Takes you back to a moment?

Mine is Barcelona by Freddie Mercury and Monsterrat Caballe

I was 6 when the Barcelona Olympics were on and I remember being stunned at how powerful this song was even at age 6. It made me stand and watch. When I hear it I still get goosebumps and can remember the moment I heard it.

'You in the sky' by The Waterboys

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 02/11/2018 00:15

Ahhh Red sound of silence 😊

Maelstrop · 02/11/2018 00:20

@Fridaydreamer that’s a haunting version, guaranteed to make emotions rise if the mood is right! I adore Disturbed’s version too.

I’d say Stan, Eminem, absolutely tear jerking.

Angie, Rolling Stones.

Susan Boyle’s initial audition on BGT. Stunning.

I’m going to come back to this thread tomorrow.

FairVerona · 02/11/2018 00:22

A previous poster mentioned My grandfather's clock. I feel so sad when I hear that song and I'm not even sure why. We had a big grandfather click when I was a child so I thinink it's connected to that. Also Puff the magic dragon has me sobbing, I think it's list childhood or something. Whatever, gets me every time.

nandaandm · 02/11/2018 00:22

Played at my cousins funeral who took his own life.
I'd never heard it before but I have it on my play list now. I absolutely love it

alphajuliet123 · 02/11/2018 00:22

Just Like A Pill, by Pink. I'm not even a fan but the words "you're just like a pill, instead of making me better you keep making me ill" became a mantra and gave me the strength to leave an unhealthy relationship.

And various classic 90's dance tracks that take me right back to my raver days. Higher State of Consciousness gives me goosebumps every time, tuuuuuuuune!

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 02/11/2018 00:23

Mael Susan Boyle? Really?!

IlikebigbotsandIcannotlie · 02/11/2018 00:27

One more time.

Moreso after the Manchester bombing.

SpitefulMidLifeAnimal · 02/11/2018 00:53

I always thought Con te partiro was beautiful but hearing it yesterday had me in tears when I realised the last time I heard it was when Bocelli sang it at the King Power stadium. As an exiled Scouser, old enough to remember my own club's tragedy, You'll Never Walk Alone when Gerry Marsden sings it also gets me.

maddjess · 02/11/2018 03:53

Gonna make myself a playlist tomorrow and listen to all these songs.

For me roxy music - Avalon

Gilead · 02/11/2018 04:46

Just my imagination. The Temptations.
Rhiannon. Fleetwood Mac.
Love is Pleasing. Davy Graham.
Another Sleep Song. Graham Nash.
Cowgirl in the Sand. Neil Young.

Vivaldi1678 · 02/11/2018 05:07

Romeo and Juliet - Dire Straits
Angie - Rolling Stones
Paint it Black - Rolling Stones
Seems so long ago, Nancy - Leonard Cohen
Your song - Elton John
White Flag - Dido
All of me - John Legend

All of these have special memories, but the last one, 'All of me', was being played a lot when I lost my beloved dog, and I played it when I scattered his ashes on his favourite walk. Now it is bitter sweet and I can't hear it without crying, once embarrassingly in the middle of a meal in a restaurant with an old friend, but luckily he loves dogs and completely understood.

Vivaldi1678 · 02/11/2018 05:12

Also, 'Another Day in Paradise' by Phil Collins and the earlier 'Streets of London' by Ralph McTell. I live in London and love it intensely, but there is no denying the uncomfortable juxtaposition of extreme wealth and poverty living cheek by jowl.

youlooklikeaclown · 02/11/2018 05:40

Wing Beneath My Wings - Bette Midler, and an odd one here, Give It Up - KC and the Sunshine Band

Gilead · 02/11/2018 06:19

Oh gilead that is just gorgeous - new song for my Strictly Glitterball fantasies! thank you x Flowers

Bahhhhhumbug · 02/11/2018 07:45

You've got a friend
Something inside so strong.
The first played at my dad's funeral as he was such a true and genuine friend to everybody and would help anyone.
The latter at mums as she fought so hard for us to have a good life and had three jobs on the go. Then she had many long arduous health battles but just always smiled through.

OzzyMadBat · 02/11/2018 07:47

Posting one of coolCarrie's choices as the skies in the video are as beautiful as the song....

OzzyMadBat · 02/11/2018 08:01

Not sure whether to post as on these kind of threads I usually post the same ones but some of them may be new to some of you so....

K - Cigarettes after sex

Wires - Athlete If I be wrong - Wolf Larsen Auld wives - Bear's den The system only dreams in total darkness - The National 1,000 times - Hamilton, Leithauser and Rostam Numb - Marina and the diamonds
OzzyMadBat · 02/11/2018 08:09

Oh and I loved Coco and liked Remember Me but this should have won Best Original Song instead.

Neshoma · 02/11/2018 08:19

Chilling, especially towards the end around 4:40

Ronnyhotdog · 02/11/2018 08:24

Asleep - The Smiths, beautiful song
More than this- Roxy Music, transports me back to floating in the pool on holiday in Spain.

Ronnyhotdog · 02/11/2018 08:29

God yes, You’ll never walk alone. When the fans sing it I’ve been known to cry but I always get spine tingles. Fearless - Pink Floyd has the same effect.

keyboardwarriornot · 02/11/2018 08:30

My Temporary home by Carrie Underwood. Just listened to it and the tears start within the first minute. Can’t listen to it in public as it is just too embarrassing!
