Is black a no-no for weddings? I’m really not sure whether to wear this dress or not? It’s not and long sleeved but is it too black??

Gorgeous dress. Go for it. Lots of people wear black for weddings now. The dress is stylish and classy. As others have said, bright accessories and lipstick.

Blueink · 12/11/2018 19:48

I wouldn’t wear it to a wedding unless it was specified black tie or for an evening reception. Other dark colours like navy, wine or emerald would be ok.

Maisymoo22 · 12/11/2018 19:56

Aw my giddy aunt that dress is awesome I love it.
Wear with a coral or salmon pink jacket or even orange!!!

Aragog · 12/11/2018 19:57

Men wear back to weddings all the time.

I on't think people are that bothered, on the whole, about people wearing black as a wedding guest.
TBH lots don't even care about white and cream, so long as its not a full on wedding dress style gown!

Kizzyma · 12/11/2018 20:04

I love it . Please share where it is from

nozzel · 12/11/2018 20:13

Yes, wear it. What a lovely dress OP.

vincettenoir · 12/11/2018 21:00

Yeah it’s fine for a winter wedding. Lovely dress! Wear big statement colours to accessorise. I reckon it would go well with bright orange or red.

Bejazzled · 12/11/2018 21:01

Op said upthread its from ASOS

I had a wee look already but don't see it 😕

boredretiree · 12/11/2018 21:02

Its a lovely dress. wear it if you want to!

Sissyjd · 12/11/2018 21:14

No you ANBU It's gorgeous! Want one myself now. 😊

StoneofDestiny · 12/11/2018 21:18

It's polka dot close up isn't it?
I'd wear it

Jux · 12/11/2018 21:21

Nothing wrong with black for a wedding, even if you're the bride.

stellarfox · 12/11/2018 21:28

Probably ok if you are evening only but I'd definitely wear a jacket which is a different colour

Pompomaker · 12/11/2018 21:51

It's a no no because it's considered a bad omen. Depends if your bride is superstitious

purplevamp · 12/11/2018 21:57

I think it's perfectly ok to wear black to a wedding. I wear black to weddings, but then I wear black every day Grin. The only time I haven't worn black is at my own wedding!

VenusClapTrap · 12/11/2018 22:07

I would never wear black to a wedding.

The last wedding invitation I received requested no black outfits as it is very bad form in that country (Ireland). Many of the guests were travelling there from other countries, so the bride wanted to make sure everyone knew.

happymum12345 · 12/11/2018 22:13

It’s lovely-great for a winter wedding.

Catsinthecupboard · 12/11/2018 22:15

It is very pretty. I wore a dress that was not great for/to a wedding but I wore a nice jacket that was perfect and removed it for the reception where it was fine.

Atthebottomofthegarden · 12/11/2018 22:21

It’s fine.

Unless you used to go out with the groom. 🤣

flipflop67 · 12/11/2018 22:25

I'm from Ireland and I've worn black dresses to loads of weddingsConfused

boredretiree · 12/11/2018 22:36

I'm in Northern Ireland. never ard of that. I wore a short black jacket at my own (second) wedding two years ago.

Stars1979 · 12/11/2018 22:37

Absolutely gorgeous dress, wear it. I’d be complementing your dress if it were my wedding!

VenusClapTrap · 12/11/2018 22:39

Oh well there you go. The bride I referred to cared deeply about it and said it was an Irish thing. 🤷‍♀️

Clarabell100 · 12/11/2018 22:43

It’s lovely, wear it! I quite fancy it to wear at Christmas, can you like to it op?

TheNoodlesIncident · 12/11/2018 22:47

Please provide a link OP There are MILLIONS of dresses on that site...

It's too "party" for a funeral, winter wedding would be fine. A teenage guest wore jeans to my wedding, I did not care in the slightest.
