To ask what people are afraid of with a People's Vote?

Bearbehind · 21/10/2018 17:36

Estimates reckon there were nearly a million people at the Peoples Vote march yesterday so support for it is high.

Why is it such a threat to others though?

If you're so convinced Leaving is the right thing to do for the country, why wouldn't you want that to be endorsed now people have a clearer idea of what is to come?

Or is it that you're worried Leave would now lose as it's been made clear there are no upsides?

In which case why do you want to go ahead with it anyway?

Moose - your flippancy saddens and appalls me

Hey, i could get the hang of this faux outrage thing. Where’s Bellinsurge when you need her/him/it???

Moussemoose · 25/10/2018 21:25

Yes we can throw any scrap of morality away and leave the ECHR. The ECHR which was set up after WW2, a war fought to preserve freedom.

The ECHR founded (in part) by the U.K. as a direct result of the atrocities of WW2. After fighting for freedom the U.K. and other European nations felt that out of all that destruction a lesson should be learnt.

The ECHR is a lasting legacy to those who fought in WW2 from all countries..... and you want that tossed away - while clinging to some idea of 'freedom'.

10 You really don't have a fucking clue do you?

My flippancy saddens you does it 10?

It certainly doesn't spur you on to reply with any detail.
My flippancy does however, indicate I have some idea of what I'm talking about. You are saddened by my historical knowledge but totally and utterly fail to respond in kind.

FishesaPlenty · 25/10/2018 21:27

... or the (remainer) self serving dickheads in parliament like the eu because, to paraphrase the ‘great’ Jeremy Corbyn, the eu is simplythe manifestation of big business?

That will be the same EU that does more to keep 'big business' in check than any government in the world could possibly do? You're full of shit.

Is somebody paying you to come out with this rubbish or are you just a sock for one of the deranged self-serving loons behind all this?

10degreestostarboard · 25/10/2018 21:28

Moose

Apparently not dear....

Bearbehind · 25/10/2018 21:29

I think it's clear there's no point inrespond to 10 because her / his intention doesn't stretch beyond goady fuckery.

bellinisurge · 25/10/2018 21:32

Hi @10degreestostarboard - I suppose goadiness will keep you warm.

10degreestostarboard · 25/10/2018 21:32

Goady?

Hey I’m just a regular Middle Englander trying to explain to you metropolitan types how your county actually is.

And there was my mistake, because YOUR country is the eu.

Moussemoose · 25/10/2018 21:33

10 are we going to leave the WTO as well?

Still waiting for you to tell me who the 'millions of forebears' are.

Although, while we are riding the faux outrage bus I am going to be outraged that you are using the sacrifice of others to make a point when you have no understanding of what it was, where it was, who it involved and why it started.

So pretty much the same level of understanding you have in relation to Brexit.

Business as usual folks nothing to see.

Talkstotrees · 25/10/2018 21:33

Freedom??!! What a fucking insult to those in the world who are truly suffering through oppression, persecution and enslavement.

Sorry, I don’t have time to source but totally agree with the poster who said we should ditch Brexit and form a cross party group to develop a strategy which addresses the real issues that create inequality in the UK. Leaving the EU will add to our problems, not solve them.

Do you think you are Braveheart?

10degreestostarboard · 25/10/2018 21:35

Moose

You can’t get properly enraged unless I mention medicines.

Because aunt Patricia getting her one a day hay fever tablets Is The Most Important Thing

You're explaining to me about the U.K..

You have little knowledge of its history and even less understanding of how the country is governed and you struggle with the language.

You say you can explain "how the country is" but an explanation involves 'explaining'. You can't just say 'freedom' and claim that is an explanation. It is in fact just a noun.

1tisILeClerc · 25/10/2018 21:37

{On the contrary - hard Brexit is the answer, we just don’t have time now to carry that out}
There is plenty of time for hard brexit.
Simply doing nothing between now and March 29th at 11pm is fine.
The morning after will be fine too, but a day or two after things will begin to get more than a bit 'strange', but hey you have got the sovereignty that you always had.
By the end of the following week you can probably look forward to a punch up in the queues at the supermarket, fighting over the remaining bits and pieces and your '5 a day' will be UK 'seasonal veg'.

Is there anything on MN which tells you where a poster lives? Otherwise how do we know that people are Metropolitan types? What is that exactly? Someone who lives in the Metropolis? Someone with a beard and sandals? Do tell.

It's a bit like the rubbish we had this afternoon from whollyfather about numbers at the demo - who were mostly foreigners or children according to him. Neither of which I am, and I suspected I was grown up and paying taxes when he was still in nappies. Who I am still awaiting a reply from about this list of trade deals. But I expect he's clocked off, now his shift has finished.

10degreestostarboard · 25/10/2018 21:39

Oh moose...

Chill - you know when you get like this you just end up wasting a day wandering through London with that ridiculous placard...

Bearbehind · 25/10/2018 21:39

Because aunt Patricia getting her one a day hay fever tablets Is The Most Important Thing

You disgust me 10

There are people with very genuine concerns about getting life saving medication and you think it's clever to belittle it.

Get over yourself.

Moussemoose · 25/10/2018 21:40

Medicines isn't my thing.

I'm enraged by your mention of "millions of our forebears" dying when you have a stunning lack of knowledge to back that up.

However, I am sure your attitude towards medicine will offend some people. Knock yourself out being rude to people though it explains a lot about middle England.

PineappleSunrise · 25/10/2018 21:40
