To wonder where they all keep coming from (Halloween related)

Lighthearted. This is our second Halloween in our house and last year I guessed I would need maybe 30 bags for Halloween so I made 50 just in case. We were out in about an hour. DH put a few more together on the night. This year I did about 110 and we're out again! Where will it end! How many will I do next year? Should I start making them now?!?

Bags???
Not just a bowl of sweets??

NerrSnerr · 31/10/2018 19:09

Why are you doing bags? Just empty a big bag of sweets into a bowl.

Abra1de · 31/10/2018 19:09

What bags!?

MongerTruffle · 31/10/2018 19:10

Surely you just buy sweets and put them into a bowl for the kids to choose?

gladheart · 31/10/2018 19:11

You're attracting them with your bags.

VanGoghsDog · 31/10/2018 19:11

Yeah, they just get a single sweet here, from a bowl. A few are those very little packs of Haribo. I usually buy three or four big bags of sweets and empty them into a mixing bowl.

dreamyflower · 31/10/2018 19:11

Lol I just dumped bags of Haribo into a large bowl.. didn't make anything.

Thecatisboss · 31/10/2018 19:12

DH used to say in our last house "There's thousands of them coming" in the film Zulu style. We used to run out and then turn lights off and hide.

GreenMeerkat · 31/10/2018 19:14

In 8 years of owning my own house (two different houses), I have not had a single trick or treater. Baffling!

stiffstink · 31/10/2018 19:17

Same here - 8 years and not a single knock! I eat them all myself...

TisConfusion · 31/10/2018 19:20

Wow! We had 40 bags of sweets (like the little Haribo bags) and we've run out - I thought that was bad!

giantbanger · 31/10/2018 19:21

I have a whole box of the mini haribo bags and only the kids next door have knocked. My front light is broken but I've the curtains open and the living room lit up like blackpool (I sit in the back of the house)

Blanchedupetitpois · 31/10/2018 19:22

This is my first year in a house in a suburb following years of living in a flat, and we’ve had a gaggle of about 8 but that’s it. I want more, I’ve got pounds of sweets!

BigGreenOlives · 31/10/2018 19:23

I saw a friend yesterday who lives in a road where lots of people make a big effort & she said she’d spent £60 on sweets. We haven’t decorated this year so noone’s rung the bell

LagunaBubbles · 31/10/2018 19:25

Everyone makes up bags here, it's just a cheap packet of crisis and a few sweets in a food bag.

LagunaBubbles · 31/10/2018 19:26

Crisps!

Urbanbeetler · 31/10/2018 19:27

I wouldn’t want a cheap packet of crisis!!! Grin

DaysOfCurlySpencer · 31/10/2018 19:27

A few years ago, the first year we were here there were hordes of them, it was relentless. Lights were out but they still kept arriving.

Neighbour told us later that they were bussed in from other areas. It really was unbelievable and not very nice.

I have taken to putting black bags over the windows, closing the curtains and putting the lights of as a result. However, it has eased off a lot over the years and so far not one visitor this year although I am hiding in the dark. Wondering if they have all been bussed to another area to get their own back...

Devillanelle · 31/10/2018 19:28

I spent ages carving a pumpkin and decorating the house only for all the trick or treaters to turn up while I was putting the baby to bed.

Parents: take your kids trick or treating before 6.30 next year.

Oblomov18 · 31/10/2018 19:28

One each here.
Bowl of : Haribo, Maltesers, twix, chocolate bottoms, mentos, moam, fruitella.

When I run out I take all the outside decorations down and turn all the lights off.

tigercub50 · 31/10/2018 19:30

😂 at chocolate bottoms!!

VampireBatshittery · 31/10/2018 19:32

We have had loads and run out of treats. I didn't know there were so many kids in this area. Maybe they are being bussed in? Halloween Smile

ScreamieMum · 31/10/2018 19:33

Cheap packet of crisis - best description of Brexit I've heard yet..,

greeenghostie · 31/10/2018 19:34

The contrast on threads is strange. Another op complaining about kids taking too much, told to make up sandwich size bags with a few sweets in instead.
Op here and nobody knows what she means about the bags Confused

LBOCS2 · 31/10/2018 19:36

We live on a main road. In 9 years we've had maybe 3 trick or treaters.

I just went to collect the DC from our Childminder, who lives just around the corner but off the main road. In the ten minutes I was there (waiting for DD1 to come back from trick or treating!) the doorbell rang 7 times. Driving there and back the streets were thronged with very small vampires and witches. I had no idea it was so busy around here!
