To Block DP when he’s on work trips

LetsGoMushroomingAgain · 17/10/2018 19:58

DP is away approx every 2 weeks. He’s on work trips in Europe.
The work takes place in European castles. I’m jealous.
The day is a maximum of 5 hrs talking at people. The 5 hours is broken down into 2 x 1/2 hour breaks & 2 x 2 hour workshops.
There is always a team building activity i.e cocktail making class, wine tasting etc.
I’m jealous.
There is always a 5 course dinner and a free bar.

I get a blow by blow account of the activities & food porn photos.

I’m eating a salad cream & crisp sandwich.

AIBU to block him for the duration of his ‘work ‘ ?

Cricket, cricket, cricket...

LongSummerDays · 17/10/2018 21:02

MissConduct salad cream = a shit version of mayonnaise

Nothing like mayonnaise! It's a yellowy colour creamy texture gloopy sauce with a tangy taste. The absolute dogs bollocks in sarnies.

Mayonnaise has it's place but there's nothing like celery with salad cream. Egg & salad cream sarnie. Chips (french fries) dipped in salad cream. God I'm hungry now... Grin

UpstartCrow · 17/10/2018 21:02

I have salad cream and salad and now I want crisps. Or chips.

TotHappy · 17/10/2018 21:02

Gaah just tell us we all want that job.

Stonebake · 17/10/2018 21:04

Cricket, castles & talking at people... hmmmm

TitsalinaBumSquash · 17/10/2018 21:04

I haven't RTFT OP but your post made me remember a time when (admittedly I had raging PND) but I was up to my elbows in our family toilet cleaning off shit from the bowl after a child stomach issue and all I could hear was DH in the office in the next room having a right old laugh and joke about some silly office banter ... needless to say in my mind we were each one end of a scale in that moment and I lost my shit, really and truly bawled and ugly cried. YANBU

Ariela · 17/10/2018 21:05

When DH is away, we eat all the things he doesn't like eg fish (especially ones with eyes), pasta, salad.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 17/10/2018 21:07

My DP used to travel a lot for work, so I totally get this. The blow by blow accounts of lovely meals and nice hotels. I think he was mainly bored, as often in the evenings he was by himself in another country. Now he’s in a different job, but occasionally travels for sporting events - that’s worse, as they tend to be very drunken affairs.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 17/10/2018 21:07

Who is he said per Nicky Graham? Are you married to Olly Robbins and he is at an EU summit? This sounds like negotiating Junker style!

SecretWitch · 17/10/2018 21:10

AnnieLovesGilbert I haven’t had that snack since 1982. I still love mayo though and sometimes make my own.

So as to not hijack the Ops thread, the only time I have been jealous of my husband at work, is when he calls me from the helicopter to tell me how beautiful the city looks at sunset.

Spankyoumuchly · 17/10/2018 21:10

My dh says, 'oh I miss you all so much.' The last time he was away for a lengthy work trip was to Washington. He rang, ds2 had thrown up all over himself and the carpet. He had dinner in a restaurant, done sightseeing and was sleeping in a hotel room. I didn't believe that he was missing us at all. And he got to sit on a plane for seven hours watching films without any dcs doing annoying stuff.

Urchinella · 17/10/2018 21:11

I had a rich tea biscuit sandwich with butter in last week.

Mayo? No.

Dahlietta · 17/10/2018 21:11

Sounds like Brexit will put an end to it all Wink

notangelinajolie · 17/10/2018 21:12

YABU Sandwiches need to be dairylea and cheese and onion crisps.

LetsGoMushroomingAgain · 17/10/2018 21:14

English Cricket.. but not cricket

Anyway I’m so bored so I just messaged ‘heading to bed ‘ hoping to get a call but no

‘ just finishing a gorgeous Cognac will call shortly’

Phone off. Finishing cheap Pinot. Added chilli jam to the sarnie. It was lush

He's an insect expert with particular knowledge of the behaviour and environmental requirements of crickets in exotic European castle habitats isn't he?

A David Attenborough-type insectivore champion.

LetsGoMushroomingAgain · 17/10/2018 21:21

They rule Europe right now
