To think the asymmetric rear end on the Discovery is an abomination

Every time I drive behind one I recoil at the sight, there is just something so offensive to the eye about the asymmetric design

I am not someone who generally pays much attention to cars at all but every time I see one I feel a sense of horror

Some things really ought to be symmetrical and cars are one of those things IMHO

I agree. They're hideous.

RedneckStumpy · 12/11/2018 21:08

I can’t say it has ever bothered me, the design is leftover from the older models as that’s where the spare tire would go

BluthsFrozenBananas · 12/11/2018 21:09

I can’t remember ever seeing one, but I find the idea of a car with an asymmetric rear more than a little unsettling. YANBU

YANBU

MotorcycleMayhem · 12/11/2018 21:13

YANBU. A neighbour has one and every time I drive down the road towards where they park it, I think how ridiculous the design is. The position of the number plate looks all wrong.

GrumpySausage · 12/11/2018 21:15

YANBU

It offends my eyes. It's such a shame as the rest of the car is lovely. But the back just looks like it's had a shunt and a bad fix job.

PoliticalBiscuit · 12/11/2018 21:15

Pic?

ethelredonagoodday · 12/11/2018 21:21

DH and I have had the same conversation. Really odd design.

WhoGivesADamnForAFlakeyBandit · 12/11/2018 21:24

It's stupid.

notyourmummy · 12/11/2018 21:24

It looks like it's been bashed on one side, sets my teeth on edge every time I see it!!

Oldpossumsbook · 12/11/2018 21:25

YANBU. It’s so wrong!

Lazybonita · 12/11/2018 21:27

It is a shame, I love my old model discovery it is truly a great car but I can never get the new model, it’s just ugly.

wijjy · 12/11/2018 21:27

I really love the design. It's a nod to the old freelanders while looking modern.

The fact that it annoys some people makes me love them even more.

Arnoldthecat · 12/11/2018 21:29

The biggest abomination is that they still, after all these years, cannot manufacture a vehicle that is reliable.

wijjy · 12/11/2018 21:31

AARRRHHH

Nod to the old Discovery not freelander where the spare tyre half sat over the back window.

JumpersForGoalposts · 12/11/2018 21:33

I could live with the wonky back end but getting rid of the split tailgate is a dealbreaker.
It's a no from me....

Sirzy · 12/11/2018 21:33

Yanbu. It’s awful.

ihatethecold · 12/11/2018 21:34

Looks so wrong.

TheFifthKey · 12/11/2018 21:35

I was behind one for the first time the other day and it really disturbed me! It’s very ugly and totally wrong.

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 12/11/2018 21:35

Weirdly the photo you have posted doesn't offend my eyes at all Wijjy, I'm not sure why it looks so much worse without the spare tyre there

soulrider · 12/11/2018 21:35

The old one looks fine because it's so deliberately offset. The new one isn't offset enough to make it look like a choice, instead it just looks like someone wasn't paying attention and missed the centre

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 12/11/2018 21:37

Old ones good, new ones bad.
