To Block DP when he’s on work trips

LetsGoMushroomingAgain · 17/10/2018 19:58

DP is away approx every 2 weeks. He’s on work trips in Europe.
The work takes place in European castles. I’m jealous.
The day is a maximum of 5 hrs talking at people. The 5 hours is broken down into 2 x 1/2 hour breaks & 2 x 2 hour workshops.
There is always a team building activity i.e cocktail making class, wine tasting etc.
I’m jealous.
There is always a 5 course dinner and a free bar.

I get a blow by blow account of the activities & food porn photos.

I’m eating a salad cream & crisp sandwich.

AIBU to block him for the duration of his ‘work ‘ ?

Salad cream and crisp sandwich? VOM!

Emmageddon · 17/10/2018 20:27

Oh the least he could do is bring you back all the miniature toiletries - brilliant for gym bag/swimming bag/hand luggage.

Salt and vinegar crisps on soft white sliced bread with butter and garlic mayonnaise for me.

spiderplantsalad · 17/10/2018 20:28

Where does he work, and are they hiring?

Ellisandra · 17/10/2018 20:28

I travel a lot for work.
Even in fancy hotels, the products are often replaced by big dispensers.
Also, team events and dinners... sometimes it’s tiring and boring being stuck being professional and engaged and interested in public. Sometimes, you want to be at home, or in your own.
Sometimes - genuinely! - I’ve had a fancy meal and thought “I just want some fucking crisps! Sad

I say cut him some slack Wink

InfiniteVariety · 17/10/2018 20:30

My DH used to do this all the time (he's retired now). I remember one time he phoned me from a vineyard in the Loire Valley, standing in a cobbled courtyard sampling all these fine wines, while I was covered in babysick….
I always laughed at those scenes in "Motherland" where the main character was stressing out on the phone to her husband about everything that was going wrong at home and he was always having a great time somewhere on a boat or car racing!

stressedoutpa · 17/10/2018 20:31

Do they have any vacancies?

CoughLaughFart · 17/10/2018 20:34

Oh and Hmm To the pp's who don't see the obvious lightheartedness straight away.

Maybe it’s because ‘lighthearted’ threads are pretty much always shit.

RyderWhiteSwan · 17/10/2018 20:36

I love cheese and onion crisps and salad cream sarnies. Gonna try the smoky bacon and brown sauce combo.....

PurpleMac · 17/10/2018 20:37

Fuck me I'd kill for a crisp and salad cream sandwich right now.

DieAntword · 17/10/2018 20:39

I get totally jealous when my husband goes away with work. The worst part is he moans about it while I sit at home wishing it was me. Takes it totally for granted.

If I say "ok then I'll have the high powered career and do the travelling and you can be a SAHD" though suddenly he doesn't think he has such a raw deal :(

LetsGoMushroomingAgain · 17/10/2018 20:40

Ellisandra I’ve accompanied him on a couple of the trips.

It’s lush

I couldn’t be sat with the group so I had my own table. It was decadent.
At every venue the ‘hosts’ retire after dinner & it’s open house of cheese boards & FULL open bar - you serve yourself.
He’s very lucky but my £4.50 Pinot is really not cutting the mustard right now

I've never thought of a salad cream and crisp sandwich. Bet it would be nice with pickled onion crisps.

SlowlyShrinking · 17/10/2018 20:40

MissConduct salad cream = a shit version of mayonnaise

Lifeisabeach09 · 17/10/2018 20:40

I'd be jealous too, OP.
Definitely tell him to STFU.
And, definitely, get some away time yourself.

leaveituntiltomorrow · 17/10/2018 20:41

All relationships have different dynamics I guess. My DP would be told to stfu if he had a great set up like that. I get cross if he’s had something nicer than I had for lunch Grin

SecretWitch · 17/10/2018 20:42

My grandfather used to make me mayo and biscuits as a snack when I was little.

YANBU.

Stonebake · 17/10/2018 20:45

Yanbu! I’d also be envious and secretly fuming!

Mind you, I just had a pretty amazing Michelin star meal out with my best friend last weekend while dh looked after the dcs... so I DEFINITELY can’t complain if this ever happens on one of his work trips, (which is very unlikely anyway).

I also am curious as to what job this is op...? Just out of interest like, you know .

Stonebake · 17/10/2018 20:46

Oh balls, I also forgot LIGHT FUCKING HEARTED^! I would actually^ be fuming.

AnneLovesGilbert · 17/10/2018 20:47

Sweet biscuits SecretWitch?!

LetsGoMushroomingAgain · 17/10/2018 20:50

Think cricket

OP posts:
WickedGoodDoge · 17/10/2018 20:53

At least it’s tiger bread, not value sliced white. I love tiger bread .

YANBU

SecretWitch · 17/10/2018 20:54

AnneLovesGilbert generally a digestive. I looked forward to the days I spent with my grandfather as my mother did not subscribe to the mayo/biscuit combo.

LetsGoMushroomingAgain · 17/10/2018 20:54

The organisation isn’t cricket related but lateral thinking my help some dusting off the cvs/keyboard

OP posts:
AnneLovesGilbert · 17/10/2018 20:57

My mind has been blown SecretWitch. Do you still eat it now?

littlepeas · 17/10/2018 21:01

My dh is constantly on exciting jollies in the name of work - he also sends me lots of pictures. I quite like your blocking idea!
