To still be cross at Jeremy Corbin's anorak

It's 11 hours after the event, but at the cenotaph amongst all of the black coats stood Jeremy Corbin in a blue anorak with hood flapping, is this really the best he could do?

Oh ffs, how can people get worked up about him wearing a dark coloured rain coat? The weather was due to be awful. He was there, he was respectful, he was wearing a fucking poppy. Glad to see everyone was having a period of quiet reflection when watching the service, rather than finding ridiculous reasons to moan about a decent man paying his respects Hmm

purits · 11/11/2018 22:25

Don’t see the issue. It isn’t meant to be a fashion parade.

Precisely. Everyone else wore black. He was the only one who decided to be different.

zenasfuck · 11/11/2018 22:25

How pathetic

He showed up, and showed respect

What a strange thing to care about when the country is in the state it is

NameChangeToAvoidBeingFound · 11/11/2018 22:26

Don't see an issue with it, he was there. Who cares what his coat looks like. All mine are patterned or coloured I'd of stood out like a sore thumb. It's to honour the fallen not a fashion parade.

popcornwizard · 11/11/2018 22:26

The 'thousands of squaddies in the army' have very strict dress codes, don't be so silly.

TeddyIsaHe · 11/11/2018 22:26

This is why this country is going down the shitter, because people get het up about a fucking anorak rather than things that ACTUALLY MATTER like poverty/homelessness/domestic violence rates/racism etc etc.

YAB so U I can’t even begin to start.

Almondio · 11/11/2018 22:27

If any politician wants to be taken seriously as the next PM or even as a credible opposition leader they need to look the part and dress and behave accordingly. JC may want to be seen as a 'man of the people' but his 'disillusioned geography teacher on the cusp of retirement' is frankly inappropriate, sad and a little ridiculous.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 11/11/2018 22:27

Well no he didnt look as smart as the row of war mongers stood behind him.

But he was there wearing a poppy even though some said he wasnt and he paid his respects.

BabySharkAteMyHamster · 11/11/2018 22:27

I dragged my sorry arse up to the cenotaph in my scruffy coat this morning. Hell, I didnt even brush my hair.

But I did pay my respects, as did he.

AW1992 · 11/11/2018 22:27

So Op are you also criticising young people who were on parades all over the country wearing similar waterproof coats?

Believeitornot · 11/11/2018 22:27

I’d rather people criticised politicians for their politics, not their attire.

Maybe he didn’t have a black coat! And didn’t want to buy one especially. What’s wrong with that.

ChipsNSauce · 11/11/2018 22:28

May had on a black coat and a big poppy yet her government are involved in arms trades.

Blair was in Black with a big poppy and he's a war criminal.

Anorak doesn't seem so bad compared to that....

mummmy2017 · 11/11/2018 22:28

This was important...
Every other person there on official duty representing their party, country bothered to look smart....
So why couldn't he... And you can't say he couldn't afford it...

zenasfuck · 11/11/2018 22:28

What is the issue with this ? He looks smart, it is dark , appropriate clothing

To still be cross at Jeremy Corbin's anorak
Sitwhereyoulike · 11/11/2018 22:28

He was an embarrassment to the Labour Party, that's what he was.

Even Tony Blair and Gordon Brown looked well dressed and turned out.

There isn't any excuse or justification for the shambolic ensemble that he put together for such an event. There really isn't.

BakedBeans47 · 11/11/2018 22:28

YANBU

Of course the most important thing is he was there, but then given his role that wasn’t really optional. I didn’t think the jacket looked too bad from the front but the inside out hood looked awful.

soupmaker · 11/11/2018 22:29

PMSL. Why do you actually care?

flossietoot · 11/11/2018 22:29

My point is- that the many army squaddies will be coming from working class back grounds, and families were they simply do not wear black wool overcoats!! They may wear a smart uniform in the army but Jeremy isn’t in the Forces. I very much any of his core electorate or the families of the average soldier will be remotely upset he isn’t in an expensive coat.

ginandnappies · 11/11/2018 22:30

Jesus, some people find anything to moan about. God forbid he wore a black coat, then what would you find?! The way his hair blew in the wind? Today isn't about fashion. It's about remembrance.

belfastbosoms · 11/11/2018 22:31

Look at the photo posted below, and explain wtf the issue is.

ilovesooty · 11/11/2018 22:31

Yabu
Especially with your inability to spell his name correctly.

Paleshelter · 11/11/2018 22:31

I said to DH when we were watching the parade on TV this morning, people are going to complain about about Jeremy Corbyn wearing a casual jacket! I thought he was being practical wearing a hood! Yes it did remind me of Michael Foot.

BakedBeans47 · 11/11/2018 22:32

So Op are you also criticising young people who were on parades all over the country wearing similar waterproof coats?

These people aren’t there in an official capacity as leader of HM Opposition and creaming off a nice fat salary at taxpayers’ expense.

And as for comparisons to Prince Philip 🙄 he’s a 97 year old man who’s spent plenty of Remembrance Sundays at the Cenotaph and has now stepped down from public life, hardly comparable.

popcornwizard · 11/11/2018 22:32

All of the 'young people' at the parade (that included my son so you can fuck right off with the 'sitting at home and critising' passive aggressive comments) were dressed correctly and respectfully - if they can manage it, so should a (potential) leader of the country. Time to grow up and into the job he's chosen.
