To be fed up beyond belief with the trans activists

I'm so sick of the bigotry now. Surely these people just want to have a piss in peace without being hassled?
What rights is it exactly that the trans activists are shit scared that women are going to lose out on?
I wish they'd all just be quiet and let others live their lives how they see fit without reprisal or judgement from narrow minded idiots.
I honestly feel that this debate is just a platform for the bigots to congregate to attack a minority because we all know what attaching ethnic minorities, gays, lesbians etc is just not acceptable. How is this any different?

The dangers to women and girls.? Well The vast majority of abuse towards them is from trusted men in their lives. People they trust ... And that they know are not trans! The old old old myth that abuse is committed in public places eg toilets, swimming pools or parks, by strangers is nonsense. It is now being twisted further on here by stating that nasty stranger maybe infact be a hidden trans!! The reason people who are supportive of trans individuals would not enter into a reasoned debate on this board is difficult if the debate on one side is using myths, false news and media fuelled stereotypes of the trans community. Also the aggressive tone eg shouting in CAPITAL Letters lol probably doesn't facilitate it either. As a long term feminist I have used women only spaces if you want to call it that... Since the 1980s and they have never been "infiltrated" as you suggest by openly trans women. Trans women would be welcomed by me anyway as they are women. My son is a man (he is not a child BTW) and as a trans man he has struggled with oppression and prejudice from society and this means he can empathise with others, including women. And I did not say trans people has serious mental health problems...... I linked high suicide rates to levels of discrimination and rejection faced by trans people. But again mental health problems are not a major causal factor in abuse of women and children.. Most men who abuse them have no significant mental health problems and are operating outwardly in society as likeable caring fathers, grandfathers, brothers teachers, priests etc. Please look at the statistics and facts on sexual violence before scapegoating the trans community. That at least would be a start.

daphne

Not that you care about my opinion but i am yelling because no one is listening to me

Its not aggressive...its frustrated

Go on...tell me my views

I bet you cant..

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 17/10/2018 23:17

Actually dont bother

HIVpos · 17/10/2018 23:21

@Daphne65 thank you for posting and I hope your son is doing well and is happy. This is an example of constructive exchange and getting views from all sides.

Re sport, not knowing anything about it, I went googling. Trans people it seems have been allowed to participate in the Olympics since early 2000s and rules were then changed in 2016. The latest (2018) rules have toughened up even more in halving the amount of testosterone allowed for trans women. So interestingly there are restrictions in place.

BlackeyedSusan · 17/10/2018 23:26

perhaps we should concentrate on sexual assault by males...

oh yes, males rapists in female prisons, perhaps we should campaign for that not to happen?

or how about reducing voyerism, and protect children like the two young girls (10 ish) who were filmed by a teen whilst in the public toilets?

do you think the advice of a peadophile who tortured a primary school girl should be considered?

thenightsky · 17/10/2018 23:26

Daphne, I agree that women and children are mostly abused by the very men who have access to them. Which is why it is we have problems extending that access to anyone who says they are a woman.

Chalkhillblu3 · 17/10/2018 23:28

Please all of you fill in the consultation, it is a very boring document, but ranting on here doesn't do a thing.

www.gov.uk/government/consultations/reform-of-the-gender-recognition-act-2004

Closes Friday 11pm

GunpowderGelatine · 17/10/2018 23:29

Why do you think sports competitions are segregated by sex. Anyone?

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 17/10/2018 23:31

Aggressive tone Grin

Typing in capitals...ridiculous!

Im all chilled again

That is interesting HIV

Do you think it makes a difference halfing the testosterone?

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 17/10/2018 23:31

Apologies

Halving obviously

Daphne65 · 17/10/2018 23:31

Can only go on 30 plus years professionally supporting female and victims... It is not just those who have access 90% of my cases have been those who trusted them and had close relationships with them. So many myths about abuse regurgitated by the male dominated media. Of course the Internet has brought a whole new set of issues but that is not my specialism and a massive debate outwith this post. On another not trans gender individuals have been around and amongst us since ancient Egypt if anyone is interested this summarised some main historical elements www.cbc.ca/doczone/m/features/timeline-transgender-through-history

noeffingidea · 17/10/2018 23:33

the old old old myth that abuse is committed in public places eg toilets, swimming pools, or parks by strangers is nonsense
How dare you? It certainly isn't a myth or nonsense. People have posted on here about being raped or assaulted in toilets, swimming pools and other public places.
Of course the majority of sexual abuse occurs within the family or close relationships , thats because the abuser has more and easier access to their victims. Duh. That doesn't mean that sexual predators don't take advantage of other opportunities when they get the chance. Do not attempt to minimise the victim's suffering.

90% of my cases have been those who have trusted them and had clise relationships with them
So lets just ignore the other 10% then shall we? Thought you were a feminist ...

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 17/10/2018 23:36

that they can't see the trans phobia that some of us refer to - what does this post mean?

Oh i would have a go at answering this but unfortunately ive never said that there is no transphobia on mumsnet

Weetabixandshreddies · 17/10/2018 23:40

Many have said that though.

Have you called any out on it?

Daphne65 · 17/10/2018 23:42

Obviously I was pointing out the stranger danger myth plus my long term experience... I did not mean it had never happened in public places.. It is much much more unlikely and I was not minimising the victims experience. I have dedicate 30 plus years to try and help combat abuse of women and children and supported 1000s of victims the best I could.
This article I liked as it explains how I feel about the current transphobia www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/apr/19/anti-trans-rhetoric-homophobia-trans-rights

HIVpos · 17/10/2018 23:43

Rufus, I would guess it does otherwise the rule wouldn’t have been implemented. www.pinknews.co.uk/2018/04/22/trans-athletes-testosterone-olympic-2020-toyko/

I’m not sure how many trans people have entered past Olympics - I haven’t read of any that have won medals so far. Anyone else know?

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 17/10/2018 23:44

I have reported posts

dont tend to call out every post

Sometimes i do when i see them

There was a thread the other day and apparently there are loads if transphobic posts still standing because noone had reported them...which was a bit strange because you would have thought that the people complaining about the posts would have reported them

Have you reported that post weetabix has it been deleted yet?

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 17/10/2018 23:46

HIV

You've obviously looked into it

but you wouldnt think that muscle mass or height or stuff like that would make a difference ?

Or do you think its just testosterone?

Personally i think all of of makes a difference, but im interested to read your link as i thought that the lowest transwoman testosterone was still higher than any females

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 17/10/2018 23:48

Sorry HIV i cant get on that link

Could you possibly tell me what the testosterone rate should be for transwomen according to the article as i cant see it

Thanks

Weetabixandshreddies · 17/10/2018 23:48

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer

Yes I've reported it.

Have you?

snapnfarter · 17/10/2018 23:49

This. Put more effectively and succinctly than I could ever, let alone on a stupidly busy day for me.

noeffingidea · 17/10/2018 23:51

Daphne have you looked at the stats in places where there are a lack of safe facilities for women and children, eg India? I think you'll find they are a lot higher. How about refugee camps? Did you know some women are afraid to go to the toilet or showers because rape is so prevalent?

VenusInSpurs · 17/10/2018 23:53

OP, how do you feel about all women’s sports events being won by Transwomen? How do you feel about your 13 year old daughter sharing a 2 person room on a school trip with a 14 year old who has very recently self id’d as a girl?

And... what is it you think ‘bigoted’ women want to stop? I don’t know anyone who wishes individual Transwomen anything other than support for the freedom to express gender constructs. It’s just when it crosses the line to sex-segregated spaces. Such as women’s sport, or providing personal care to vulnerable young women with SEN, for example.
