to drive a 12 mile round trip for Chinese food?

Have the most insane (PMT-fuelled) craving for takeaway. Specifically the absolutely amazing Chinese takeaway near my DP's house, 6 miles away.

WIBU to drive there just to get takeaway?

The only thing putting me off at the moment is the fact that I don't have a microwave to reheat it if it goes cold on the journey home 🤔.

Take a fork and eat it in the car

pumpkinpie01 · 21/10/2018 15:26

Yea I would it won’t take you that long, take some tinfoil and wrap it up tightly so it won’t go cold Smile

Kpo58 · 21/10/2018 15:26

YABU. You should get them to deliver it or use Uber eats to do so for you!

TheBiscuitStrikesBack · 21/10/2018 15:27

Is the 6 a typo? 6 miles is nothing!

PattiStanger · 21/10/2018 15:28

We don't all have delivery or Uber eats you know. I would do it, how long will it take you to drive back/

CatLadyToddlerMother · 21/10/2018 15:28

Could you go to your DPs house and eat it there so it's still hot?

ShadyLady53 · 21/10/2018 15:28

I’d do a two hour round trip for decent food 😂

ChateauneufDuTwat · 21/10/2018 15:28

They don't deliver and I don't have Uber Eats where I live!

Tin foil: why didn't I think of that! 🤦

No chance of me eating in the car, wouldn't be able to enjoy a single mouthful!

Take away we prefer is 4ish miles away it is still hot once we get back go get your chinese

helforddreams · 21/10/2018 15:29

Our nearest Chinese takeaway is 20 miles away (we live in the middle of nowhere). Had it in the week and it was still warm when we got it home. Enjoy!

BabyNumberDeux · 21/10/2018 15:29

Why can't you eat it at your DP house?

shouldidoitspoilt · 21/10/2018 15:29

Bring a hot water bottle and a bag and shove it all in enjoy

EvePolastriSorryBaby · 21/10/2018 15:30

Have you got one of those picnic bags with the foil inside? That might keep it warm.

ChateauneufDuTwat · 21/10/2018 15:30

DP not at home today otherwise I'd make him complicit in my cravings.

So 6 miles is practically nothing then.......? 😀

MrsJayy · 21/10/2018 15:31

Maybe the partner isn't home or the op is a greedy fecker and doesn't want to share Grin

GreenLantern53 · 21/10/2018 15:32

is this just an excuse to see your dp?

Orlandointhewilderness · 21/10/2018 15:32

Ha we live in the country, 6 miles is practically next door!
Go get your take away!!

GreenLantern53 · 21/10/2018 15:32

oh xposted maybe not then!

PattiStanger · 21/10/2018 15:34

It doesn't matter how far it is, surely the important fact is how long it will take you to get home to judge what you need to do to keep it warm.

EwItsAHooman · 21/10/2018 15:34

Wrap it in foil and put a blanket over it in the car to trap the heat in even more. If it's not as hot as you'd like then 20 mins or so in the oven in the foil containers should be enough to warm it through.

PositiveVibez · 21/10/2018 15:35

6 miles? Not a big deal at all.

ChateauneufDuTwat · 21/10/2018 15:35

GreenLantern I wish I could - we're still in that nauseating loved-up period where I miss him desperately when we're not together but yeah he's away 😭

Will just have to console myself with salt and pepper chicken.

picnic bags with the foil inside

Was about to suggest this

Any cool bag will do it. Especially if you line it with tin foil

Haberpop · 21/10/2018 15:37

I can only feel envious at a mere 6 miles. 6 miles is nothing, go for it.

loveajamsandwich · 21/10/2018 15:42

Six miles is nothing. Our nearest Chinese is closer to 20 miles away. Does your car have heated seats? It's a game changer
