To still be cross at Jeremy Corbin's anorak

popcornwizard · 11/11/2018 22:10

It's 11 hours after the event, but at the cenotaph amongst all of the black coats stood Jeremy Corbin in a blue anorak with hood flapping, is this really the best he could do?

You’d have to be immensely naive not to realise that his choice of clothing was a political judgment, however misplaced.

TeddyIsaHe · 12/11/2018 20:20

Everyone on this thread is utterly batshit. How has this gone on for 2 days? ITS A COAT. Fucking hell 😂😂😂

PunkrockerGirl59 · 12/11/2018 20:42

It is indeed Teddy But to the OP it's a HUGELY IMPORTANT COAT Grin

Bless the op, she thought the fact that she'd spelt Corbyn's name wrong was ok because she'd posted from the safety of her sofa, as opposed to Corbyn wearing a coat apparently offended millions on primetime tv.

A little tip, op - when you chose to post on a forum such as mn, you may be sat on your sofa but you're posting on a forum which has a target audience of millions. So not bothering to check the spelling of the name of the public figure you're slagging off makes you look like a bit of a dick, tbh.

GiantKitten · 12/11/2018 20:42

Agreed, Teddy

In fact it’s so batshit I’m going to hide it for my own sanity 🙄

luckylavender · 12/11/2018 20:46

Blair: Afghanistan/Iraq, 635 UK military, 210,000 civilians dead.

Cameron: Libya/Syria, 1,500 civilians killed, £40 Billion of arms sold.

May: Yemen, 5,200 civilians killed, £3.5 Billion of arms to Saudi Arabia.

Corbyn: Wears a coat with a hood and a Poppy that was too small.

Limensoda · 12/11/2018 20:47

Limensoda wearing casual clothes to a formal act of Remembrance when you're one of the principal wreath-layers IS an indicator of character

It's absolutely not.

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 12/11/2018 20:52

Absolutely fucking typical given everything else going on in this country right now that some fuckwits take offence at Jeremy Corbyn's fucking coat. You need to take a serious look at yourselves.

AnnaFiveTowns · 12/11/2018 20:54

Spot on, Ellebelly

DappledThings · 12/11/2018 20:56

Spot on, Ellebelly

Seconded!

TeddyIsaHe · 12/11/2018 20:56

Thirded!

RhiWrites · 12/11/2018 20:59

It was a coat like hundreds of thousands of people wear. It’s sheer elitist wankery to say a wool coat is the only acceptable attire.

Jeremy Corbyn is a man of the people. When you sneer at his jumpers like Cameron or his coat like OP you’re showing your own shoddy values.

TheNavigator · 12/11/2018 21:02

Michael Foot did not wear a donkey jacket FFS, I can't believe people still spout that nonsense that was demonstrably proved to be nasty right wing lies. It was a short, warm, sensible jacket for an elderly chap standing outside - the right wing press just hated him and used fake news to discredit him. I was a teenager at the time, so I knew my clothes - I fucking owned a donkey jacket so I remember shouting at the time - that is not a donkey jacket!!!!

Anyway, at least Corbyn has never voted to take us into a war, so he had more right to be there than most of the politicians - it is not remembering for its own sake, we are meant to learn the lessons of the past. Have you learned nothing, OP? Criticising a man of peace for his clothes, just like in the 80s. Hang your head in shame, you are a disgrace to the poor fallen, conscripted by lies to die in an imperialist war that was of no benefit to them or their families. Hand your head in shame, you are not fit to wear a poppy. 'These men are worth your tears, you are not worth their merriment'.

Limensoda · 12/11/2018 21:03

@Thymeout

I gather you think all those in the very smart coats were of 'good character' ? Grin
It must be very easy for people to con you.

popcornwizard · 12/11/2018 21:09

I've got to admit TeddyIsaHe that I'm surprised that it's still going almost 24 hours later - will check back tomorrow night to see if it runs for two days. I'm also quite surprised at how a single letter autocorrect mistake seems to outrage a minority even more than the anorak.

NotACleverName · 12/11/2018 21:10

How are you holding up today, OP? Gotten over the apoplexy yet?

popcornwizard · 12/11/2018 21:29

Thanks for the concern. Do you mean extreme anger or illness? I have no anger, I am merely cross that the anorak shows him in bad light once again - like it or not, he is 'establishment' and fighting it does you no favours. Still floating by on a cloud of morphine for the illness 😉.

Sitwhereyoulike · 12/11/2018 22:34

He was there yesterday as leader of the opposition and not as Jeremy Corbyn.

He managed to dress appropriately in 2017 for Remembrance Day but chose yesterday to make a statement.

He is a dangerous communist and had a duty yesterday to dress appropriately by way of showing respect to all those that have lost their lives. He failed in that duty.

Shame on him.

Here is Theresa May marking Armistice day on HMS Bulwark.

I'm sure this will somehow be different and excusable.

Spot on ellebelly
Nothing like the middle classes for completely missing the point.

SillySallySingsSongs · 12/11/2018 23:54

Jeremy Corbyn is a man of the people.

Yeah right Hmm

KissingInTheRain · 13/11/2018 00:02

Corbyn is an unpleasant fool.

His contrived ‘man of the people’ refusal to wear suits or do his tie up (not true of Sunday BTW) is the least of the concerns about him and his fellow travellers.

Still, he’ll keep Labour out of power for at least twenty years and possibly destroy the organised Left in the UK for good. So it’s not all bad.

JimmyGrimble · 13/11/2018 00:08

Ha ha ha in your dreams love. The tories are fookin terrified. Why else do we have 20 fucking pages about a perfectly serviceable coat? Pathetic. Petty. Shallow. And shitting it.

KissingInTheRain · 13/11/2018 00:17

Sure. He’s a nailed on winner that bloke.

ginghambox · 13/11/2018 00:21

Perfectly reasonable coat given the predicted weather.
