For being pissed off that a fb 'friend' is selling (what are clearly) stolen supermarket items on face book?

Someone on my friends list has begun selling an array of super market items, mainly cleaning products, baby milk, cheese and coffee, on her face book page and it's fairly obvious she's either stolen these items her self, or is selling them on behalf of someone else.

There's numerous photos of the products and messages from other's asking her for her prices and offering to buy whatever.
I'm really disgusted by this and hate thieves, and I'm thinking of screen shotting everything and reporting her to the Police (anonymously though)

Is there any point?. I can't 'proove' where these items are from after all, but I'm livid that this c.f. has the nerve to deal with stolen goods and sell them online!
What would you do in this situation?

@Charlie97 yes is was cheesey, I'll need to work on my Kraft

flopsyrabbit1 · 05/10/2018 17:17

lynx deodrant is another

puts hard hat on, its main l y junkies that sell round here, whole legs of lamb and god knows how they get the tags of

ive bought of them, meat from Waitrose etc at less than half price and will even shop to order (oral b electric toothbrush)

people practically fight over anything decent they have

some really need to open there eyes

its gone on for years

Rockandrolling · 05/10/2018 17:17

The items are not being sold on a fb market place, they're being sold on her own fb profile wall.

WitchofWisteria, I've not seen any Yankee candles but there are at least two air wick electric melts if they're any use.

troodiedoo, does your friend also have an 'aladdins cave' of items for sale (including cathedral city cheese) spread out on the kitchen table? .Items that 'need to be gone asap'?

There's no way the products are from a food bank, or a wholesalers. It wouldn't be worth her while selling things at half the supermarket price'

OP posts:
flopsyrabbit1 · 05/10/2018 17:21

think about it a leg of lamb £20-25 sell for £10 thats a small bag of heroin

they wont just take one item they will take as much as they can swipe

that might shock people but thats what goes on all over the country. in every shopping centre etc

ConfusedMum82 · 05/10/2018 17:22

Be very careful OP
A good friend of mine started selling ex chain store stock, she had a scanning app to find the glitches in prices and bought loads up. As a result she got chatting to one of the staff, who told her when to come when they are practically giving stuff away.
A friend of hers (not me) then reported her to the Police. She hadn't even asked my friend how she came by the items, she just wrongly assumed my friend was a thief.
Queue much upset, waste of Police time and all the rest of us in her circle not getting bargains.
Some people are mates or family of someone who is staff in a store. Unless you are 100% sure, keep out of it.

Rockandrolling · 05/10/2018 17:43

When I said I was surprised, I meant surprised that she has the nerve to post photos and sell these products on sm, if they are stolen.

I would not be surprised, however, if she is a shoplifter. I say this because her dsis (who is also on my fb) posted some time back how 'fucking disgusted' she was that they were being followed by security in the local (big chain) supermarket.

The dsis commented that they both went mad at security I'm not surprised as they're both gobby little chavs and stormed out. I've worked in a supermarket, and for security to be closely monitoring someone, well there's a reason for it.

@Rockandrolling you sound judgy, overbearing and bloody nosy!

They're gobby chavs? You're a nosy bugger that needs to get on with her own life and business!

Rockandrolling · 05/10/2018 18:17

Charlie- you don't even know me, so you aren't in a position to judge. I know these women personally and I can assure you they are not the quiet shy types.
As for me being 'nosey', I didn't go looking for these photos or comments, they appeared on my news feed.

I find it really weird you’re FB friends with people you find so abhorrent

PortiaCastis · 05/10/2018 18:17

But why are you fb friends with this alleged thief if she gets on your wick so much, just report her to the police or delete and block her then move on.

Polorbearman · 05/10/2018 18:19

Not really that big of an issue leave them be. Money's tight for everyone if they are making some extra money and selling cheaper food to people who the he'll cares stop worrying about other people. Jesus.

Rockandrolling · 05/10/2018 18:22

I didn't say I find them 'abhorrent', and have been on their lists for probably a few years. These items for sale have only recently been put on fb.

@Rockandrolling are you the CEO of Tesco otherwise why are you so over invested!!

NotUmbongoUnchained · 05/10/2018 18:34

I literally don’t anyone in real life who would give a shit about this. Thank god. Get a life.

JayZed · 05/10/2018 18:50

Is this your friend OP?

For being pissed off that a fb 'friend' is selling (what are clearly) stolen supermarket items on face book?
PootrolliumJelly · 05/10/2018 18:57

The dsis commented that they both went mad at security I'm not surprised as they're both gobby little chavs and stormed out

Is this why you were thinking of reporting anonymously?

Is there any point?. I can't 'proove' where these items are from after all

No, there is no point.

I don't associate with her for numerous reasons

Time to start controlling your FB feed and move on.

SandAndSea · 05/10/2018 19:16

This all reminds me of Tom Stade:

I wonder why shoplifting is seen as ok but benefit fraud gets a lynching on here. Odd.

Are you actually serious???

Sainsbury's who could employ more security guards, who make £1000s profit each year?

Or

The state benefit system?

Hmmmmmm nope can't see the difference at all!

Eeevvvveee · 06/10/2018 07:15

I wouldn't do anything. You don't know for a fact that it's stolen and it's not really any of your business. If they are stolen, that's bad but your friend must be very desperate financially to stoop so low.

Rockandrolling · 06/10/2018 08:18

I can see where troodiedoo is coming from. Some posters on here have told me to 'get a life' and 'mind your own business', basically all because I don't like the fact that someone is selling (what I believe) to be stolen goods and I''ve posted about it.

Charlie97, do you also not realise that, as well as benefit fraud for example, shoplifting also has a knock on effect on the general public?
Benefit fraud affects the public, as there's less money to go around.

Theft from stores also affects the general public as the price of food etc is increased to absorb losses. Don't be naive to think that large organizations will lose out from collecting profits, it's the consumer who loses out.

Which ever way you look at it, whether it's benefit fraud or shoplfting, the principle is still the same. Theft from either of these examples has consequences for all of us.

Eeevvvveee - she really doesn't seem to be struggling financially. Fb 'friend' and her children wear all the latest designer gear, she's just posted about her recent holiday abroad, and she doesn't work.

OP posts:
glintandglide · 06/10/2018 08:19

Bit confused about the benefit fraud comment. Do you realise that Mn isn’t some homogenous group? So unless you have seen the exact same posters outraged by Benefit fraud who are relaxed about stolen groceries, it’s a moot point

Charlie97 · 06/10/2018 08:31

^^you've got way too much time on your hands to be looking at someone W you don't really likes holiday photos!

Honestly you sound like an interfering and jealous nightmare! Come off FB it's not for you, you just stalking people and winding yourself up!

Lichtie · 06/10/2018 08:34

OP I completely agree with your view on shoplifting and benefit fraud.

But if you are so morally outraged why are you on MN and not already reported it to the police?

You don't know its stolen, these people clearly aren't your friends, delete them from Facebook and move on. You seem to take a very active interest in their lives for some people you don't really know.

Rockandrolling · 06/10/2018 08:39

Charlie

FFS. What is your problem? ... I'm not 'stalking' anyone, so stop with your vicious comments. They say a lot about the kind of person you are to me.
Her photos have come up on the news feed. I've glanced at one! ... and I know her personally, so I know she wears all designer gear for example.

I won't respond to you anymore. You're goady.
