Takes you back to a moment?

Mine is Barcelona by Freddie Mercury and Monsterrat Caballe

I was 6 when the Barcelona Olympics were on and I remember being stunned at how powerful this song was even at age 6. It made me stand and watch. When I hear it I still get goosebumps and can remember the moment I heard it.

Slow Motion Suicide - Ferocious Dog- espicially the instrumental at the end sends shivers down my spine.

Geno - Dexys Midnight Runners takes me immediately back to being a teenager realising music is the heartbeat of life.

Processedpea · 02/11/2018 08:37

The Grass Is Blue by Dolly Parton.

PS You Rock My World by Eels.

Silver Springs by Fleetwood Mac.

And Days Of Our Lives by Queen. Poor Freddie

Thought of another:
Don't take away my music by the Tavares, from my era but the words are lovely and music has indeed always been the one thing lve got when all else has gone. Love my music.

Maelstrop · 02/11/2018 10:18

Mael Susan Boyle? Really?!

The initial audition? Hell, yeah!

CoolCarrie · 02/11/2018 13:44

Thank you Ozzy for posting the video! The songs of Nick Drake are so fragile and lovely. I wish more people knew of his talent. He was a beautiful soul

A thousand years - piano guys

It was my walking down the aisle song and it was the last song my husband and I danced to at our wedding. Just makes me feel such an abundance of love for him every time I hear it Smile

aconcernedrelative · 02/11/2018 14:37

Scorpions - Wind of Change (reminds me of the fall of the Berlin Wall)
Gerry Marsden - YNWA (think I'm the third to mention it. Still gets me)
Proclaimers - Cap in Hand

SamWidges · 02/11/2018 14:44

NRPDad · 02/11/2018 14:55

The Fear - Lily Allen

HettieBettie · 02/11/2018 19:47

Sweet thing can morrison

LilMy33 · 02/11/2018 19:48

Nantes- Beirut. The line “it’s been a long time, long time since I’ve seen you smile....” is particularly meaningful as I first heard it when someone very special to me sent me it at a very low point in my life.

I love the song so much. I plan to play it at my wedding should I ever have one.

Another one is Auld Lang Syne played on the bagpipes. We had it playing at my grandmother’s funeral and I always end up sobbing. I don’t even like bagpipes that much at all but that totally gets to me.

Babybearsporij · 02/11/2018 20:00

Count on me by Whitney Houston and CeCe Winans
Reflection by Christina Aguilera

Both remind me of a friend who isn't a friend any more. We had a very close and very intense friendship.

The hymn How Great Thou Art makes me cry every time. It reminds me of my Nan.

Somebody to Love by Queen just gets me. For no specific reason.

MrsMWA · 02/11/2018 20:03

I’m from further North than you - Wedding Present
Missing - Everything but the Girl
I would die 4 U - Prince
Sorrow - Bowie

Babybearsporij · 02/11/2018 20:06

Oh yes and Never Went to Church by The Streets. Such a raw, honest song.

clowdyweewee · 02/11/2018 20:08

Live Twice - Darius
Vincent - Don McLean

Martin1991 · 02/11/2018 20:09

I'll get along without you very well. By Nina Simone. I listened to this a lot last year during a very difficult time. Haunting.

KTCluck · 02/11/2018 20:41

There are loads that give me goosebumps, some already mentioned like ‘tears in heaven’ - Eric Clapton and ‘in the living years’ - Mike and the mechanics. ‘Dance with my father’ - Luther Vandross and ‘all
my life’ - K-Ci and JoJo are another couple of tearjerkers.

Paul Young’s ‘love of the common people’ gets me with “daddy’s going to buy you a dream to cling to, mama’s going to love you just as much as she can”.

Katy Perry’s ‘one that got away’ is another one. Her version does nothing for me, but there’s a version by May arcade on YouTube that I think is just lovely.

More recently Lily Allen’s ‘Three’ has had me sobbing, and Arctic Monkeys’ ‘one for the road’ was played at a friend’s funeral and will always give me goosebumps.

Also got goosebumps at Glastonbury 2016 to Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott doing ‘caravan of love’ after the brexit vote. That might have been the vodka though.

Last one I can think of is Sebastian Tellier, ‘la ritournelle’. Gorgeous piece of music.

Sorry, got a bit carried away Blush. Loving this thread and I’m off to youtube the ones I don’t know
