to worry about DH?

I'm committing the MN cardinal sin of posting in AIBU for traffic.

DH suffers from migraines and seemed to go down with one last Thursday, a really bad one. It hasn't followed the normal pattern and he has remained at a high level of pain since Friday. He cannot tolerate moving, talking, any light. I phoned NHS Direct at 3am on Monday when he was incoherent with pain and they told me about NICE fever guidelines (he hasn't got a fever) and we saw the emergency GP later that day who prescribed Tramadol which just made him itch.

Nothing has worked. The tramadol, aspirin, codeine, ibuprofen, migril, paracetamol (not all at the same time, tried different things according to advice). Not even taken off the edge.

Today he's started vomiting violently.

We have another appointment at 11am.

What is it? This is not a migraine. It's just not fitting his lifelong pattern. 20 years together and he's actually called in sick for the very first time.

I'm a nurse and bouncing about on days and night shfts certainly made my migraines more frequent and stronger. I switched jobs to stay on days only and they have settled down a lot.
I agree with museumum and wonder why they haven't used triptans. I was given an injection at the hospital of triptans for my worst one and after a 5 hour nap I woke up woozy and no longer in pain.

SilverHairedCat · 10/10/2018 20:49

OP has said he can't have triptans as they give him severe chest pain, he is supported on this by neurology

I asked earlier too, he takes ergotamine, its been ineffective this time.

ShowOfHands · 10/10/2018 21:43

CT wasn't clear after all. Lumbar puncture confirms a bleed on his brain. He'll be transferred to a bigger hospital when they have a bed. Reeling a bit.

So sorry to read this.
Please ask the ward manager for a car park pass. At least you wont have the worry of the expense.
I really hope your DH feels better soon. They will have to look into why this has happened.

Oh god Showy, just seen this. Best of luck and love to you both.

Is there any chance it’s some sort of residual injury from when he had his accident a few years ago? Have they mentioned it in that context?
