Posting for traffic as general health isn't helping!!

This may be too much information but I don't know how to get advice without giving the details! I was wondering if anyone else has experienced a tingling/buzzing in their nipples that could be a sign of menopause or pre menopause along with sore boobs. I have only had experience of it in pregnancy and I refuse to go there! My last period was only a day of oldish looking blood(sorry I said tmi) and then last week I had a few days of just a little blood when I wiped but nothing more. I am hoping this is all a sign I am heading to menopause and nothing more scary. Any ideas (apart from the unmentionable because I refuse to acknowledge that)

Eek good luck op!

Amberheartkitty · 14/11/2018 00:01

You can get tests in Wilkinson’s that show if you are going through menopause. It’s like a pregnancy test. Get that and a pregnancy test. Then report back to us obviously 😁 good luck

elfycat · 14/11/2018 00:05

I'm 47 and have been peri-menopausal for 3 years or so. I've only had 3 periods this year (no need to POAS) and my DM was done and dusted with the whole thing by 50. Short, sharp, nasty menopause stuff going on here but looking forwards to the other side.

Yes to weird fizzing, I get in behind my nipples and also by my sternum. It was a weird ache so I've been and had a mammogram (not as bad as I was expecting),

POAS if there's any chance of pregnancy. But it's all hormones so symptoms are similar. If in doubt and you're worried about anything see your GP.

Atchiclees · 14/11/2018 00:13

I’m having the exact same thing and will be POAS tomorrow. I have secondary infertility through PCOS so I do occasionally get the same feelings that match early pregnancy sensation rather than period, but never turn into a positive test. Had to have fertility treatment for my last child as I don’t ovulate regularly.
My last period was May, I’m a fraction over 40, there is a remote possibility that I could be pregnant, so will POAS to find out either way but I’m not expecting a positive as have had the feelings before. Sometimes I would have a light barely there period, or brown old blood and this sensation so OP it could well be hormonal imbalance. Good luck for the result you want.

…bra is off, I am in for the night.

Precisely.

BlueEyedBengal · 14/11/2018 00:46

Have you done the test yet? By the way I had 2 of my 6 children in my 40s 42 and 44 .

CanuckBC · 14/11/2018 00:47

Wanting to know if you tested as well😁

ReflectionsofParadise · 14/11/2018 01:24

Pee stick marking

WombOfOnesOwn · 14/11/2018 01:37

@Atchiclees, did you know that research is pointing more and more toward PCOS women having higher fertility after they turn 40 than most women over 40? Apparently PCOS ovaries stay producing viable eggs for longer than normal ovaries.

User02 · 14/11/2018 01:43

My "menopause" is all grown up with DC of their own!
Not to scare you too much.
I argued with Dr I was not pregnant. Dr said just give a sample to shut me up then. Got a call later that day! I was not in the menopause!
Good luck - let us all know

Atchiclees · 14/11/2018 01:45

@WombOfOnesOwn No! Have not heard that, interesting. I shall find out tomorrow when I POAS. Although my last period was so long ago I really think I’m have not been ovulating.

notangelinajolie · 14/11/2018 01:51

I know it's nearly 2am but can't you just send your DH off to the all night chemist? Tingly nipples in my case were menopause at 37 so you could be barking up the right tree here. However, on the other hand … the general opinion on Mumsnet is that number 4 may be on their way. Either way can you please report back?

kooshbin · 14/11/2018 02:13

Well, obviously you have to pee on a stick. But menopausal symptoms are not well documented, because they're hugely variable and of not much interest to the medical profession.

Just as it takes a few years for puberty to settle down, it can also take a few years for menopausal symptoms to settle down. At either end, it's not an on/off switch, it's a rollercoaster of hormones. I can't recall when exactly I had twinging nipples, but it was only a few years ago, and I'm nearly 70.

KeiTeNgeNge · 14/11/2018 03:03

What was the result?

shiveringtimber · 14/11/2018 03:17

I heard that Nicole Kidman's PG and she's over 50.Confused

shiveringtimber · 14/11/2018 03:21

Or was it Julia Roberts? Or maybe just random celebrity gossip.

Flobalob · 14/11/2018 03:22

I've had similar "pregnancy" signs. Peed on a stick - negative! Similar age as you.

honeysucklejasmine · 14/11/2018 03:33

Good luck, OP. I never got tingly nipples in pregnancy, or I never noticed because I was too busy throwing up.

1forAll74 · 14/11/2018 03:46

Well congratulations for something or other, be it going to the shop for pregnancy test kit, or the other.. I was joking really !!

I am 70 plus, and have buzzing and other sensations in my head. as I suffer with tinnitus all the time.. off topic, sorry, !!

Newbabyat47 · 14/11/2018 04:53

Hey no, ask away! I have three other children, 20, 15 and 13 😀. This is a new relationship (well 5 years now) so is a whole new adventure. She came early on Morhers’ Day in March so is already a very sweet addition to the family 😊.

MsHopey · 14/11/2018 05:07

I have got the least sensitive nipples in the world, but during pregnancy they are so sensitive everything hurts them. No buzzing and tingling just all out pain.
But I also get a very light bleed during implantation so it could really go either way.
I know you are worried it'll come back positive but the only way to make yourself feel better is to the test and then handle the result as best as you can.

Graphista · 14/11/2018 05:09

Erm sorry, I'm an ex nurse - wanna know how many of the women on the 30 bed maternity ward I was on during training, thought their early pregnancy symptoms were menopause? 8! That's like 1/4 of them? Have you not seen father of the bride 2?

I've also 3 friends that firmly thought their surprise late babies were meno (one - infamously among our circle - said to the dr giving her the news "I can't be pregnant! I'm a bloody grandmother!")

and both grandmothers who gave me an aunt and uncle who are both far closer to me in age than my parents their siblings. Both in their late 40's at the time of giving birth.

"The kids will know we did the deed!!!!" 😂😂😂

I've a 17 yo too, I can't decide if kids knowing is worse than parents when we were kids!

tasdee · 14/11/2018 05:21

I'm most definitely not pregnant and have had this one and off for a few cycles. Our family seem to go through the menopause in early 40s and I'm in my 30s. I think it's peri for me. It almost fells like a letdown with breastfeeding - boobs feeling tingly and buzzing - but then of course nothing happens and it just fades away. I hate it but assume it's part of peri and my GP couldn't give a flying fuck about any of the awful symptoms.

TimeToRevolutionize · 14/11/2018 05:57

Just do a pregnancy test! If there's a chance you are pregnant, then you probably are... all the best x

Theworldisfullofgs · 14/11/2018 06:05
