To still be cross at Jeremy Corbin's anorak

It's 11 hours after the event, but at the cenotaph amongst all of the black coats stood Jeremy Corbin in a blue anorak with hood flapping, is this really the best he could do?

YABU to not even spell his name correctly OP, especially if you are going to create a thread bashing him. I was concentrating more on the service, and thinking about the sacrifice so many have made for this country tbh to be putting lots of energy into something as petty as this.

PigletJohn · 11/11/2018 22:33

I agree it's definitely best to judge politicians on their choice of costume, and to vote for the ones who taste is the same as yours.

Well done @popcornwizard for reminding us of that important fact.

Firstbornunicorn · 11/11/2018 22:33

Some people clearly have very little to worry about, if they're still in a rage over Corbyn's coat.

Tony Blair was standing behind him: he dragged Britain into the Iraq war. Theresa May was beside him: she voted for it.

Maybe get upset about things like that, instead.

dapplegrey · 11/11/2018 22:33

did you not get annoyed that Prince Philip didnt attend?
Prince Philip is 97. I think it’s perfect.y reasonable that he didn’t attend.

CoughLaughFart · 11/11/2018 22:35

I was looking at him, thinking "surely it's a black coat that just looks navy in the sunlight" but nope. Poor show.

‘Surely it’s a black coat’ - as if you somehow couldn’t comprehend the idea that it might not have been black. Ridiculous.

moredoll · 11/11/2018 22:36

I just knew that someone would complain about his coat. How small-minded some people are.

Alternatively, how small-minded it is to attend a National Remembrance Day as Leader of the Opposition dressed in a way which you know is going to attract lots of flak. The guy can afford to nip into Marks to get a smart black coat if need be.
O jeremy corbyn.

flossietoot · 11/11/2018 22:36

It’s not like he rocked up in some gym gear. He was wearing a probably fairly expensive rain jacket over a smart outfit. If this is all you have to worry about there is something wrong with you.

DisappearingGirl · 11/11/2018 22:37

I just googled the image expecting him to look really scruffy from this thread. I thought he looked reasonably smart!

zenasfuck · 11/11/2018 22:37

Tony Blair and Theresa May looked very smart indeed

I mean let's gloss over the fact that they are war criminals and arms dealers

They got their coats right so that's me happy HmmHmmHmm

Joinourclub · 11/11/2018 22:37

What is disrespectful about a raincoat?

tootstastic · 11/11/2018 22:37

YABU, judge the guy on his politics, not what coat he's wearing...especially as, for him, he looked smarter than usual.

GiantKitten · 11/11/2018 22:38

The tabloids, plus MN anti-Corbyn frothers.

And OP couldn’t even be bothered to spell his name right.

Hmm
To still be cross at Jeremy Corbin's anorak
popcornwizard · 11/11/2018 22:38

So an autocorrect to Corbin is more detrimental to credibility than an anorak? Grin

OP posts:
Evilspiritgin · 11/11/2018 22:39

Only on mumsnet while saying Jeremy Corbyn could have dressed smarter in his role as leader of the opposition could you be described as scummy

SheSparkles · 11/11/2018 22:41

I’m absolutely no fan of Corby , but to be fair Princess Anne had very anorak looking garment on at the Festival of Remembrance last night

GiantKitten · 11/11/2018 22:41

why would autocorrect change Corbyn to Corbin? Confused

BlackForestCake · 11/11/2018 22:41

Tony Blair sent young people like your son to their deaths in Iraq, but hey, at least he had a smart coat on.

GiantKitten · 11/11/2018 22:42

Hands up anybody (apart from OP...) whose autocorrect does that when they type Corbyn

Joinourclub · 11/11/2018 22:42

Is it that it was a dark but not black raincoat that is the problem?

Navy = disgustingly disrespectful
Dark navy = disgustingly disrespectful
Very dark navy = disgustingly disrespectful
Almost black = disgustingly disrespectful
Black = very respectful

OliviaStabler · 11/11/2018 22:43

What did you expect? He looked exactly like I thought he would.

At least he wore a poppy and bowed his head.

flossietoot · 11/11/2018 22:43

The more I think about it, the more ridiculous it actually is.

Sowhatifidosnore · 11/11/2018 22:43

Saw him and thought, FFS buy a decent f-cking coat you knob. I’m neither a Tory nor a poppy wearer.

ilovesooty · 11/11/2018 22:43

Autocorrect? If you say so.

MotsDHeureGoussesRames · 11/11/2018 22:44

Nope, sorry. It IS a bloody issue. It's about a bit of RESPECT. The leader of the opposition, a potential PM and some people are saying it's just good that he was there?! Of COURSE he should be there. That goes without even saying. The smart black coat is about showing respect for the fallen. It does matter.
