to have politely asked the workman across the road to pull his pants up?

He has been working in a few flats in a building across the road for many months now...end of May.
All through the blistering summer he has been waddling in and out of the building with his track suit bottoms riding 3/4 the way down. Often, his van is parked in front of my house and i am treated to several displays of his barely covered arse.
Today I had enough. He had held up the traffic unloading bags of plaster from his van, the strain of which made his pants inch further down than usual and we were fractions away from a total denoument. Mind you, he managed all this with a fag in his mouth so his priorities appeared a little strange. My daughter was with me and we both had to sit and watch the show.
We parked up, I let her in to the house then I crossed back and said, politely, "Do you know how low your pants go? Please could you try and keep them over some of your bottom, some of the time?"
naturally, he told me to go fuck myself and not look at his bum, to which I replied, 'There are times I have no choice and quite frankly, its boring now."
Unreasonable? Or should I not have to see his hairy bum out on a regular basis?

Tricky. Imagine if you were a bloke and it was a woman you were talking to. There would be uproar.

Squarepeg29 · 22/10/2018 17:19

You were not BU. These guys know what they’re doing, and they get off on it, the pervs.

headlessPersephone · 22/10/2018 17:20

I would have no issue asking a women to put her bum crack away in view of my children as I would ask a man........especially if working in my house

Linked0ut · 22/10/2018 17:22

Not necessarily. If a woman genuinely had three quarters of her arse hanging out of her trousers I don't think a man would face uproar for saying ''em, bigger trousers ?''

Lockheart · 22/10/2018 17:24

It's all very well saying you can't tell people how to dress, but there's a huge difference between "that dress is ugly" and "please cover your intimate areas".

You'd probably get the police having a word if you walked down the street naked, and if you're male then you'd not be allowed into lots of places without a shirt on. That's not shaming anyone, it's just the societal niceties of our culture.

Arse cracks should not be on display! I hope he doesn't use any public transport dressed like that...

Lockheart · 22/10/2018 17:25

I should probably add if you're female then you're also unlikely to be allowed into a lot of places without a shirt on Grin but when you see the "No Shirt, No Service" signs, they're usually aimed at men.

lolaflores · 22/10/2018 17:31

The man has been outside my house since May. Not a random passer by. Today I sat for 5 mins behind his van as he unloaded it and more and more of his bum appeared.
. There was nowhere to park or back up as cars were queuing behind me so I kinda had no choice in that situation did i? .
It's not nice, it really isn't and i understand people have different views on it but it's going on months.
As I said earlier, most of the summer he was topless and with the pants falling off.
I find it hard to believe that any o e with any self respect wanders about with their bum hanging out day after day?

lolaflores · 22/10/2018 17:35

Yes. Socially acceptable standards of how to present yourself in public.
He has been half naked before without a top and his pants skimming the bottom of his butt.
It's not comment in his style and fashion sense

I don’t understand how men’s pants stay up, some are so low and loose they walk in a strange exaggerated wide step which is so unnatural.

nellieellie · 22/10/2018 17:40

Good for you. No, you don’t have to look, but applying that logic, he could walk around stark naked. Bit of respect is all.

inashizzle · 22/10/2018 17:41

A.i.b.u ??? Having a laff? Who are you, the crack police?

I miss a wolf whistle off the building site as it's banned . Please don't get haughty toughty about bum cracks- most of us like a little bemusement.

lolaflores · 22/10/2018 17:41

Genuinely don't know how he isn't shuffling about with his pants roynd his ankles most of the day.

I once saw a man with this trouser situation and I honestly thought he was wearing off-white pants with a textured finish. He wasn't. It was bare arse which was extremely hairy. I mean hairy like he'd need to comb it.

I'm just shocked why they don't wear pants when they wear these trousers that fall down. I'd be mortified if my trousers did that. Do these men want to show off their bare bottoms?

Jutz · 22/10/2018 17:53

Hmmm it’s called a builders bum for a reason Grin

I would not have said anything. Perhaps the trousers are old and knackered. Perhaps they are comfortable.

I would say you were posh for saying bottom though. Instead of bum or arse.

HeckyPeck · 22/10/2018 17:57

Every time he did his trousers (no underwear) rode down and I could see up his actual dirty brown anus.

😂😨😭

Sparklingbrook · 22/10/2018 17:59

I am assuming he is pretty good at plastering/building if he's been there since May. It's been a very, very hot summer for manual work and you would wear your comfiest trousers wouldn't you?

I would put up with any amount of bum crack exposure if the workman was reliable and good at his job.

lolaflores · 22/10/2018 18:05

Textured finish....Oh Christ.
Don't.

lolaflores · 22/10/2018 18:08

For the sake of clarity...He isn't working for me. He has been working g on properties he owns across the road. 2 studio flats
I honestly can't comment on hos workmanship but that wasn't an issue.

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 22/10/2018 18:10

Well if he's been there since May whoever is employing him must be happy with his work and reliability. Smile

Sparklingbrook · 22/10/2018 18:11

Sorry, he owns the properties and he's doing the work himself? So he's your neighbour really?

crazycatgal · 22/10/2018 18:14

If a woman walked down the street with most of her arse hanging out then she's get ripped to shreds, so no yanbu to tell him to pull his trousers up. 🤢

lolaflores · 22/10/2018 18:45

It feels like he's a neigh bour at this point. He has sparked up a conversation with me once before and we had a brief chat but I was very conscious his pants were at half last and felt a bit embarrassed so j kept it brief....

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 22/10/2018 19:16

He'll be gone when he's finished the flats presumably and you will have some nice new neighbours hopefully who dress to your standards. Grin

I don't think a builder lugging heavy bags of plaster from a van is comparable to a woman walking down the street is it?

lolaflores · 22/10/2018 19:21

I should turnthe other cheek then?

OP posts:
Theyprobablywill · 22/10/2018 19:23

Turn the other cheek snigger
