Plenty of people and parties around the world are racists and terrorists. Some of Europe have the real far right and left to content with. Being elected and being repulsive, offensive and dangerous aren’t mutually exclusive. Not everyone elected is working for the good of the people, or even the good of the people they elected.

@apintofharpandapacketofdates Pre-Brexit I would have said the future was bright for NI. Lots of growth, especially in tech, legal and finance. But a hard border would lead to disaster, I suspect. There's some hope to be bad if the "shallow end" proposal gets through in that NI might end up being quite an attractive place for businesses to be - one foot in either camp and cheap labour. But that's a dwindling hope, and could only be bad for the rest of the U.K. imo.

bellinisurge · 14/11/2018 17:38

Depends how you look at it @IDontGiveAFuckWhatArleneWears
Google UVF and DUP if you think they aren't terrorist sympathisers.

MsMamaNature · 14/11/2018 17:39

Going off on a slight tangent - if you feel strongly that the DUP are not representing women by blocking talks on abortion then you could fill in the survey at www.alliance4choice.com and click "read more" under the main article regarding appeal 58/59. The deadline is 9th December.

Notreallyhappy · 14/11/2018 17:46

unknownstuntman last time I checked wales was a country too...

shakethatass · 14/11/2018 17:55

@BishBoshBashBop ok I got a little excited... not being goady tho.
I really feel like the DUP need to have a fall. They sit there on their high moral horse, getting away with absolute murder. In what other world would a political party get away with so much corruption?
RHI / Red sky / Dee stitt / the Sri Lanka scandal which left paisley strutting around the place like the cheeky bastard he is! It's infuriating!!!

And for balance, I think that Sinn Fein are just as bad!!

We need politicians with COURAGE!
Think John Hume, Mark Durkin, David Trimble... Magennis and Paisley Snr.... Mo Molam
These people had balls of steel and the courage of lions. We need people like them. People with drive and passion to do the right thing for once.

Arlene and her cronies are putting their 'precious union' above all else. Including putting our futures at risk. It's economic suicide! The brits couldn't give a flying fuck about us! Correct me if I'm wrong, my English cousins... do you care about the union??

Arlene says on one hand that she wants no difference between NI and the rest of GB... that we are as 'British as Finchley'
When it suits you Arlene... what about all the gay couples who are denied marriage equality because you and your mates abused the petition of concern to stop the bill passing??!!! What about a woman's autonomy over her body when it comes to her reproductive rights?
Why is it ok for NI to be different on these fronts???

And as for Karen Bradley... does she even know where ireland is??!

shakethatass · 14/11/2018 18:00

Oh and before I forget... whilst they are all up there on the moral high ground, I have the following on good authority, from a very credible source:

  • 1 prominent DUP member has a super injunction out against the media from reporting the fact that he's had allegations of historical child sex abuse against him. The case is pending.
  • 1 prominent member has recently left his family to 'lie with another man'
  • 2 prominent members are having an extra marital affair with each-other

These people preach about the importance of the institution of marriage and how it is defined in the bible.

They really are horrendous beyond belief! Awful! Wretched! Twisted bitter bastards!

We need stronger leaders. We need the likes of Naomi long, robin swann and Colum Eastwood. And a Secretary of State who has a basic understanding of our history!

And breathe

Poodles1980 · 14/11/2018 18:11

Shakethatass what about iris and her toy boy!!

shakethatass · 14/11/2018 18:13

Fuck yeah I forgot about that!!!
I wonder does peter still let her go to the shop??!

IDontGiveAFuckWhatArleneWears · 14/11/2018 18:16

I don't think there's anyone in North Antrim doesn't know who the two "prominent" members are, to be fair.

MadeinBelfast · 14/11/2018 18:19

@scubadoobie, well said. I don't know why anyone of my generation (80's kid) or younger would support the DUP. Unfortunately there are people that do. Last time I saw IP junior he was having lunch surrounded by adoring 20-somethings. It really put me off my food.
We need someone or something new. A party that is mildly unionist but happy to support a united Ireland if it became clear that's what the public wanted. Liberal views on abortion and gay marriage. An actual interest in finding out how best to support education and the NHS. Ideas about how to support the economy and encourage entrepreneurs and businesses to realise this is a pretty good place to live and work with a well-educated population.
At the minute I've noone to vote for really. I do vote but usually for an independent and they aren't going to topple big Jeff any time soon Sad

shakethatass · 14/11/2018 18:22

@IDontGiveAFuckWhatArleneWears to be fair it's probably one of the worst kept secrets... but I don't want the peelers at my door lol

Firstbornunicorn · 14/11/2018 18:27

@IDontGiveAFuckWhatArleneWears I don't know who they are but I can hazard a guess at one of them at least...

shakethatass · 14/11/2018 18:28

@MadeinBelfast I'd say there are a lot more voters of our generation than you think.
I think a lot of people literally don't know who to vote for, because there is no viable alternative to DUP and Sinn Fein. Or because their parents vote for them. Everything is orange and green here and it is so fucking tiresome.
Look at how progressive the south has become... they have made huge leaps and shunned the church in favour of the liberal society you refer to.
This place is doomed under DUP / Sinn Fein... but it's almost like self harm / abuse! Why the fuck do we keep voting them in??!!

(I definitely didn't vote for them... just to be clear!)

shakethatass · 14/11/2018 18:29

@Firstbornunicorn you may be a little off track there...

shakethatass · 14/11/2018 18:33

I've just put on the BBC local news here in NI... Arlene is tripping over her words and sammy looks forlorn.
awwwwww 😭😭

Firstbornunicorn · 14/11/2018 18:36

@shakethatass actually it seems I was barking up the wrong tree altogether!

shakethatass · 14/11/2018 18:37

You may have been right with your half...😂
