Hello :)

I'm just curious really - I was talking to a friend and said I was hoping to be in my old clothes 3 months after the birth - it's my first baby and I'm naturally very slim, the only weight I've gained in the pregnancy is basically bump/baby. She said I was BU and that it would take at least 12 months! I know losing the weight really isn't the be all and end all but just for my own reasons really I'd love to be in a situation by then where my pre pregnancy clothes would fit (unless of course I have a c sect or very difficult birth that means I can't actually get out for walks and stuff for a while!)

I guess my question is am I being unrealistic? Interested to hear everyone else's stories?!

First baby 3 days (but a bit tight) . Second baby 3 months (but I hadn't lost all of the weight from the first baby so second put me over the edge onto the next size)

Doghorsechicken · 08/10/2018 12:24

I could fit in them about 3 weeks after. Baby is now 4 months old but I’m getting bigger & bigger & no longer fit in them! I walk every day but I think the lack of sleep has made me eat more to keep my energy up.

ChodeofChodeHall · 08/10/2018 12:25

About a week, but I had PND and had no appetite. Don't put pressure on yourself: early parenthood is challenging enough without it!

Mildmanneredmum · 08/10/2018 12:26

23 years.

BlackInk · 08/10/2018 12:26

I was back in normal jeans (ie not stretchy maternity ones) within a week or so after both my DC were born. The midwife was still doing home visits to check my stitches etc. and she commented, which is how I remember.

I think I was just lucky. I wasn't trying to lose weight or fit back into jeans. I put on about 1 and a half stones with each pregnancy but am naturally fairly slim and had big old babies - both over 9 pounds.

Elphame · 08/10/2018 12:27

About a week for each. I had such horrendous sickness throughout though I didn't gain much extra weight.

Everyone is different though

Verbena87 · 08/10/2018 12:27

Also I put on 2 stone and it all came off pretty quickly (am now 8 and a half again) - ate to hunger, so an absolute shed-load, but mostly reasonably nutritious stuff, breastfed on demand, and tried to walk every day once I was well enough.

Started post natal Pilates at 8weeks which was fab for breastfeeding back pain and core/pelvic floor recovery.

I’m still a different shape though, some stuff just doesn’t suit me any more and other stuff looks better.

Fatted · 08/10/2018 12:27

I never did really.

Had two c-sections and stomach has totally changed shape and now need a bigger size even when less than pre pregnancy weight.

And then I got fat again after having my second!

CrazyOldBagLady · 08/10/2018 12:31

2 weeks, think EBF helped a lot. I’m still lighter now than before I was pregnant. Might be more to do with being more active on maternity than at my desk job though

MiniTheMinx · 08/10/2018 12:34

About a week. I'm inclined to lose weight rather than gain.

I was though left a different shape. I'd always been slim but I looked very curvey because my waist had been so small (22") I'm now more straight up and down.....clothing fits better now. But my waist gained 2" which even at my lowest weight has never changed.

Oh, and bloody wrinkles. My tummy could do with being ironed!

Conseulabananahammock · 08/10/2018 12:36

Came home in them all 3 times .

Ceilingrose · 08/10/2018 12:41

I remember it taking me a year, and my gorgeous friend a fortnight!

trickytroggle1 · 08/10/2018 12:43

6 1/2 years. Ive just got myself a whole "new wardrobe", because I never got rid of my pre kids clothes

mehithappens · 08/10/2018 12:44

4 months but they are still feeling the strain Grin I couldn't get into a lot of tops due to breastfeeding as my boobs were a lot bigger.

If I could if afforded it I would buy the next size up jeans. But I own a lot of jeans already. My body shape changed and I'm 1/2 a stone heavier still.

Scottishgirl85 · 08/10/2018 12:45

It's so variable. I think 2 or 3 months for both of mine (size 8) and I do absolutely no exercise!

DoAsYouWouldBeMumBy · 08/10/2018 12:49

He's 11, still not back into those jeans - threw them out in the end Blush

CookPassBabtridge · 08/10/2018 12:55

4.5 years and counting... Grin I'm really impressed at the posters on this thread!

BeautifulBlue · 08/10/2018 12:58

I can't even remember - because I don't care 🤷🏼‍♀️ The day after I gave birth my dads girlfriend asked me when the midwife said my tummy would go down Hmm mmm yeah, first thing I asked after pushing a baby out my vag!!

Saltedcaramelcake · 08/10/2018 12:59

First baby 1 week (I just hadn't tried before then) second baby right away. It was complete luck nothing else, I'm in my 30s so it isn't that I'm young either. I'm pretty slim normally (size 8) and only really gained a baby bump, I didn't really put weight on anywhere else.

I'm pretty sure my luck will run out when we have another, I'll probably pile it on and never be able to lose it again, ever!

Kokeshi123 · 08/10/2018 13:03

A few weeks for me. I didn't gain a lot when pregnant. Everyone is different though. My sister could NOT lose weight until she stopped BFing. Once she stopped, it all dropped off very quickly.

JassyRadlett · 08/10/2018 13:03

First child, not until I finished breastfeeding at 18 months, and then I dropped two dress sizes in a month.

Second child, never. I’m a similar weight but my hips and ribcage have never gone all the way back.

NickyNora · 08/10/2018 13:04

I have 6 dc.

Always back in my jeans with 2-3 weeks maximum.

Namechangemum100 · 08/10/2018 13:06

Baby 1 I was back in pre pregnancy clothes in 2 weeks...baby 2 no f*cking chance, he is 6 months old and I'm still wedding my maternity leggings FML.

In my defense there is only 14 months between them and I barely have time to shower let alone focus on diet and exercise 😭

kiwiblue · 08/10/2018 13:12

Straight away. Just luck I think, hungry baby - for the first time in my life I didn't have to worry about what I ate when I was breastfeeding, I actually lost weight.

toomanysmallpeoplecallmemom · 08/10/2018 13:12

My body shape is different after my youngest (18m) my hips and rib cage are still wider - I have big babies and he was 10lb5 so I try not to care too much
