What can we do? It defies everything that a woman can have a penis. I don't mean hermaphrodites as discussed earlier
'Hermaphrodite' is an outdated, offensive and often misleading term. As explained earlier in the thread, 'intersex' is the preferred, umbrella term for those born with sex characteristics that deviate from typical male/female (including those born with XX chromosomes and a penis).

This isn't to be conflated with trans issues, but it's worth remembering that intersex people exist, with a variety of different characteristics, and using appropriate language to describe them.

Shriek · 10/11/2018 20:32

Oh Sad Sophia reflects my view too @spannablue
Do you take responsibility for what insult you have causd with your words here?

OP posts:
Fairenuff · 10/11/2018 20:36

Why mention the spuerflous detail that they were stamping on someone's head?

Pretty fucking important detail.

Shriek · 10/11/2018 20:38

I learnt that term during scientific study of the sexual scale. Scientifically, this is the way any biological anatomically defined sex is described at one end of the spectrum.
I am sorry to cause offence. I really didn't mean to. Are you able to explain why its offensive?

JAPAB · 10/11/2018 20:39

JacquesHammer See the word HE and HIS.

Yes but isn't there the thing about the male embracing the female and in law you should interpret any "he's" as meaning anyone?

Well, we can quibble can't we about what is written but the law does say that women can have penises and just because someone is a woman in law, that is not going to shield them from a rape charge just because it says "he". Because in law women can rape.

Shriek So now you are separating your ideology from the law when this was the entire basis of your argument moment ago.

Sooy but do not know what you are talking about. I have only really being disagreeing with what I believe was implied by the OP.

The seperate dicsussion about whether the law says women can rape is a seperate matter. One is about the law, one is about the meaning of someone else's words, and neither are about my own ideology on the trans matter in general.

FuriousOfSurrey · 10/11/2018 20:40

JAPAB said "Anyway, I know people with XXx don't have penises" . So women don't have penises then and he knows it but is avoiding saying what he knows to be the Truth. And avoiding treating us to the pyrotechnics in his Jockeys.

JacquesHammer · 10/11/2018 20:43

Because in law women can rape

No. They literally can’t. Do you need simpler words?

FuriousOfSurrey · 10/11/2018 20:43

Evasive and economical with the Truth are other ways of saying liar JAPAB.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 10/11/2018 20:44

Can i have the link re the law STATING women can have a penis...please and thank you

Grrrrrrt · 10/11/2018 20:49

@Shriek

From wiki:

"Intersex people were previously referred to as hermaphrodites, "congenital eunuchs",[5][6] or congenitally "frigid".[7] Such terms have fallen out of favor; in particular, the term "hermaphrodite" is considered to be misleading, stigmatizing, and scientifically specious."

Iirc, 'hermaphrodites' were mythological creatures with male and female genitalia. The term was adopted in medical literature as an umbrella term for various distinct conditions. It's fallen out of favour in part because it's still associated with a person having both sets of genitals. A lot of intersex people consider it offensive (although some has tried to reclaim it). It's certainly outdated.

I'll leave it at that as I don't want to derail or end up conflating intersex and trans with a simulataneous discussion; just wanted to flag the language use in particular.

Shriek · 10/11/2018 20:49

@JAPAB I have since cleared that up for you though. You are being antagonistic now.
Perhaps you could link to that piece of law about a female penis. It would enrich our discussion substantially

Bowlofbabelfish · 10/11/2018 21:04

Because in law women can rape.

In English law, the act of rape requires a penis.

A woman can be convicted if she holds down a victim for example, but she has not raped. Because she doesn’t have a penis.

All the ‘adult human female’ billboards etc are fighting to retain and define the words women and female - because if woman means ‘anyone who fancies being a lady’ then we are living in a world where language has lost any meaning, and where women have no rights or protection. If you can’t define something you can’t legislate to protect it.

So saying women can rape and women have penises and women are whatever a man feels they are - it isn’t trivial. It’s the start point for the end of women’s rights.

Doesn’t that worry you?

Shriek · 10/11/2018 21:09

I am happy to apply the term transwoman to a sexually transitioning male to female, someone who does not make genitalia as theirs and feel aliem and wants them removing transforming into feminie type equipment.
But I don't know how to refer to men who falsely align themselves to those going through all that trauma, and yet remain in every way, male, men, they are NOT transwomen.
Its a serious insult to women, and transwomen, dangerous and irresponsible.

OP posts:
Aeroflotgirl · 10/11/2018 21:11

I agree Bowlofbablefish it is a very slippery slope to go down.

Shriek · 10/11/2018 21:31

This isn't going to actually happen is it. Scratch that...it already is
The world is mad, penis is female to many already, including those in powerful institions, stats are being skewed in favour of...

