Is black a no-no for weddings? I’m really not sure whether to wear this dress or not? It’s not and long sleeved but is it too black??

To wear this dress to a wedding?

Is the wedding soon? Winter’s different. Also, can you break up the black with coloured accessories etc?

I’d say it’s fine. But personally I might not be wholly comfortable, in case I turned up and everyone else was in bright colours. Been in a similar back and forth about a dress for a wedding recently.

ScreamingValenta · 11/11/2018 11:10

Black is traditionally considered a no-no for weddings as it's a colour of mourning, not celebration. It depends how traditional the bride and groom/other guests are as to whether it would raise any eyebrows.

InstagramPork · 11/11/2018 11:13

I go to at least 5/6 weddings a year. Black is fine in winter and I would personally and a pop of colour in the accessories and lipstick.
Lovely dress btw

CuppaSarah · 11/11/2018 11:13

If you came to my wedding in that I'd be asking where you got it and buying it for myself on honeymoon.

OnlyTheDepthVaries · 11/11/2018 11:13

I'd wear it. I love black. I got married in a black suit with a huge black hat!

IchWill · 11/11/2018 11:14

Check with Bride. I have worn black to two weddings, where the bride had no problem with it, I wore hot pink heels, bag and fascinator.

I also had a friend wear similar to my wedding.

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 11/11/2018 11:16

I love that OP! I would wear it with electric blue accessories it hot pink!

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 11/11/2018 11:16

Or** not it.

But yeah, maybe check with the bride but I think it will be fine

SnuggyBuggy · 11/11/2018 11:17

It's fine for winter

Soscaredaboutitall · 11/11/2018 11:17

It’s end of November, I was thinking to wear non-black shoes to brighten it up. Good idea about checking in with the bride.

Fine for a winter wedding I reckon.

RetiredNotExpired · 11/11/2018 11:19

I'd wear it. Well, I would if I was younger & slimmer :)
I got married (second time, registry office) in black!

stonefree · 11/11/2018 11:19

This is gorgeous! Where’s it from?

Namechangechangename123 · 11/11/2018 11:19

Where is it from? I love it!
Add a pop of colour and it’ll be fine for a November wedding.

JacquesHammer · 11/11/2018 11:20

Absolutely lovely.

But then I always wear black to weddings.

CandyCreeper · 11/11/2018 11:20

i personally wouldnt care what you wore as long as it wasnt white

divadee · 11/11/2018 11:22

I am looking at a black wedding dress for my wedding Grin so I wouldn't care whatever you want to wear. Even white!!!! I think the old tradition of black for funerals and brights and pastels for weddings is passing now.

GraceMarks · 11/11/2018 11:25

It's fine, it's patterned and it's not remotely funereal! Put some bright accessories with it if you feel like it, but I wouldn't say it was necessary.

CoughLaughFart · 11/11/2018 11:28

I like the dress but wouldn’t wear it to a wedding personally.

happypoobum · 11/11/2018 11:31

No way would I wear black to a wedding.

Evilcountspatula · 11/11/2018 11:33

Gorgeous dress I think it's fine.

Deliphant · 11/11/2018 11:35

I would say black is a big no - but hey, I've not been to a wedding in years.

Northernlass99 · 11/11/2018 11:35

It’s fine for a winter wedding but add bright accessories and lipstick.

rubyslippers83 · 11/11/2018 11:35

Lovely dress OP, where’s it from?

Orchiddingme · 11/11/2018 11:38

Stunning dress, check with bride but I've seem lots of people in dark/black colours at weddings, mostly with brighter things as well, but sometimes just black.
