What were your weirdest pregnancy cravings

I say this as someone who just ate a tin of cold mushy peas followed by hot beef gravy with bread dipped in it...

Yuck!!

Mine was milk with either frazzles or wotsits Wink

MrsStrowman · 23/10/2018 23:50

Salad cream, love it

Hidingtonothing · 23/10/2018 23:56

Roast beef, I could happily have eaten it for breakfast Blush

JosellaPlayton · 24/10/2018 00:04

Cucumber. I could eat a whole one in a sitting. Thankfully it’s not calorific so I think I got off lightly!

vampirethriller · 24/10/2018 00:38

Watermelon. Nothing weird except I started liking peanut butter which I always used to hate.

I'd eat that not pregnant.
My cravings were ice cream, orangina and pancakes for the girls and bombay mix for DS. With DS I went off pancakes and still can't eat them.

Merryoldgoat · 24/10/2018 03:25

Cold frankfurters wrapped in a slice of bread dipped in ketchup.

ComtessedeLancret · 24/10/2018 03:38

Sour worms, by the bucketload. I even had them in a little zip locked bag in a meeting once and someone pulled me up for it being “rude” not to offer them around - fuck off I’m pregnant, was my response.

NotSoThinLizzy · 24/10/2018 03:40

Curry sauce and tomato sauce on either bread or chips 😂😂

Helpimfalling · 24/10/2018 03:41

Cleaning my teeth and spraying bleach at the same time oooh I loved it

steff13 · 24/10/2018 03:50

Sour patch kids. I thought I'd burn a hole in my tongue with the sour powder on them, but I couldn't help myself.

Rebecca36 · 24/10/2018 03:54

Mine were ordinary by comparison: I liked opal fruits (sunburst) and the occasional fizzy drink, before pregnancy I never drank coke or lemonade and wasn't a sweet eater. I also started to eat roast beef which I hadn't previously liked, with sprouts and gravy!

I went off chocolate, cheese and coffee.

MissDai5y · 24/10/2018 04:01

Apple's was my biggest one. This is weird because I'm oddly phobic of them. The idea of touching the skin or the crunch sends chills down my spine, but I really wanted them.

I have to get OH to cut them up for me at.first but the desire became strong enough to do it myself. Although I have a tick when I'm doing it, I make a shhh sound when I'm scared or uncomfortable. Makes for interesting viewing watching shhh an apple while cutting them.

Not bothered again now, certainly wouldn't willingly touch one.

Also chicken balls (from chinese) and ice cream but that's not that weird for me.

sonicshoegazes · 24/10/2018 04:13

Ds1- Chicken pies! I had been a vegetarian for 6 years previously.

DD- Peanut butter and banana on toast- it's all I ate.

DS2- Wine gums...I can't stand these, never liked them bar whilst pregnant with him, he can't stand them!

SadieContrary · 24/10/2018 04:18

Tomatoes. Even though the acid made my heartburn even worse!

theculture · 24/10/2018 04:48

Huge cup of stock i.e. Beef or chicken stock cubes diluted in hot water . . .

Luckily DP took over responsibility for cooking and made sure I regularly had fruit and vegetables!

Graphista · 24/10/2018 05:02

You guys are all Waaaay Too normal!!

Me - you know the little wooden forks you get in the chippy? Chewing on them! No idea wtf that meant I was deficient in but then dh and friends took it on themselves to grab handfuls for me when in the chippy!

A friend loved the smell of house plant soil, another it was munching on small bits of charcoal (was ok'd by dr/midwife but she had a limit per day of X grams).

Pregnancy can be SO weird!

I'm veggie anyway but not squeamish but the smell of cooking meat triggered my morning sickness something awful! (Hence unable to go in chippy myself!)

Tadda · 24/10/2018 05:07

Has been different everytime - (Although the bitter/sour thing always - tangfastics/ bitter lemon - and always sauces (mustards, horseradish, salad cream - with everything) - although they seem to get increasingly 'less healthy'...!

Gherkins (The massive ones) dipped in Tzatziki, Tomatoes with mint sauce.
Cold brussel sprouts with hot gravy
Cold Baked beans with mayo/salad cream...

This time round anything 'cheese and onion' - currently a pasty thing - and I'm a coeliac trying to follow a low fodmap diet - so with a lactulose/fibregel/actimel chaser if I haven't had been able to get a decent 'free from' alternative!....9 weeks to go - !

Hidingtonothing · 24/10/2018 05:15

Not a craving but carrots tasted wrong to me the whole pregnancy, bitter and like I was eating soil. Oh and tea wasn’t right for a while either, pregnancy is indeed weird!

Conseulabananahammock · 24/10/2018 05:38

Plates of mushy peas. Not tinned ones but the dried ones you soak then cook for ever.

Conseulabananahammock · 24/10/2018 05:39

And craved the feeling on putting my hands in really hot water with lots of washing up liquid in it.... don't know why. Felt sooo good

Merryoldgoat · 24/10/2018 08:41

Oh, that was the other. Spicy food. Not terribly remarkable but in my 34 years I’d never tolerated anything hotter than a korma and I went to madras overnight. It was such an injoke wirh friends and family that everyone was genuinely horrified I was eating hot curry.

Limpshade · 24/10/2018 08:45

I didn't have any cravings while pregnant - not one! I almost wish I did as it's a pretty boring "confession". My sister was really into the smell of diesel fuel though, she used to stop at the petrol station to take a good inhale!

ILiveInSalemsLot · 24/10/2018 08:48

Vinegar. I would order chips in a cafe but they were simply a vessel for consuming vinegar.
And ginger beer too. I had to really limit myself but wanted to drink it instead of water it tea or anything else.

ILiveInSalemsLot · 24/10/2018 08:51

I’ve just remembered with dc1 I wanted to eat sand. I fantasised about that grittiness in my mouth. The urge got too much until I actually did it. Not big mouthfuls or anything but just a little bit for that gritty sensation.
