To still be cross at Jeremy Corbin's anorak

It's 11 hours after the event, but at the cenotaph amongst all of the black coats stood Jeremy Corbin in a blue anorak with hood flapping, is this really the best he could do?

Really OP, you're still worked up about that?
Pathetic.

popcornwizard · 11/11/2018 22:45

why would autocorrect change Corbyn to Corbin?

I have a smartphone. It has the ability to learn spellings. Most do I think? Mine have been doing it for years. I know someone called Corbin, so my phone thinks I mean Corbin and changes it, that's what autocorrect does. I hope this clears up your confusion Grin

@GiantKitten it came up as a suggestion (spelled correctly) on mine when I typed Jeremy

Amaaboutthis · 11/11/2018 22:45

Sometimes you need the right clothes for the right occasion and it wouldn’t have killed one of his aides to put an online M&S order through to get him decently kitted out. It’s not like he couldn’t stretch to a coat

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/11/2018 22:45

This is what you care about?

tinstar · 11/11/2018 22:45

Popcorn - totally agree. He did indeed look like a petulant teenager. I can't believe the leader of the opposition doesn't own a smart black overcoat. If he doesn't it's time he bought one. It's a mark of respect to dress smartly when you have a high profile role on occasions like this.

He just looked ridiculous. (And yes, I'm a member of the Labour Party and do care about the important things too. But I'm allowed to be irritated by such poor judgement).

FantastikRik · 11/11/2018 22:46

Are you outraged by Tony Blair’s presence, or TM’s arms deals with Saudi Arabia?

Is respect demonstrates by the size of a poppy? Or the colour of a coat? Do the people who attended my local parade in casual coats have any less respect than those who wore more formal coats?

Of all the things that anger me about the state of our country, the colour of someone’s coat isn’t one of them.

BeautifulPossibilities · 11/11/2018 22:46

I was very surprised he didn't have a white poppy on... and really I couldn't give a shit what he was wearing. I would hope we are beyond judging people by looks/how much they've spent on a coat by now.

belfastbosoms · 11/11/2018 22:47

Because the fallen will give a flying fuck about someone wearing dark navy rather than black. Because RESPECT requires a very specific dress code? This thread is making my blood boil!

TheFormidableMrsC · 11/11/2018 22:48

Politics aside, I did notice the coat. I have to admit. I thought he could have made more of an effort, however, he was there...he did his bit. It doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. He had one of those zippy in hoods and he should have zipped it in. He did stand out. Mind you, I've been to funerals where close family members have turned up in jeans and a jumper so nothing surprises me. However, a bit of effort would have been nice..but it's not worth frothing over.

maxthemartian · 11/11/2018 22:48

A better way to show respect for the dead might be to actually learn something from it and stop further pointless slaughter, but apparently that's beyond us. Lets focus on coats instead.

Silentlyobserving · 11/11/2018 22:48

YANBU

GiantKitten · 11/11/2018 22:49

He also sang Oh God Our Help In Ages Past without looking at the words, unlike most of the smart-black-coat-presumably-church-going brigade.

Maybe he did wear the coat & the little poppy badge just to give the snarky little nitpickers something to nitpick about. Good for him in that case.

Maddy70 · 11/11/2018 22:49

It was raining? Surely it’s sensible? I too wore a coat did you?

RoboticMary · 11/11/2018 22:49

I think he looked awful. So disrespectful. I’d rather he’d stayed away rather than turn up looking so scruffy.

flossietoot · 11/11/2018 22:50

My grandfather served in the Second World War. I know without a doubt, that he would not have been in the least offended by Jeremy’s rain coat. He was wearing a suit underneath. It is utter nonsense and actually really demeaning to the thousands of people who wouldn’t have the resources to buy a smart coat to be going on like this. The mental health of veterans is a huge issue, as are the numbers who are homeless. These are what people should be getting upset about. Not what a socialist politician is wearing. It isn’t disrespectful- Jeremy just knows that in the grand scheme of things, what you wear over your suit says nothing about your character.

Troels · 11/11/2018 22:50

I was a bit surprised he turned up in an anorak too, he looked very scraggy, not even the hood was folded, it was all stuck out in the back. No effort made there, very disrespectul in my eyes, how hard would a proper overcoat have been.

Billben · 11/11/2018 22:51

As my ex forces DH said: “He looks like a shower of shit.”

DeadButDelicious · 11/11/2018 22:51

I cannot actually believe that people are genuinely offended by a coat. Seriously?

I despair.

Gilead · 11/11/2018 22:51

Fucking hell, he’s lined up there with Blair the master of illegal war, et al and you’re on about his garb. It’s pathetic.

purits · 11/11/2018 22:52

Because RESPECT requires a very specific dress code?
Everybody else got the memo. If he can't even work out Cenotaph = black then it doesn't say much for his thinking skills.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 11/11/2018 22:52

I cannot actually believe that people are genuinely offended by a coat. Seriously?

I doubt they are.

tinstar · 11/11/2018 22:52

Bizarre that those of us who are irritated by corbyn's coat are being accused of not caring about more important things. We are able to hold more than one thought in our minds at a time you know. Care about child poverty and be irritated by something which of course doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

NotACleverName · 11/11/2018 22:52

Oh for the love of fuck, get a grip, OP. A big one. To still be stewing on this after eleven hours is beyond pathetic.

Evilspiritgin · 11/11/2018 22:53

#belfastbosoms ffs don’t read the thread if it boils your blood hide it
