There are x3 of us (teenage dd) . I’m not sure exactly how much we are spending as me and dh do bits and bobs separately.

For food shopping together with things like cleaning products etc you would buy in your normal shop, how much are you spending?

2 adults and 2 six year olds. I spend £100 a week on groceries and milk deliveries. That includes top ups of milk and bread. No alcohol (we don't drink) and no pets.

MrsStrowman · 05/11/2018 14:03

Two of us at the moment (and a cat) anywhere between £85-£120 a week, so probably around £400 a month plus the odd trip to Costco every couple of months (£150 ish). We don't eat processed foods and I am aware this is a luxury. That does include basic toiletries, but not naice bits from lush etc

BestWifey · 05/11/2018 14:07

£200 per week for my husband, myself and our son. I do a lot of fresh produce shopping, usually organic. We keep our own chickens so knock off the price of Burford Brown eggs, we get a fresh daily supply.

BitOutOfPractice · 05/11/2018 14:08

Four of us (2 teenage DDs) and I spend about £90 a week and think we eat really well.

DP has lunch at work but often takes stuff in with him. DDs buy lunch at school. That's about £25 a week but not 52 weeks a year obv

HollySwift · 05/11/2018 14:08

Family of 5, 6 every other weekend. We spend around £80 a week on average. I could get that lower but I don’t want to Grin

gamerchick · 05/11/2018 14:09

About 250 quid a month all in. Maybe an extra 50 - 100 if it's a significant month like Christmas. 3 adults, 1 child and 2 pets.

WendyCope · 05/11/2018 14:09

About 80 euro a week for everything. Only me and DD (10) but DH is often around for weekend meals too. Everything cooked from scratch and no takeaways available here, or ready meals etc.

This includes both fresh fish and meat at least once a week. Plus lots of wine!!

Notatallobvious · 05/11/2018 14:10

About £70 a week if it's just us two here, spend more if either or both of the adult Dc are here for the weekend. I cook everything from scratch and that figure doesn't include any alcohol (which DH buys on his own special booze shopping trips)

PinkHeart5914 · 05/11/2018 14:14

About £200 a week, that includes all food, alcohol, cleaning stuff, nappies for 3 dc and toiletries.

Mummaluelae · 05/11/2018 14:17

We are family of 4, we buy a mixture of fresh, frozen, tinned and ready type meals (eg. Burgers or chicken in breadcrumbs). We don't drink alcohol at all either.
A month we prob spend about £100 but top up of bread, milk and few snacks every week so an extra £10 per week at the most.
An we treat ourselves to a takeaway once a month sometime its a cheap £15 but sometimes can cost nearly £40, depends what we buy

Heismyopendoor · 05/11/2018 14:51

Family of 5, 3 kids 10 and under, although ten year old is a serious athlete already (kill me now lol) and eats more than me 😂 we spend £70 a week at Lidl. We don’t buy any ready meals or jars. Everything made from scratch

JourneyToThePlacentaOfTheEarth · 05/11/2018 15:02

Family of 5, 2 adults, 2 teenagers, 1 dc8.
£100pw. Shopping at Lidl or Aldi and Iceland. Cooking from scratch and including packed lunches but we don't really buy any booze

jacksonmaine · 05/11/2018 15:04

£200 - £220 fsmily of 5 older DC and 2 dogs.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 05/11/2018 15:06

2 adults and a toddler= £90 a week @ sainsburys. TBH I know i could get it lower if I made the effort to drive a little further to aldi.

lovetherisingsun · 05/11/2018 15:08

2 adults 3 young kids, about £120 per week. DH and I don't often drink though, and never have nights out/restaurant meals etc, so food is our treat to ourselves.

Roomba · 05/11/2018 15:12

About £40 per week - for me, and teenage DS1 and 6yo DS2. I don't buy meat often as its expensive and I cook a lot of Jack Monroe/similar budget recipes.i buy cheap washing powder and toiletries from Aldi too.

EthelHallowsBroomstick · 05/11/2018 15:12

£50-80 a week for a family of 4. Big shop at Aldi of around £40-60 (higher on weeks we need things like laundry powder) then one or a couple of £10/£20 shops at Asda/Tesco during the week. Eat a lot of vegetarian meals and aren't big drinkers.

Dirtygirtyisthirty · 05/11/2018 15:13

£500-600 per month for a family of 2 adults 2 children-that includes all household products and toiletries too including nappies and wipes etc

Shop at Sainsbury's and like a pp said it could be less if we shopped somewhere else; i do tend to stick with branded laundry powder etc too which can bump things up!

Monipop84 · 05/11/2018 15:14

2 of us - about 100 a week with Ocado.

sicktodeathh · 05/11/2018 15:15

£60 for me and two DD aged 4 and 5 months.

Kalimotxo · 05/11/2018 15:23

About £100 per week (£400 per month) for two adults and a 10-year-old who eats exactly the same amount we do, plus a cat. Mostly fish and veg; includes lunch for DH who works from home; and includes household items like dishwasher tabs, laundry detergent, toilet paper, soap.

This excludes school lunches and snacks for our child as they're part of school fees. It also excludes my lunches at the office (on occasion I bring leftovers from home) and any form of eating out (whether sitting in restaurants, doing takeaways or buying from food stalls to eat as we go). My office lunch and family eating out add up to about £300 per month.

redross · 05/11/2018 15:27

2 adults, 3 kids (0-4) 40-50 a week

wink1970 · 05/11/2018 16:41

2 adults = £200 per week, but that does include about 40% on wine. We like to share a bottle at least most nights & for quaffing I limit it to £10 a bottle.

We eat fresh every night, I don't meal plan. It doesn't include the odd M&S 'raid' where I stock up on chicken etc.

Justanotheruser01 · 05/11/2018 16:48

I would love to see a meal plan of people who spend all that week I bet your meals are amazing. Not sure for me dh dog tbh were currently having a silly cheap month ready for our holiday for extra spends:-)

TombIhadaGraveChange · 05/11/2018 16:58

Probably about £80. That's for 2 adults, 1 cat and 7 veggie-eating animals.

(I once tried to calculate how much I spend on the animals a month and gave up. Between the cat, rodents, rabbits and birds, both pet and wild, and fish, and now the local hedgehog, I swear we spend more money on them than we do on ourselves.)
