To still be cross at Jeremy Corbin's anorak

It's 11 hours after the event, but at the cenotaph amongst all of the black coats stood Jeremy Corbin in a blue anorak with hood flapping, is this really the best he could do?

Utterly ridiculous that anyone has an issue with Corbyn wearing a dark blue raincoat over a dark suit,,, also very odd that anyone would focus on what he was wearing when it should be what he stands for that is the important point. And absolutely what he consistently stands against... war and the unnecessary loss of life, both military and civilian.

I think he looked fine... his attire was plain and respectful and he also looked approachable. Not like Cameron and Blair in their no doubt thousands of pounds worth of bespoke suit Hmm

Maldives2006 · 12/11/2018 12:09

If that is what you’re concerned about you need to read some history books

Limensoda · 12/11/2018 12:12

Dad was a WWII veteran

@billionaire
My dad was also a WW11 veteran, as were 6 of my uncle's. My great granddad was killed at the Somme in WW1
Corbyn didn't wear that coat to annoy you. He didn't make it about his coat, people like you did.
No, he decent like sending people to war. He doesn't see people as Canon fodder. It's bloody ridiculous to admire war mongers and despise peace lovers.
Showing respect isn't about your clothes.

Limensoda · 12/11/2018 12:15

That should have said @bellinsurge
And doesn't....not decent.... 😒

derxa · 12/11/2018 12:19

I genuinely think Michael Foot neither realised nor much cared (I was around then). Corbyn knew full well , as Trump does, that we end up talking about the stupid attention grabbing thing he has done rather than what we need to talk about. I'm the same. Dear old Michael Foot. A kind decent man and deeply intellectual to boot.

OldSpeclkledHen · 12/11/2018 12:25

Ha!! @popcornwizard thought it was just me 🙄🙄 And the fact his poppy was almost invisible. Twat.

longwayoff · 12/11/2018 12:26

Yes. Ok to say that about M F now. People will say similar about JC in 20 years. But at the time the media would have had us believe he despised both the armed forces and this country. Same for Corbyn today. Bunkum.

bellinisurge · 12/11/2018 12:26

@Limensoda - JC makes himself less relevant with every appearance.
It wasn't hard. Stick on a fake Crombie from Asda. Don't get noticed. It's all about everyone else not you.
Nope, he couldn't manage it.
It's not his worst mistake, wearing an attention seeking coat and aping a greater man. But it was an avoidable mistake.

Hubbleisback · 12/11/2018 12:28

Everything about this thread is so sad. The way in which people are addressing each other and their hatred of people with different views is a microcosm of why we end up going to war. There is SO much more to worry about!!

bastardkitty · 12/11/2018 12:28

It seems like all the emphasis is on trivial matters to be honest but people who talk about the right coat don't get upset by universal credit or record numbers of homeless people.

PhilomenaButterfly · 12/11/2018 12:29

Seriously? Get the fuck over it. Hmm

havingabadhairday · 12/11/2018 12:44

I have some sympathy for him - I suspect he's like me and can never look as polished and neatly groomed as some people. However hard I try I always end up looking slightly scruffy.

His coat was fine, there was nothing disrespectful about it. I don't think it was attention seeking either. It's a dark coloured coat fgs. Complainers might have a point if he'd turned up in a brightly coloured one...

ThunderInMyHeart · 12/11/2018 12:49

YANBU, OP.

If you had a wedding and people turned up in an anorak equivalent of, say, dog-walking jeans, would you still say ‘oh leave them alone! They showed up! That’s what matters’? Like hell you would. Mumsnet would implode.

YouTheCat · 12/11/2018 12:49

Easy to tell if he donated check his expenses

I don't think that would tell you anything as he wouldn't have claimed on his expenses.

PhilomenaButterfly · 12/11/2018 12:51

It wasn't raining in London this morning. Where in London? It certainly was in my bit, DH had to run in from gardening. And yes, I realise Davros posted that yesterday.

Vinorosso74 · 12/11/2018 12:53

I live close to JC and it was peeing it down first thing!

purits · 12/11/2018 12:59

It seems like all the emphasis is on trivial matters
That's the point! If he can't even get himself dressed do the trivial stuff then who is going to have confidence in him to do the major stuff.

Limensoda · 12/11/2018 12:59

You really can't get your head around the fact that there are people who have more going on in their head than what they look like or what clothes they wear.
I'm glad the man has the sort of mind that is more focused on the bigger things to worry about than whether his coat will meet your standards.
Don't bother really finding out about the man other than what the right wing media tell you and what he's wearing. A fucking psychopath would impress you so long as he looked smart

PhilomenaButterfly · 12/11/2018 13:09

Yeah, I'd be one of those people. I'd think, well, I'll be outside, the forecast's dodgy, I'll wear my anorak.

SillySallySingsSongs · 12/11/2018 13:09

Don't bother really finding out about the man other than what the right wing media tell you and what he's wearing.

Fully aware of what he is like. The thought of him being PM is frightening.

Bloomburger · 12/11/2018 13:09

I think it shows fuck all respect for the people he was supposed to be honouring.

Those people who, showing up hair combed, suit and medals on and shoes shined, means respect.

eddiemairswife · 12/11/2018 13:15

If he had worn sackcloth and ashes and walked on his knees to the Cenotaph people would still have moaned about disrespect.

Catsandbootsandbootsandcats · 12/11/2018 13:22

I watched it yesterday on my tv and didn't even notice. Then someone posted a photo without saying what was wrong and I couldn't pick anything out.

Like another poster I look scruffy no matter how smartly I dress so maybe he's the same? And I was also wearing a navy hooded coat yesterday. I'm not Jeremy Corbyn (which just autocorrected to Corbin!) so I doubt anyone noticed or cared about my crappy coat.

I think it's ridiculous how he can't do anything right. People are just searching for the tiniest thing to pull him apart about.

And I'm not a huge JC fan.

derxa · 12/11/2018 13:23

Yeah, I'd be one of those people. I'd think, well, I'll be outside, the forecast's dodgy, I'll wear my anorak. Did you see all those fantastically smart ambassadors there. All wearing smart black outfits. If it rains you stand there and get wet.

Paddington68 · 12/11/2018 13:25

If we judge people by what they wear, have we actually learned anything from what happened?
