Rewatching the trilogy out of pre-Xmas nostalgia.

I had totally forgotten how amazing he looked as Aragorn. I mean I kind of remembered but not the full glory.

Sort of a cross between Jaime Lannister in Game of Thrones and Daryl Dixon in the Walking Dead (before he got too grubby).

He may or may not be the reason I’ve watched all the films roughly a hundred times. I’m pretty sure that if I’d not met my husband that I’d have ended up as a full on fan girl for me. I just think he’s lovely- even without the stories of him buying some of the horses that he’s worked with. Don’t tell my husband 😂

Viggo is reasonably hot in Witness tbf IMHO. But not Aragorn hot.

@desperately I just came on this thread to say the exact same thing.

He was best as Strider in the first film, when he was grubby. He was much less attractive when he became king and was all cleaned up.

Yeah I find Aragorn and Legolas hot but not Viggo mortensen or Orlando bloom (the latter in particular I actually find actively unattractive when not dressed as an elf )

Here’s a story that’ll make you love Viggo Mortensen a bit more... after they finished filming LOTR the horses from the production were put up for sale, and he bought his as they’d formed such a bond.

Liv Tyler’s riding double really wanted the white stallion she’d ridden during filming, but she knew someone higher up in the production wanted him too and that meant she wouldn’t get him. So Viggo bid for the horse on her behalf and then gave it to her.

How lovely is that?!

I find him very hot in LOTR - he's the main reason I'm happy to re-watch the films every year with dp.

Yes to Orlando Bloom only being hot to me as an elf, see also Jason Isaacs as Lucius Malfoy. Don’t like them as anyone else.... must be the blond wigs!
