Hello :)

I'm just curious really - I was talking to a friend and said I was hoping to be in my old clothes 3 months after the birth - it's my first baby and I'm naturally very slim, the only weight I've gained in the pregnancy is basically bump/baby. She said I was BU and that it would take at least 12 months! I know losing the weight really isn't the be all and end all but just for my own reasons really I'd love to be in a situation by then where my pre pregnancy clothes would fit (unless of course I have a c sect or very difficult birth that means I can't actually get out for walks and stuff for a while!)

I guess my question is am I being unrealistic? Interested to hear everyone else's stories?!

I’ll let you know... currently at almost 3 years but I keep losing my motivation! Got to the point of thinking I might as well until I’ve had another baby as hopefully that will be soon!

Hatstand · 08/10/2018 14:16

Within a few weeks but I was overweight at the start of the pregnancy and lost weight in the first trimester. My bump was all baby. Breastfeeding probably helped too.

HalleLouja · 08/10/2018 14:19

I was back in mine straight away the first time (I didn't have to buy maternity jeans and had a slightly premmie baby). The problem was after DS was born I put on more weight. All those coffee and cake mornings didn't do me any good.

Second time I was definitely in maternity clothes and is much more of a blur.

Hatstand · 08/10/2018 14:20

Although as pp said my body shape has definitely changed, I now understand why my mum loves high waisted jeans!

UnderHerEye · 08/10/2018 14:23

Never did!

Magpiefeather · 08/10/2018 14:23

15 months for me. Totally depends on a lot of thjngs. I ate badly and didn’t exercise enough cause I was so tired all the time. My fault, obviously may not happen to you!!

Blueistheneworange · 08/10/2018 14:30

First baby I would have back back my jeep answer the next day except I had c-section and the would was sore, so it took a week. Second baby, second section it took a few weeks, third baby, third section I’m still waiting even though the teen is taller than me Grin. But I was very slim, didn’t gain much weight and had very little fluid around my small babies. Everyone is different and it also depends on how old you are when you give birth. I was in my 30s when I had my third child and it makes a difference.

Ffiffime · 08/10/2018 14:34

Same day 😊
I was lucky though, I’d only put on 17lbs on my first and 12lbs on my second and lost it all within a week.

OddestSock · 08/10/2018 14:42

A few days each time, but I was a size 14 pre-pregnancy & didn’t put on a lot with my first & id lost it all be the time I left hospital. With my 2nd I was sick throughout pregnancy & put on very little weight so when I got home I was lighter than my pre-pregnancy weight

Her0utdoors · 08/10/2018 14:42

Dd, 2years, ds, I doubt I ever will, still 3 1/2st more than when I concieved him, in my 40s with a 4cm DR... oh well!

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 08/10/2018 14:45

5 weeks with my 2nd aged 40 and she was delivered by a 2nd emergency section. I think I could have probably got in them earlier but I just didn't try. I didn't gain much weight though, was pretty much all baby and was back doing the preschool run (3 mile round trip) on foot with a pram by week 2.

TheKitchenWitch · 08/10/2018 14:47

A week for both. I only put on baby weight, so it basically all came off once the baby was out.
I don’t think it’s an age thing, I was old with both of mine, 34 and 42. And I’m not fit either, although I’m fairly slim. I think it’s genetics and luck tbh.

Strokethefurrywall · 08/10/2018 14:51

DS1 - a week or so but I didn't want to wear them, I just put them on to see if I could. I gained 20lbs with him and lost 17lbs of it a week post-partum.

DS2 about 4 months, but that's because I had him just before Easter and I congratulated myself on my new baby by eating multiple 10oz bags of mini eggs through my mat leave. So it wasnt baby weight so much as "stuff my face" weight.

It's all random though, my kids are 7 and 4 now and I'm in better shape now than I ever have been!

DN4GeekinDerby · 08/10/2018 14:53

I could get into my typical clothes just fine pretty much right away but they felt and looked different. My body composition ratios changed quite a bit with each child - my waist-hip-bum area particularly changed so that even though clothes fit, the fit of the clothes would not be as they were. I actually gave up on jeans for a while and wore looser clothes that could better accommodate those changes - still haven't found jeans that feel like they fit all the areas right.

It still sometimes feels years on that my chest is not the same for more than a few months at a time which can also be frustrating. Bodies can just be weird and everyone is so different in how they feel post birth and how their body reacts even if it's a straightforward delivery that you can just do what you can do and try to have comfy clothes on hand as best you can.

GerdaLovesLili · 08/10/2018 15:00

Baby 1 (I was 21, baby 7lb ) Less than a week.
Baby 2 (I was 42, baby 9lb3oz EMCS) Still no jeans 10 years later. Sad

noeffingidea · 08/10/2018 15:02

A few weeks each time, though I might have had a bit of a muffin top. I always carry any excess weight round my waist, no matter how long after I've given birth. I don't really wear jeans much now, for that reason.

Shazafied · 08/10/2018 15:07

7 months !

Mamadothehump · 08/10/2018 15:10

1st was 6 weeks and second was about 6 days! I was 25 and 27. Both 9lb babies

DrWhy · 08/10/2018 15:33

First was about 6 weeks I think but I wasn’t really into amazingly tight fitting clothing. I then put nearly a stone back on through the year I was breastfeeding him. I was permanently hungry, using sugar to stay awake and had no time or energy to exercise. So this time round I’m starting from heavier and two years older. Im aiming to be lighter than I was pre-pregnancy when I go back to work at about 10 months as I want to revamp my wardrobe and look generally as by that point it will have been 4 years in maternity and feeding clothes and if I see another ‘Breton Stripe’ I’ll scream!

Jjbay · 08/10/2018 15:46

I only had a baby bump with all 3 of mine and didn’t put weight on anywhere else and I was back in my jeans the day after I came home with all of themI am also naturally slim if that helps 😊

Cutesbabasmummy · 08/10/2018 16:05

My tummy muscles have never joined back together so now my son is almost 4 I still look like I'm having another! Having private physio to try to sort it out. I never got back into my pre pregnancy jeans .

MaryShelley1818 · 08/10/2018 16:09

Took me about a week...despite being 39 and a size 18!
Definitely not just youth and naturally slim dependant :)

willisurvive3under2 · 08/10/2018 16:11

First baby - 5 months.

Second pregnancy (twins!) - the day I gave birth.

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/10/2018 16:12

One week.

OliveOrTwist · 08/10/2018 16:15

I'm 2.5 weeks post birth of a 10lber and I'm in my pre pg clothes. I was all bump/baby though. My body isnt back to normal by any stretch. My stomach is very sad looking, I hope the skin tightens back up Sad
