What were your weirdest pregnancy cravings

I say this as someone who just ate a tin of cold mushy peas followed by hot beef gravy with bread dipped in it...

gollygoodnessgraciousme · 24/10/2018 08:56

Raw carrots. Ginger beer. Sharing bags of sea salt and cider vinegar crisps.

Bluntness100 · 24/10/2018 08:57

Wine gums. I had to have a big bag wherever I went. I even went to work meetings with them. As my husband would occasionally try to eat some , I'd have to buy him his own bag, as it gave me the rage if he ate mine. I didn't particularly like wine gums before or after pregnancy.

I went off Mayonaise. Love it before and after. But whilst pregnant even the sight of it made me feel queasy. Literally.

DoYouLikeHueyLewisandTheNews · 24/10/2018 08:58

Chicken super noodles with suicide hot sauce. Also fizzy Vimto.

BluebellCockleshell123 · 24/10/2018 09:00

Fig rolls. Couldn't get enough of them. Even took a few packets on holiday with me.

NoWaterOnlyWine · 24/10/2018 09:02

Sponges. It kicked in around 34 weeks. I wanted to chew a wet sponge, and rip it up into pieces with my teeth.

I didn't act on it Grin mainly because I only had the manky old bath cleaning sponge and couldn't be bothered to go to the shop to get a new one.

Rinoachicken · 24/10/2018 09:05

Mashed potato - not so weird, but I wanted it with EVERYTHING, spag Bol, curry, you name it.

I would frequently just eat a huge plate of mash, covered in butter, and possibly peas.

Also, I was drinking so much milk a week (like 20pints by myself!) I honestly think it would have been more economical to just get a cow in the back garden! 😂

elf1985 · 24/10/2018 09:07

I had a nightmare about the fanta fruit twist character from the adverts and woke up desperate for it. Whilst drinking from a 2ltr bottle outside work all I could think was that it was disgusting but I couldn't get enough.

mizu · 24/10/2018 09:13

Early on with DD1 it was icelollies. We were living in a very hot country and my DH used to drive 3 hours to the capital to buy some and 3 hours back I was so desperate.

Back home by 6/7 months and it was chocolate - more than usual and especially curly wurlies. And pineapple, loads of it.

seventhgonickname · 24/10/2018 09:14

Corned beef sandwiches on white sliced bread(only in the NHS do you find these monstrosities),It was also the sandwich I was offered after I'd delivered, height!.
One if my friends had a thing about tinned frankfurter sausages. Not only did she have tins of it spare after she had her baby she was vegetarian and no one else wanted them.

AGirlinLondon · 24/10/2018 09:18

I’m 8.5 months and currently trying really hard not to consume cleaning products/bubble bath. I absolutely love the smell of them! Hehe DO NOT EAT

MrsMartinRohde · 24/10/2018 09:19

With both my DSs...
Worcestershire sauce crisps
Tuna sandwiches (only from
Waitrose, they had a kind of lemony mayo in)
But mostly - plain, full fat natural yogurt, the Yeo Valley one. I could eat it by the 500g tub

Utterly not bothered by any of these before or since

MrsReacher1 · 24/10/2018 09:20

Whole jars of pickled beetroot - and I drank the vinegar.
Irn Bru, ( and I never usually drink fizzy drinks)
Went completely off coffee- which I love - and chocolate - ditto

Raffles1981 · 24/10/2018 09:25

While pregnant, I ate so much better than I ever did/do! Fruit. Oranges, bananas, strawberries, yoghurts. Could not get enough. And mayonnaise. I like mayo but I could have it on everything!

Raffles1981 · 24/10/2018 09:26

Oh and cereal! Up to six bowls a day Confused

bumblebee39 · 24/10/2018 09:37

Ooh Yes the smell of bleach detol and flash with DC1 girl
Dc2 boy I couldn't stand meat so thinking this craving for sausages and gravy may mean Dc3 is another girl. Equally had the flash out more than normal!

CheetahMama · 24/10/2018 09:49

Aubergines! One week I had a whole one for dinner every night.
Also nectarines and Toblerones with first; 70s-style food with second (prawn cocktail, asparagus soup).

A colleague told me her husband once found her eating soil in the garden while pregnant...

SillySallySingsSongs · 24/10/2018 09:51

Jam, cheese and crisp sandwiches

Atalune · 24/10/2018 10:00

French toast with bacon and maple syrup. I ate it all the time.

Mushrooms and anything green and leafy used to make me heave and smelled like dirt/compost.

Full fat coke, ice cold. Would let myself have one once a week. Oh it was delicious. Can’t stand it now!!

With dd I had a craving for really sharpe really bitter things tgat was never really saited and would often lead to very frustrated crying. Poor dh was sent mad with my demands!

My mum craved liquorice with me and Iove it to!

spanieleyes · 24/10/2018 10:03

prunes and apple sauce, together.

Notfair2030 · 24/10/2018 10:07

Leather. Only thing to satisfy it was beef sliced thinly and covered in salt and pepper cooked in the oven so chewy

bumblebee39 · 24/10/2018 10:16

Me too with Coca Cola. Always drink sugar free or Pepsi but when I'm pregnant crave an ice cold red can of Coca Cola 😂 got some right dirty looks the one time I drank it in the midwifed waiting room even though midwife said 2 cans a day was ok if I was having nothing else high in caffeine or sugar.

OP posts:
bumblebee39 · 24/10/2018 10:17

Notfair30 should have had beef jerky! Xx

SeaToSki · 24/10/2018 10:29

With 3 dc it was stuff I went off more than anything I craved. With ds2 I craved fried rice and would even brave the vomit inducing smell of the chinese takeaway to get it myself. With all the dc, i coulnt look at or smell a gherkin without heaving. Made for some interedting conversations when ordering a sandwich as they are standard issue here in the States.

RedDrink · 24/10/2018 10:36

Chocolate and McDonald's.

I don't normally like either.

Nothisispatrick · 24/10/2018 10:39

I didn’t have any, but did go through a phase of loving strong chemically smells like petrol, t gel shampoo and tea tree oil. They actually made my mouth water.
