To think the tide is turning with transgenderism

There have been a flood of articles in mainstream newspapers criticising transgenderism and putting forward the feminist perspective. It is not long ago that no mainstream newspaper would carry these articles. The tide seems to be turning.

Sadly I disagree OP.

The Wellcome Collection was in the news this week for spelling the word women 'womxn' to be more inclusive. The event was about the way women are 'excluded, catalogues and classified' yet they chose to erase the word women in an attempt to broaden the remit to include biological men. They have apologised, but the point is they did it.

Recently I had a supermarket home delivery. What looks like a 6ft tall, brad shouldered, beer bellied man comes up the garden path with my shopping. Ordinarily the delivery man will wait outside and pass the boxes to me to unpack inside. This delivery driver barged into my house. In the light of my kitchen I could see earrings, makeup and nail varnish. I felt intimidated, but I also felt that I had to tread carefully for fear of being accused of transphobia. I haven't done home delivery since, as I need to feel secure in my own home.

Sorry caligua i missed your post

Thank you for your comments

ADastardlyThing · 11/10/2018 16:39

The irony of some of these posts made by someone who accidentally made a transphobic post themselves is delicious. Seconds please!

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 11/10/2018 16:39

hy do you think so many people drop in to call everyone transphobic then never return

I am unable to comment on this part

Ive got a good track record for not being deleted much and I'd like to keep it

VerbeenaBeeks · 11/10/2018 16:40

I'm saying they do if they're pointed out as the site's post moderated (I think it is anyway) in that they'll look at posts if and when they're reported.
Only then if they're clearly transphobic and then not always.

PlantsArePeopleToo · 11/10/2018 16:42

To go back to a previous point, Lily Madigan should be held up to the same scrutiny as everyone else. Like I said before, if it was a woman going on like she does then people wouldn't hesitate to criticise her, take the piss out of her and question her mental health. Why should LM be held to differing standards just because she's trans?

whatsthecomingoverthehill · 11/10/2018 16:44

That comment was disgusting, even if it was supposed to be haha sarcastic.

Yes, it is disgusting how trans rights people try to make the women's rights argument as being a "Battle against transgender people".

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 11/10/2018 16:44

Oh i agree with that self reporting bit verbeena

But surely you are still saying that mumsnet are not deleting openly transphobic posts

Or that posters who say that there are masses of transphobic posts aren't reporting them for some reason, which seems odd but might make more sense I suppose

Anyway, i think we might be flogging a dead horse here so ill stop Smile

BalthazarImpresario · 11/10/2018 16:48

I'm not happy that a woman I know is branded a rapist, where should she go to the toilet? The ladies where she feels she belongs and is only there to have a wee or the gents where she is likely to be beaten up?

Same goes for a teenage boy I know, he doesn't have a penis so should he be in the male toilets? But he looks like a teenage boy so yet again, branded a sexual predator if he goes into the female toilets.

I don't understand the hysteria around mix gender changing rooms as all the public pools etc in my town have always been mixed gender. I have no issue in mixed gender loos etc.

VerbeenaBeeks · 11/10/2018 16:49

The Lily Madigan ones that always get into such name flinging oh so witty Lily Mad Again type jibes? Yep, it's usually nowt to do with actual points and out and out nastiness dressed up as concern.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 11/10/2018 16:53

I dont go on LM threads as the subject bores me senseless

But loads of people in the public eye are picked apart on mumsnet

I remember amanda holden being a particular 'picking' target

I dont go on those either...

VerbeenaBeeks · 11/10/2018 16:53

The more I've been reading up, the more I don't mind either. At first on here when just reading the hysteria and the "gender critical" view, I was pretty horrified too.
Thinking about it though, we have family changing rooms at a lot of the swimming pools. Mixed.
Toilets in cafes etc, usually mixed.
Have been for years.

Elephantinacravat · 11/10/2018 16:54

VerbeenaBanks your posts are getting so tedious. You never say anything of substance, you never construct any kind of argument. You just shout 'transphobia'.

PlantsArePeopleToo · 11/10/2018 16:54

And again, people would be doing that even if she wasn't trans. Lily should be held up to the same standards as any woman who isn't trans would be. If any woman was going on the way she is people would still be taking the piss out of her. Why do you think she should be held to different standards just because She's trans?

UpstartCrow · 11/10/2018 16:55

This is Karen White, who has just been given a life sentence for crimes including several rapes while on a womens psychiatric ward.

Psychiatric wards are locked and the women often medicated and sedated.

To think the tide is turning with transgenderism
Elephantinacravat · 11/10/2018 16:57

Unisex changing rooms are a problem, according to the data:

www.independent.co.uk/life-style/women/sexual-assault-unisex-changing-rooms-sunday-times-women-risk-a8519086.html

VerbeenaBeeks · 11/10/2018 16:58

VerbeenaBanks your posts are getting so tedious. You never say anything of substance, you never construct any kind of argument. You just shout 'transphobia

The last time I actually got suckered into answering what is a woman type question, nobody actually gave a shit and just refused to actually listen to anything they didn't want to hear. So again - pointless engaging meaningfully anymore which is why you're usually left with an echo chamber.
People give up and get fed up even more.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 11/10/2018 16:59

VerbeenaBanks your posts are getting so tedious. You never say anything of substance, you never construct any kind of argument. You just shout 'transphobia

Yes, that is true. Scrolling past them is tedious but worth the effort.

Elephantinacravat · 11/10/2018 16:59

Toilets in cafes etc, usually mixed.

Toilets in cafes are not 'mixed'. They are usually one totally enclosed toilet that both sexes can use. That is not the same as mixed sex toilets.

VerbeenaBeeks · 11/10/2018 16:59

Why do you think she should be held to different standards just because She's trans?

I don't, I just don't see why she should get ripped to shreds for her looks which is what you see time and time again on there.

UpstartCrow · 11/10/2018 17:00

Nothing to say to Karen Whites victims?

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 11/10/2018 17:00

Toilets in cafes are not 'mixed'.

I have never been in a cafe that had 'mixed' toiletries. They have invariably been unisex, not mixed.

VerbeenaBeeks · 11/10/2018 17:01

Yes, that is true. Scrolling past them is tedious but worth the effort.

Then you wonder why people don't bother and turn off FWR.

VerbeenaBeeks · 11/10/2018 17:02

Loads of swimming pools are definitely mixed sex changing rooms.

UpstartCrow · 11/10/2018 17:02

And have an increased rate of incidents involving voyeurism and assault.
