Takes you back to a moment?

Mine is Barcelona by Freddie Mercury and Monsterrat Caballe

I was 6 when the Barcelona Olympics were on and I remember being stunned at how powerful this song was even at age 6. It made me stand and watch. When I hear it I still get goosebumps and can remember the moment I heard it.

I had a real unexpected moment last week that made me sob, listening to some music from my yoof. 'A little bit of luck' by DJ Luck and MC Neat came on. I closed my eyes and was vividly transported back to the dance floor of our teenage hang out, dancing with my cousin who was my best friend in the world. Her older brother (my other cousin), dancing with us. The sobs came from the fact that said older cousin died unexpectedly almost three years ago and this vivid memory completely overwhelmed me with the realisation I'll never see him again.

Do They Know It's Christmas

The bells at the start send shivers down my spine. I was 14 when the Ethiopian famine happened and it's stayed with me ever since.

Madbengalmum · 01/11/2018 19:51

Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls.
Trash-suede
Singing to me in my sleep- semisonic
Soft as snow (but warm inside)- my bloody valentine.

I believe in a thing called love- the darkness.

There's loads of songs that transport me back to a time in my life.

Excellent thread.

So many songs give me goosebumps, mostly 90’s britpop stuff. I’m really nostalgic about music.

I agree on Annie’s Song but because I’m a Sheffield United fan and we sing a version called Greasy Chip Butty 😂

ImaginaryCat · 01/11/2018 20:20

Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits. I'm immediately picturing the West Wing episode Two Cathedrals, with Jed in the church yelling at God for being such an arsehole and letting Mrs Landingham die.
It doesn't help that the friend I used to watch West Wing with has since died. She was a devout Christian and I'm still pissed off at her God for doing that.
So that music just leaves me sobbing wherever I am.
