Rewatching the trilogy out of pre-Xmas nostalgia.

I had totally forgotten how amazing he looked as Aragorn. I mean I kind of remembered but not the full glory.

Sort of a cross between Jaime Lannister in Game of Thrones and Daryl Dixon in the Walking Dead (before he got too grubby).

I’ll just leave this here as an aide memoire.

May I also say that I do like a bit of Boromir... I was once on a 4/5th date in north London and spotted Sean Bean in the pub. I was too busy trying to sneakily admire him from a distance that I lost track of my date's stories at multiple points

Is LOTR on Netflix or prime? I feel a binge coming on.

No one needs to be reminded. Has any film character ever opened a door more sexily? Poor Eowyn — you can see exactly exactly what she falls for, and gets dull-but-decent Faramir as a consolation prize.

Though I quite fancy doomed, tormented Boromir, too.

I have never forgotten! I watched a little bit of The Two Towers the other day, it’s on Prime. I read LOTR as a teenager and had a massive crush on Aragorn (the character, the made up person ) and I’m afraid Viggo just made it worse. I love him in everything though. I’ve got it bad...

I actually quite fancy Haldir as well, mind you. I like a glossy, dressy deeply camp Elf who kicks ass at Helm’s Deep and dies gloriously with his hair still gorgeous.

Yes, Viggo was hot as fire until he got all cleaned up as King Aragorn for the final battle at the end.

Legolas was All That when I was at Uni. My Grandma got me posters of him for my 18th birthday, and also recorded the episodes of Graeme Norton and Midsomer Murders that Orlando Bloom was in so I could watch them. Bless her.

As a Kiwi, watching the films when they came out was mostly an exercise in working out where each bit was filmed and which Shortland Street actor was playing the bit characters like Haldir.
