AIBU?

A woman rammed me with her trolly today

I had the dcs to the supermarket this morning doing the food shopping. They were acting up a bit and I was stressed and harassed with them.

I was trying to get 2yo dd into the trolly and must have been blocking the trolly bay. I happened to glance at my side and saw a woman trying to get her trolly back. I said oh sorry and turned to dd to keep trying to get her in the trolly and the woman made a noise I can't even describe as a tut it was more of a growl, then proceeded to walk into the trolly bay regardless of the space she had to do so. It knocked my forwards into dd who was knocked into the trolly.

WIBU to put dd into the trolly whilst still inside the bay? I know i was in her way and I was trying to get dd into the trolly as fast as I could.

You should have taken the trolly out of the way but she has assaulted you!

Deliberate or did she misjudge the space?

Doesn't matter if what you did was unreasonable or not really. Her reaction was fucking disgraceful.

You probably shouldn’t have put Dd in the trolley in the trolley bay but it doesn’t give her right to act like that. What you did was mildly annoying but she assaulted you.

She was rude & impatient. She should have wired as it sounds obvious you were struggling a bit.
She also growled at you?!? Softzilla, is that you?

Afa trolleys and their drivers are concerned I always say oh sorry you weren't looking where you were going....
They hear the word sorry and assume its you apologising when you aren't at all!!

I would probably have secretly felt mildly impatient with you but to ram a trolley into you is completely disgraceful! It's assault.

Yes you were BU not to take the trolley out of the bay before putting your dc in.

But she was totally U and behaved appallingly

Did she actually do it deliberately? That would be weird, especially as ramming the trolley into the back of you still isn't getting it away.

Most trolleys have rubbish steering, I think I'd assume that she'd tried to get round you and not been able to persuade the trolley to go where she wanted.

Did she apologise for running into you?

Yeah I do know i should have taken the trolley out first but I just wanted to get dd in asap she's a flight risk these days 🙈🙈🙈 and I know if I was the woman waiting I probably would have thought to myself the same thing and thays why I apologised when I noticed her.

I'm just thinking maybe I should have moved out the trolley bay then but if have had carry dd and manoeuvre the trolley our which at the time I decided would take longer

Also she absolutely did it on purpose because when I caught sight of her I could tell she had been standing waiting on me so she knew she didn't have the room to get in. She obviously just decided she was done waiting regardless of me still being there. And she rammed it in forcefully she must have knew it was going to hit me. She was ramming me out the way.

Also fwiw despite knowing she had been stood waiting it couldn't have been long.... I'm talking seconds.

Could you shove DD into the main part of the trolley next time and the push it out of the way before seating her properly?

(not the actual point of the thread but) if you have a toddler who is a runner, you are better off to go and get the trolley first, bring it to the side of the car and put them straight into it. That way you avoid the risk of her giving you the slip across a busy car park.

Whilst you were annoying to her (and I sympathise with flight risk offspring), she did indeed assault you and indirectly your child who no doubt was upset at having fallen into a metal trolley.
Do you have bruising? I would be reporting the woman to the police, growling at someone and then doing that is not on. Hopefully the store has cctv and they can ban her too.

If you are on your own I can completely understand you putting her in, in the bay to get her in quickly and safely. I know I tend to with my son, as I'd struggle more to manoeuvre a trolley out and hold him and have my bags on my shoulder so it's quicker.

I'm sure waiting a minute didn't massively impact her day, and we could all probably have more patience and understanding with each other.

I’m a stroppy bugger at the best of times but even I wouldn’t have been that rude!

I’m also an arse so I’d have probably blocked her way out after that behaviour 😂

I might have been slightly pissed off with you but no need to behave so horribly.

YABU not to have trained your DC to projectile vomit on people like that.

Assault, really? Don't make people into victims when they aren't. The OP isn't posting about assault.

I'm disabled and if someone did this to me I'd be in bed for weeks, if not hospital. I'd absolutely be reporting her for assault.

She knocked your DD into the trolley? Is she okay?

confused Where are you from, that the police would take someone knocking a trolley into someone at a supermarket seriously? All it takes is for the other person to go "oops it was an accident"

She pushed her with her trolley so hard that the OP fell and knocked her DD out of their seat, that is assault. If someone pushes you thats assault, it’s not just about punching people.

It’s not a police matter though.
