To Block DP when he’s on work trips
LetsGoMushroomingAgain · 17/10/2018 19:58
DP is away approx every 2 weeks. He’s on work trips in Europe.
The work takes place in European castles. I’m jealous.
The day is a maximum of 5 hrs talking at people. The 5 hours is broken down into 2 x 1/2 hour breaks & 2 x 2 hour workshops.
There is always a team building activity i.e cocktail making class, wine tasting etc.
There is always a 5 course dinner and a free bar.
I get a blow by blow account of the activities & food porn photos.
I’m eating a salad cream & crisp sandwich.
AIBU to block him for the duration of his ‘work ‘ ?
Notacluewhatthisis · 17/10/2018 20:00
Just tell him to stop telling you all the details.
MakeAHouseAHome · 17/10/2018 20:03
YABU to be jealous/not want to hear about a key aspect of your partners job!?
Hassled · 17/10/2018 20:04
DH once rang me to tell me how he'd taken a helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon as part of his work jolly to Las Vegas. I was sat in our suburban semi with a vomiting toddler in one arm and a vomiting newborn in the other - I hated him in that moment. It's making me cross just thinking about it now.
So yes, block him.
user1473878824 · 17/10/2018 20:05
OP you forgot to say lighthearted so put your hard hat on.
wowfudge · 17/10/2018 20:05
Why don't you retaliate with a blow-by-blow photo account of your day. He might get the picture.
PositiveVibez · 17/10/2018 20:05
Cheese and onion crisp and salad cream butties ARE my food porn
sar302 · 17/10/2018 20:06
I really need to stop working in public services. We can't even get a free coffee now...
LovelyGirlNOT · 17/10/2018 20:07
YANBU.I'd tell him to just stfu while he's and lay off the smug texts & photos
YABU for that abomination of a sandwich. Salad cream is putrid
JobbyBum · 17/10/2018 20:09
@PositiveVibez You ever tried smokey bacon crisps in a sandwich with brown sauce? That’s food porn!
LetsGoMushroomingAgain · 17/10/2018 20:10
So yes light hearted- remiss of me
Sour cream pringles on tiger bread
Can’t be arsed to cook myself Michelin starred dinner as no trains into/out of Paddington fucked my day
InfiniteSheldon · 17/10/2018 20:11
Ya all bvu it's a fact that Marmite and Wotsit sandwiches are the best.
NonaGrey · 17/10/2018 20:12
Sorry you’ve had a rubbish day have some virtual and
Get your DH to buy you something nice in the chocolate aisle at the airport.
danigrace · 17/10/2018 20:12
I think YABU and he should be able to share his fun with the person he loves and you be excited and happy for him.
YANBU to want to have some fun of your own though. Could you schedule dinners out or pre prep yourself something nice/pamper evenings/movie night or whatever stuff you enjoy whilst he is away?
LetsGoMushroomingAgain · 17/10/2018 20:13
Oh & the company he’s working for (can’t name) are flying him out next week for a 1 hour workshop - me : ‘ WTF can’t you Skype ? ‘ seeing as I’m the taxi driver. Now I know why the EU has gone to shite
danigrace · 17/10/2018 20:14
Sorry you've had a rubbish day OP. Tell your DP you are happy for him but really wish you were there doing it all with him too. Hopefully he will do something nice for you
MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 17/10/2018 20:16
dh used to do this! Phone in the middle of bloody bedtime for three kids, say "oooh you'd love this hotel...." and then wonder why I was a bit snippy
OhComeOnRon · 17/10/2018 20:19
Yanbu! I'm jealous too. Block away.
Oh and To the pp's who don't see the obvious lightheartedness straight away.
KeysHairbandNotepad · 17/10/2018 20:20
I'm kidding , I do understand how you feel. I was insanely jealous of dh going out for his office xmas lunch last year. While he was eating a three course lunch with TWO hands , I was at home with our newborn eating one handed foods while (cluster) feeding the baby.
LetsGoMushroomingAgain · 17/10/2018 20:22
Every single week I ask ‘Products please ‘ ie all the high end bath oil , shampoo in the room . Nada.
MissConductUS · 17/10/2018 20:25
Since I don't know what salad cream is, I'd recommend you go with sliced banana and peanut butter sandwiches instead. Honey is optional but favored by some.