OP posts:
Secretsquirrel252 · 10/11/2018 21:46

Women are discriminated against because of their biology not their thoughts or gender identity.

We all accepted a long time ago that not wearing skirts or not wearing makeup or having short hair or not shaving our legs doesn’t make us less of a woman. Those are surface things. So why does doing all the surface things make someone more of a woman?

Shriek · 10/11/2018 21:54

The thing is, from what I've seen there is nothing visibly feminised about these non male ppl with penises.
They just 'say' they're women; am I desperately don't want that to be a thing.
But the female penis seems to already exist as far as police reporting and NHS, and women-only spaces are concerned.
They are accepting non male ppl with penises.
Hence the female penis

A POLITE HEADS UP THAT THIS IS A LONG FUCKING POST (& lots of names so probably lots of asterisks hanging around the joint). BUT IT'S AS IMPORTANT - TO ME ANYWAY - AS IT IS LONG SO PLEASE STICK WITH IT Flowers

'Boring rehash of transphobia'... 'boring, boring, boring'

Shriek Sat 10-Nov-18 20:32:56
'Oh Sad Sophia reflects my view too @spannablue Do you take responsibility for what insult you have caused with your words here?'

@Shriek raises a good point @spannablue - do you take responsibility? Or are you just a keyboard warrior, happy to push your insane agenda - that so literally does not remotely square with reality - and giving not one shiny shit about the real people you hurt on the way?

The people whose experiences you would dismiss; the lived realities you would claim are non-existent? The - beyond de facto valid - fears that stem from those lived realities? That you would sweep away with a casual 'boring, boring, boring'? Truly, where are you right now? A real woman with real experience and real trans friends and real concerns has called your dismissal out and your response is what exactly? As unless this cross posts with that response, it's been zero.

Nothing, nada. Yet you would cause such harm with your offensive casualness?

No. You don't get to do both.

Either dismiss me then address me in response to my responding to you, or respect me and my (and so, so, many other women's too) lived reality and don't post such trite, dismissive, bollocks in the first place. But not both - not posting such casual dismissive and rude shite and then just running to silencio. Or if you do then please recognise precisely what that comments about your asserted position? Yeah, quite... Angry

Prawnofthepatriarchy Sat 10-Nov-18 21:00:55

'What a powerful, eloquent post, SophiaLovesSummer. Thanks.'

Thank you @Prawnofthepatriarchy, I do really appreciate that. I don't appreciate the fact I've outed myself so hugely and am gonna have to name change (as I don't want to be defined by the sexual assaults I've endured as there is way, way, more to me than that) but I'm not sorry I called @spannablue out.

As if we do not call this bullshit out, there will be even more 'me's' in the future: If we gift auto access to women's safe spaces to men who simply have to breathe the words 'I ID as a woman' then I guarantee you that there will be more of 'me.'

As, hands down, I do not know a single woman who has not (at best FFS) been sexually harassed and (at worst) assualted or raped and I'm not even talking about the girls/women who were as vulnerable as I was as a child and young woman. And if that is the level of assault we face with safe spaces in place, then God (who I also don't even believe him so it kinda says something that I'm invoking him/her right now) help all of womankind once access is a free for all Angry

For the reason above, I'm name changing after this thread but I urge you all to please keep fighting - to call out this Emperor's New Clothes madness that engulfs us right now; to call out the @spannablues and @JAPEBs of this world who would so casually remove our rights and do us such harm and who are so patently not remotely fucking affected by what they are prepared to indeed foist upon us actual women.

And for absolute clarity, I'm not name changing as I'm ashamed - as the shame of my various assaults lies with the people who allowed me to be so vulnerable; then with the c*nts with dicks who abused that access via vulnerability; and in turn abused me.

I'm name changing for the very opposite reason; I refuse to be defined by them (predators or assaults). I refuse to let @spannablue getting a rise out of me make me be 'recognised' as the girl with the multiple sexual assaults, to stop me just talking about Christmas or Strictly or whatever shit I want to talk about without people 'recognising' me as that girl and then young woman who was so abused. I just want to make that point really fucking clearly before I sign off from SophiaLovesSummer Flowers

More power to each of you and please, don't ever stop fighting this insanity and this (additional) slew of assaults just waiting to happen Flowers

A woman doesn't have a penis. Terminology has been corrupted to allow penis owners to appropriate the state of being female.

It's like some cheap magic trick. Smoke and mirrors. All in the wording. I'd like the right to request safe places for those people with vaginas.

Playing the transphobic card is the action of totalitarianism, the language of oppression.

Stange how few self-declared female penis owners can be found on labour wards delivering non-gendered human life forms...

And don't these new female warriors want equality for all? Why aren't they campaigning for prostate checks and regular testicular cancer checks on male labia?

It's insane to even have to debate this shit.
